Breaking: Fugitive Chris Dorner “pinned down” by California police

posted at 5:01 pm on February 12, 2013 by Allahpundit

Via Ace, two cops have already been shot but Dorner’s reportedly “pinned down” so the end, hopefully, is near. Details are sketchy right now: The word on cable news is that Dorner broke into someone’s cabin, tied up the couple that owned it, and was then intercepted by police shortly afterward. He may or may not have opened fire at a roadblock. Here’s the live feed from Big Bear. Stand by for updates.

Update: Dorner now holed up in a cabin and surrounded?

Update: More from the LA Times:

The shooting occurred after Dorner burglarized a home, tied up a couple and stole a white pickup truck, sources said. San Bernardino County sheriff’s spokeswoman Jodi Miller confirmed deputies responded to a vehicle theft about 12:20 p.m., and the resident who reported the theft said the suspect matched Dorner’s description.

The U.S. Forest Service confirms there was an exchange of gunfire between officers on foot and the suspect, in the Santa Ana River drainage, north of State Highway 38 and south of Big Bear Valley. At least one officer of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife was involved, said John Miller, San Bernardino National Forest spokesman. That officer is not believed to be injured.

Hundreds of cops had searched for him on the mountain in the last few days. Where was he hiding?

Update: At long last, civilization mercifully comes to an end:

Update: One of the cops shot by Dorner has reportedly died. Meanwhile, here’s what MSNBC is talking about.

You know, if the GOP let’s the sequester happen we won’t have enough money for the police to pursue criminals like Dorner, but millionaires and billionaires will still have more money than anybody needs.

Electrongod on February 12, 2013 at 5:43 PM

Who wants to bet that Obama uses this event to shamelessly advocate for gun control during tonight’s SOTU?

youknowit on February 12, 2013 at 5:36 PM

I don’t think that obama can really use this because Dorner is black, and a hero to liberals, radicals and criminals (obama’s base) – obama might just have to avoid mentioning Dorner all together. This is one crisis that obama may have to let “go to waste”.

Pork-Chop on February 12, 2013 at 5:43 PM

Obama loves (not the crimes but) to mention gun or police incidents that support his narrative, like Trayvon Martin, Henry Louis Gates, Sandy Hook, and so on. And here we have a crazy black liberal shooting at law enforcement, where Obama can NOT enjoy identifying with one side or the other, or say “it could have been Sasha or Malia as a victim”.

So, what, if ANYTHING, will Obama say about it when this is all over? What “lesson” will he try to teach us? I can’t imagine. But he’ll come up with something.

Hmmm…KTLA in L.A. just had an interview with a lady from the local school district up there-1 school about 7 miles from the shootout is still in lockdown but the other schools in the district are now no longer on lockdown.

She also casually mentioned that since last week all of the schools in the district have had armed police officers stationed in them. Curious how the Democrat Media was afraid to tell us that!

“Throughout the day, Senators Feinstein and Boxer made desperate pleas for their California constituents to turn in their guns and not confront the crazed gunman because this would be a perfect test of their anti-gun proposals.

“The Senators feel the best course of action is to remove all weapons from law enforcement and private citizens so no one else gets hurt,” said a Senate communications intern. “When the gunman realizes that nobody else is armed, he will lay down his weapons and turn himself in…. that’s just human nature.”

Good to see Feinstein has the solution. All the cops around Big Bear should put all their guns away immediately. Then, Dorner will just lay down his weapons and turn himself in, all before the SOTU show tonight.

If he surrendered and there is a trial, what will be the chance that he’ll be convicted by a LA jury?

galtani on February 12, 2013 at 6:09 PM

Well, the first two murders were in Irvine so he would be tried in Orange County. The murder of the policeman took place in the City of Riverside so that trial would in Riverside. He would be looking at special circumstances in both cases and both would be death penalty cases.

The Depraved, Ghoulish Left Cheers On Dorner As Shootout Continues

I could less about these cop pigs…run Dorner run

Resist We Much on February 12, 2013 at 6:26 PM

CBS LA just said that Dorner supporters have shown up in Big Bear with signs. Unreal.

— John Ekdahl, Jr. (@JohnEkdahl) February 12, 2013

That was fast. Were they on standby, Big Bear isn’t exactly downtown.

Bishop on February 12, 2013 at 6:26 PM

Ummmm…The thread is about what Dorner has done, including murdering innocents in cold blood, what is being done about it, and what is happening to him now.

But you just can’t help yourself, can you?

farsighted

Unlike some, I like to view the whole picture. Not just what’s hand fed to me.

I don’t understand this unquestioning loyalty some of you have to a group of people who, quite frankly, are more dangerous than many of the criminals they arrest. They protect and hide their more abusive members. Anyone that reports abuse is a “rat” and is ostracized by the rest of them. The internal group that investigates claims of abuse is called “the rat squad” by the rest of them. Even those caught breaking the rules are almost always put back on the street after short paid vacations. Not to mention that they spend more money being tax revenue lackeys for the state by handing out tickets than they do actually solving crimes.

Benaiah on February 12, 2013 at 6:26 PM

The second you show any distrust of the police, you become public enemy number 1 around here.

SWalker on February 12, 2013 at 6:16 PM

Baloney. The police can be plenty stupid and in this case may certainly be. Indiscriminately shooting women and skinny white guys who plainly do NOT match the description of the perp….stupid beyond belief.

But just because some of them are morons does NOT mean that these departments are racists. This whole thing has come about because Dorner has accused them of firing him because of racism. And THAT is why the Kos Kids and Democratic Underground bunch, et al are hailing him as a hero.

Hell, no. Not while we still have Lefties jawing about “Free Mumia.”

Yelling at her from here wasn’t working.

Then find something else to do. Preferably not on the internet ( I can’t write computer, I even draw my plans on a computer now). She will return when ready.

Resist We Much on February 12, 2013 at 6:28 PM

Benaiah,

Here is a full story. The LAPD didn’t do it, yet you claim that “in any case” it’s just another example of the LAPD’s incompetence.

IOW, it’s the LAPD’s fault, not the Torrance PD’s. *eyeroll* Somehow, I doubt Mr. Perdue’s attorneys are going to sue TPD, not LAPD.

Christien

Like I said, I hadn’t seen a full story on that shooting.

Benaiah on February 12, 2013 at 6:28 PM

So, the Freak Show has arrived.

Told ya so.

There was too much bloodshed already. Dorner should come out peacefully and surrender on live TV during the SOTU speech.

Benaiah on February 12, 2013 at 6:28 PM
