Agree 110%. In his “manifesto” he blames his present difficulties on his reporting another officer for “excessive force”. Yet he hunted down and murdered three innocent people. Such a warped sense of “moral equivalence” points to rather severe narcissism.

Also – in the Naval Reserve (as with other branches of the military services) you are not allowed to be issued a weapon if you have a restraining order against you. For an officer in the security branch, that is a career killer. Of course, he would never admit that his own mistakes and misdeeds contributed to his problems – narcissists can’t admit that.

Me? I never had a problem with the LAPD. But then again I grew up in a rich suburb. I guess I wouldn’t really be able to judge cases unless I’d first lived in Watts for five years on the receiving end of the LAPD, then did two years riding around with police officers and seeing what a tough job it is from THEIR end. One thing’s sure: The LAPD does not have the trust of the community it serves, and no one’s happy about it. Not the cops and not the civilians.

Not sure how to fix it.

And that is the crux of the whole problem right there, to many people on both sides who hate each other and are utterly incapable of admitting that they are part of the problem.

To many Blake’s and Bubba Rednecks who are incapable of understanding or admitting why the LAPD are so hated, let alone that they even are hated. You cannot fix a problem that you cannot admit exists.

And yes, for every Blake and Bubba Redneck for whom the LAPD can do no wrong, there are just as many in L.A. who are every bit as incapable of listening to possible solutions because of their distrust and outright hatred of the LAPD.

So you end up with exactly what L.A. now has, a monster on the loose. A, for lack of any better description, serial killer running around hunting cops and anyone related to them, and 30 percent of the population of L.A. is rooting for the serial killer.

What are Dorner’s fans going to do when they are threatened? Call 911? Seems to me, that would be a bit hypocritical.

5) I used to live in LA, thirty years ago. The reason this guy is an antihero is because the LAPD has made itself so hated over thirty years there are lots of people who would take a shot at a police officer if they had the guts. 1) There have to be million better ways to express frustration than murdering the loved ones of police officers. The man should be hunted down , tried, and executed if found guilty.

2) Reading his wikipedia article, Dorner has had a lot of trouble. So far he’s demonstrating that LAPD did exactly the right thing in firing him. He has not demonstrated the judgement a police officer needs.

3) Still, the fact that he was hired in the first place seems to suggest that all the worst things about the LAPD are true. How many other people are there out there like him, but have the sense only to take it out on civilians with some pretext of legality?

4) I’d give this guy about a 0.00001% of being taken alive. The man’s an armed, dangerous known cop-killer who knows their procedures as well as the cops do. Given this , no cop is going to risk HIS life and give this guy the slightest bit of slack. If they bust him, if he so much as blinks at the wrong time he’ll eat so much lead they’ll be able to make a bullet factory out of his corpse.

Douchebag: Do you even understand the crap you copy and paste? You are quoting from an article written in 2006 that gives no actual numbers. CRASH was dissolved in March 2000. The murder rate for the Rampart Division [did NOT drop] by 70 percent the day the CRASH unit was disbanded as you falsely claimed. Overall, the murder rate increased significantly over the next three years and then slowly began dropping. Nor did Ramparts CRASH murder 57 people. Again, seek help.

Rampart Division, which at one time had one of the city’s highest homicide rates, has experienced a dramatic drop in killings since the mid-90′s. This year the homicide rate is nearly equivalent to the rate for the rest of L.A.

In a sick way, it’s sad they haven’t actually got a body count. They’ve shot at at least 3 innocent people – one at point-blank range – and haven’t managed to kill a one of them. As a matter of fact, they have only hit one of the three. (One other was hit by flying glass, the second sustained injuries from being rammed by the police cruiser.) Their level of incompetence in even shooting at these people is incredible. But they can’t even hit what they’re aiming at!

I’m glad no one has been killed by these trigger-happy schmoes, but it just shows they are also incompetent at handling a firearm and are a menace to the public once they draw their weapon. The picture of the pickup the newspaper ladies were in shows evidence markers counting up to 47, implying they fired 47 rounds. And they hit the one woman with 2 of them. Approximately 2 dozen rounds hit the back of the truck.

What I’m very tempted to say to the next armed policeman I encounter: “Are you going to shoot me? If so I want to stand where you’re aiming, so I can be safe from flying lead.”

Throughout the day, Senators Feinstein and Boxer made desperate pleas for their California constituents to turn in their guns and not confront the crazed gunman because this would be a perfect test of their anti-gun proposals.

“The Senators feel the best course of action is to remove all weapons from law enforcement and private citizens so no one else gets hurt,” said a Senate communications intern. “When the gunman realizes that nobody else is armed, he will lay down his weapons and turn himself in…. that’s just human nature.”

Beyond mind-boggling.

When this clown gets dropped by some armed citizen out here protecting his life, family, and property (after California LEOs have shot up every look-alike truck and are still looking for this lunatic), I am gonna get a front-row seat with a huge bowl of popcorn, watching them stammer and stumble through an explanation why we should give up our guns.

We have many fine, noble and honest cops, but most are bottom of the barrel legacy hires (you’ll never get a police job in the ny suburbs without having a relative on the force thanks to how the test is scored). Are there really the people we want driving around administering justice? Police forces around the country need to start being held accountable. Lets do it in courts, though.
