JohnGalt23. All the governors run for reelection in 2014, not 2016. If anything Jindal and Rubio are both the ones screwed over in 2016. Rubio’s Senate seat is up in 2016 and Jindal run for reelection in 2015, so decisions have to be made there.

As for Ryan, I think that he presents an interesting case study. He retains huge influence in the R party and escaped from the 2012 campaign relatively unscathed. The last three losing VPs have had issues.. Lieberman was out of step with the Ds on foreign policy, Edwards was a sleaze, and Palin was utterly destroyed during the campaign. Ryan has none of those issues. He’d probably be the frontrunner if not for the Savior. Ryan’s main issues are Rubio and his own desire to run.

Walker, Haley, Snyder(?!), Martinez and Sandoval all have to win re-election before 2016, and thus will likely be spending all their money and (save for Haley, who is in a safe GOP state) political capital in 2014. And Brian Sandoval is (allegedly) already talking about competing for Reid’s seat in 2016.

Ayotte is interesting, but so far appears to to be in the go-along-to-get-along caucus. She sure isn’t making a name for herself like Paul and Rubio.

This was covered on another thread that The President and the VP can be from the same State. Can’t recall which thread at the moment and won’t take the time to search. Too far out. That pick of President and VP is my opinion. Not what I want, just what I think the RINOS have in mind. You know, like McCain/Romney and those before.

The Administration is telling people all the bad things that are going to happen with sequestration, except it’s all lies, they increased spending by 8% the first year Obama came to office and have artifically kept it up there since by refusing to pass a budget. This is going to be a 4% cut so what is the problem?

Time will tell tho. Jeb Bush has taken a couple of shots at Rubio tho. Not by name yet, but the content of his criticism over Immigration was clear enough he was sending Rubio a message.

It is Constitutionally impossible for Rubio to be Jeb Bush’s VP unless Republicans would like to forfeit the electoral votes from Florida. It’s either the 11th or 12th amendment. Jeb Bush’s vanity run isn’t happening. Rubio has way too many positives to allow for a Jeb Bush vanity nomination. He knows that is over; this is why he is lashing out at his former protege. Hence Rubio ended the careers of both the Oompa Loompa and Jeb Bush.

At this point, I measure my candidates by two things: First, how much do they appear to understand what they are up against, and Two: How much “fight” do they then show accordingly.

Paul scores high on my meter. A few of them on that list don’t even make my list. Because, at this point, that’s all we have left.

Heck even Chris Christie would do better in a general election although I’d prefer not to go there. Why people insist on pushing a candidate with no redeeming qualities whatsoever who will lose by 10 points in a general election is beyond me. (I’d love to hear more about Paul’s take on the unconstitutionality of the Civil Rights Act). But hey it’ll make you feel good about yourselves.

2016 is a long long time away, how about let’s see what these people can do before destroying them on the off chance that they might challenge one of your favorite squishes.
