Anybody hear or agree with Mickey Kaus’s argument why it’s better if Hagel is confirmed? He maintains that if the GOP defeats the Hagel nomination their entire resistance quotient will be spent and they’ll eagerly cave on immigration and gun control (which are more important than Hagel). Kaus is pretty shrewd, and I like his premise. The sad and sick truth is that we’re dealing with a GOP that is simply incapable of sustained combat with the Left.

It's a well known fact that conservatives have a wild imagination.

Iran’s Guardian Council cleared Amirahmadi to run for the presidency in 2013. Approval of the regime is required before candidates’ names can appear on the ballot. To be approved, candidates must be Shia, male, and committed to the Islamic revolution.

Registration of candidates for 2013 Pres. election in Iran has NOT STARTED YET. It will take place in May. The vetting by the Guardian Council would happen after that. Did a "conservative investigative journalist" (oh the oxymoron!) travel into the future again?

He attempted to mount a campaign in 2005, but the Guardian Council disqualified him.

That bit is true and a good indicator of what will happent his time around. The fact that the author gets such basic facts so wrong tells you all about the credibility of this hit piece.
