Quotes of the day

posted at 10:41 pm on February 14, 2013 by Allahpundit

Occupy Los Angeles has chosen to honor Chris Dorner in the wake of his death, despite the body count he apparently amassed…

The statement of support and solidarity was posted on the Occupy Los Angeles’ official Facebook page Wednesday. The statement came in the form of a posted picture captioned with the phrases “Rest In Power Chris Dorner” and “Assassinated By The Police for Trying To Expose LAPD Corruption.”

***

The “We Stand With Christopher Dorner” Facebook page had drawn almost 22,000 likes Thursday afternoon. “We Are All Chris Dorner” drew 4,400…

Scott Talan (@talan), a professor of public communication at American University in Washington, told USA TODAY that some people have grudges against government, police or other authority and see a bit of themselves in Dorner…

He noted that social media make visible what some people say in private. “We can see the posts. We can see the tweets,” he said. “Before, they would have said these things in a car, in a bar, in a home, and no one else would have known.”

***

Online support for Dorner in the days since his rampage has crept out of the internet’s more extreme corners — where such perverse boosterism is commonplace — and into more mainstream venues. Dorner is now hailed as a kind of folk hero by some on the Chomsky-esque left and the Ron Paul right, who view the killer’s manifesto as an articulate indictment of the “police state” they have always opposed.

“This story has a lot of moving parts, thanks in large part to Dorner’s long manifesto,” said J.M. Berger, a journalist and expert on domestic extremism. “With the fragmentation of the media these days, people are more prone to selection bias — they pull out the parts of a story that resonate with them and ignore the parts they don’t like. This is really a common practice among extremists, but it’s creeping into the mainstream more and more.”

“The LAPD’s troubled history and continued bad reputation are also big factors here,” Berger said. “I think it’s difficult for a lot of people to root for the LAPD under any circumstances. But you really have to ignore big parts of Dorner’s story in order to cast him as Dirty Harry or Rambo, as many people have. Dirty Harry didn’t kill the daughters of people who got on his wrong side.”

***

It is important to remember that Dorner murdered a young woman and her fiancé simply because she was the daughter of a cop — the man who acted as Dorner’s defense advocate in the LAPD proceedings against him. But as one comment on a left-wing site noted, that was a good idea: If the cop had been murdered, he wouldn’t have suffered, but now that his daughter and her fiancé have been murdered, the cop will experience real pain until he dies.

Any public figure, and especially any member of the clergy, who does not unambiguously condemn Dorner as a psychopathic murderer is failing his or her duty. This is not the time to discuss allegations of racism in the Los Angeles Police Department. For one thing, being wrongfully dismissed from a job — if, indeed, that is what happened to Dorner — inhabits a different moral universe than murder. For another, the more the public pays attention to this murderer’s “manifesto,” the more murders-for-attention will take place…

What we have here is another proof that nothing leads to murder and other evils more than a sense of victimization.

This evening on the CBS Evening News, they ran audio recordings of the police yelling out that they should burn down the cabin.
No too long after that, they hurled CS-gas canisters into the cabin .. you know .. the ones that have a history of starting fires and burning down structures like the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, TX. And true to their history, they caused the cabin to become engulf in flames.
Of course, the local sheriff is claiming that they didn’t want to burn down the cabin, but … nudge, nudge, know what I mean, say no more

This story is just filled with “bad guys” or idiots. I’m not sure which is worse.
The (at least) two incidents of collateral damage are inexcusable.
I’m not going to defend Dorner, but that doesn’t mean he was the only “bad actor” in this story.

Well, the Libs/Prog’s loved Mumia Abu-Jamal.

Now, Dorner.

What is it that makes the Left adore cop killers?

And, since Obama told the Occupy thugs “”You are the reason I ran for office.” back in November 2011, does this mean Obama supports Occupy vis-a-vis Dorner?

Cops acted stupidly in Cambridge, so let’s let some idiot shoot a bunch of them.

Thought Obama was against people being armed with assault rifles and randomly shooting people.

Guess Dorner being not White makes all the difference?

coldwarrior on February 14, 2013 at 10:53 PM

There are some really sick people in this country.

My guess is that most of these cretins are bleating anonymously. It would certainly be bold to make such statements in LA, Riverside or San Bernandino County.

Ironically, we know that the training officer who started the case against Dorner was a woman. What we do not know is what race she is. I don’t suppose we will ever know, but it would sure be interesting. I started thinking about his because I wonder whether in the climate that prevails, the LAPD would assign a white woman–or any white Officer–as the training officer, with the responsibility to evaluate a black. If they do, they are just asking for trouble–and the LAPD has had some hard lessons in racial matters.

Hannity’s interviews are always the same: the first 1:00 to 1:30 is a blathery intro and finally a question. The guest gets :30 to :45 for response and is usually interrupted twice. Hannity then perorates for another minute, finally getting to another question, and more interruptions. The whole thing is choppy, verbose, redundant, unwatchable.

J Crater, what is your problem with using tear gas against a guy who has sent two police officers to the hospital, and two more to the morgue? One of each in the past hour or two.

The San Bernardino Sheriff made a mistake. He may have tried to cover actions that he thought would be criticized by fools like you, and got caught. Or he may have thought he was speaking honestly before he had all relevant information. Don’t know which; don’t really care. Doesn’t matter. At the moment they deployed those grenades, I would have called in Spectre gun ship, or a B2, if it would get that mad dog without risking another of my officers.

Now the cops in Torrance have a lot to answer for–and I expect they will. I can say with certainty that there is a lawyer hot on the trail. He has been all over local TV.

Let’s All Use Bill O’Reilly’s PERSPECTIVE on history:

“Adolf Hitler did something very CONTROVERSIAL – he ordered the deaths of 6 million Jews. How CONTROVERSIAL of him……..”

“Then the boy at Sandy Hook did something very CONTROVERSIAL. He shot 26 innocent people and children. One COULD argue that his actions were very CONTROVERSIAL……”

“By flying airplanes into the World Trader Center, The Pentagon and Shanksville Pennsylvania – the Nineteen Muslims did something very CONTROVERSIAL which CONTRIBUTED to the deaths of 3,000 people. Certainly pundits, like myself – Bill O-Reilly – will long debate how CONTROVERSIAL these action might be interpreted to be.”

Yeah – they were “CONTROVERSIAL”

What’s with Berger’s attempt to group libertarians in with the mindless vermin who idolize Dorner? I don’t know a single libertarian who wouldn’t have rather seen Dorner’s grievances addressed than to have four people killed. To say otherwise is bullsh!t and a slap at Paul supporters everywhere.

The progressives make me laugh. They want to take away guns from average Americans. They say we don’t need them because the police and state will protect us. Yet they also say the police and state are corrupt, racist and are thugs. It makes no sense which is why they are crazy. Only a crazy person would want to disarm themselves to allow a so called corrupt, racist and thuggish state and police to protect them.

The progressives always claim that conservatives cling to their guns because they are paranoid of government. They are wrong. We cling to our guns because progressives are raving lunatics! Just look at the people who are supporting what Dorner did. I am no fan of the LAPD, because they are corrupt and are gun grabbers, but you have to be deranged to think Dorner is some kind of hero. These lunatics would kill us, if given a chance, because of what we believe and because of they live in some kind of alternate universe.

“I don’t think we should do it; I think we should respect the work we do,” Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol. “I think it’s necessary for us to have the dignity of the job that we have rewarded.”

Still feeling the love, working-poor Democrats?

She thinks you’re an undignified animal. As long as you pose for pictures and look worn, tired, but noble — she’ll keep patting you on the head. As long as you keep voting her into power, she’ll protect you from Republicans so calloused inside they equate wealth with dignity, power over other people as success.

Isn’t Pelosi special, always thinking of others?

You aren’t
What
You think
You are

You aren’t
What
You own

You possess
The light

You are
Unbounded energy

I want You
To know
It’s dark here

But where my
Heart lies
Boundless illumination

Your soul
Your love

Is what
I need
