Video: Dr. Benjamin Carson’s speech at the National Prayer Breakfast

posted at 8:01 pm on February 8, 2013 by Allahpundit

We’re a day late to it but here it is, by popular demand, for your evening enjoyment. The Blaze says the response they’ve gotten to the vid is among the most enthusiastic for any clip in the history of the site. The Wall Street Journal, upon viewing it, declared “Ben Carson for president.” He’ll be on Hannity’s show tonight to elaborate on the themes, but if you’re unfamiliar with the man, you can get a taste of his many accomplishments here. I wonder why a guy who can light up an audience like this hasn’t considered political office. Could be that he’s too busy saving kids from debilitating brain disorders.

If you’re pressed for time and only want to watch Obama squirm, skip to around 17:00 as Carson tackles fiscal responsibility and death panels. Not pictured here: Barack Obama extolling the virtues of humility in leadership. Really.

Wow…that man is everything Obama isn’t.

I can’t imagine President Sippy Cup wasn’t gritting his teeth for the entire speech.

BigWyo on February 9, 2013 at 7:39 AM

He said the response to his b-fast speech has been 99.5% positive and he’s had so many suggestions to run for president that he could finance it if all would send a quarter.

Schadenfreude on February 8, 2013 at 10:20 PM

I’d be happy to send him more than a quarter if he’s serious about running.

Wouldn’t it have been great to have this guy as our first black president, instead of the fool Obama. A black man who is truly accomplished and extraordinary, instead of one who merely pretends to be. A black man who is a patriot, who understands and appreciates this nation’s exceptional qualities and history, instead of a black man who mocks and disparages his nation and distorts its history, and praises and rewards others who do the same. A black man who reveres life (in and out of the womb), and who has dedicated his life to healing and improving the lives of others, instead of a black man who has spent his life lusting after power, fame, and money, and who has done more to help the abortion industry than Margaret Sanger ever dreamed possible.

I think Obama was simply disengaging from the message at that point, because he doesn’t care about solving problems concerning health care… or anything, for that matter! The ObamaCare bill was NEVER about health care; it was about expanding the power of the federal government. Period.

Logic on February 9, 2013 at 9:35 AM

I have seen the movie ‘Gifted Hands’ many times. It is a wonderful story of what a mom/dad/or both can help their kids make something of themselves.

I have the utmost respect for Dr Carson and hope he might run for office. The sad part of him running, he wouldn’t be available for his ‘Gifted Hands’ to help people!

bho sure did look chapped and probably threw something at the wall when he got back to the wh? I bet the person who invivted Dr. Carson to speak got a talking to by bho?

Speakup on February 9, 2013 at 10:12 AM

Think of Ben Carson’s expertise and accomplishments. Then think of those nominal doctors who, a few years ago, put on lab coats so they could look “professional” while standing in the Rose Garden, blankly applauding Obama’s dictatorial drivel. Obama has no business directing anybody’s health care, and the idiots who suited up to clap for him are, at best, only qualified to apply band-aids – and they’d suck at doing even that! Ben Carson represents the ideal that every medical student should aspire to be.

86 on February 9, 2013 at 10:12 AM

You finally put it up, HA.

Michelle was clapping and gracious because she didn’t understand the speech. She’s not bright. Barak Hussein got it and was NOT happy. They did a poor job vetting Carson.

Anyway, I’m Carson 2016 now! No more weasel lawyers.

BoxHead1 on February 9, 2013 at 10:15 AM

I don’t believe the president cared for such an anti-Alinsky speech.

Speakup on February 9, 2013 at 10:19 AM

Like this man big time! It will take the MSM and left wing academia the weekend to start some campaign of vilification about him.

I am sure he accidentally ran over the neighbors cat on the way to an emergency and before you know it he will be directly responsible for the Lindbergh Baby’s death…

Tilly on February 9, 2013 at 10:23 AM

I’ve always admired speakers who can speak softly and gently, yet captivate you with the content of their message.

I have not watched the speech yet, but I did happen to see Dr. Carson’s appearance on Hannity last night. Needless to say, I was riveted. He mentioned that if he had a nickel for every positive response he has received he could probably fund a campaign.
This man was like a breath of air to a country that is being strangled. How could we not want more?

I remember watching a TV piece about this guy. When he was a teenager he got in a fight and plunged a knife into a guy at waist level. The knife hit the guy’s belt buckle, which broke the blade. If not for a belt buckle, this guy might have had a very different life.

Yes, if true, when Dr. Carson got to his room after the knife breaking, he picked up his Bible and maybe at that point felt God helped him out with the knife? At any rate, Dr. Carson seems to be a man of faith.

If y’all get a chance to see the movie, please do so, it is wonderful.

Murf76 on February 9, 2013 at 12:48 PM

Anyway…

Until I heard this man speak, I have been feeling almost hopeless about the future of this country.

This speech, and the man behind it, gives me hope for America. There are many things to point out about this speech that is worth talking about, but I want to point out a subtle, yet towering, component of his style and beliefs:

He said, “We solve these problems, because we are smart people”.

He spoke in the fashion of Reagan, the way a leader of free individuals speaks. He uses the word “we” in the context of we individuals, we free people, we can solve, and we have every reason to feel proud and good about ourselves and our nation.

This is the complete opposite of the current form of so-called leadership in the White House today, who, if he ever uses the word we, uses it in the context of me, or we the government.

Dr. Carson is a breath of fresh air and makes me feel proud to be an American.

This man defines what the words American dream, equal opportunity really means. No piece of legislation or mandate can bring this about.Only in America can this young man along with his great mother bring this dream too reality. These words first spoke so long ago but still hold true today. We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal and are endowed by there creator with certain inalienably rights.Among these being the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Given the man’s experience, it would not surprise me.

What a great speech!

Interesting point he made about having a flat tax. It does seem the argument against it is that it’s unfair because it doesn’t hurt equally. But why do we have to hurt the rich? Is hurting equally the point of taxes? Or even possible?

Amazing speech.

I’m glad bluefox encouraged some of us to watch it. His story is inspirational and his ideas are simple yet bold. An Occam’s razor-like philosophy and ideology. I’d love for him to run for president but I imagine a career in pediatric neurosurgery is quite rewarding in and of itself.

Netanyahu, and now Carson, how many intelligent people need to lecture Obama until he realizes he has no clue?

Barack Obama extolling the virtues of humility in leadership. Really.

0 must have finally read a copy of Harvard Business Review’s Level 5 Leadership: The Triumph of Humility and Fierce Resolve from 2005. ;)

Funny! Says the little boy of no accomplishment. Son you have no idea who or what you speak of in this instance and many others. You’re lack of life experience and shallow thought make you no arbiter of whether Dr. Carson is beta or alpha. Please son for your own sake, smarten up. At least try. Plainly the good Dr. Had his way with 0. None but an idiot would deny this. The result of which is written all over the face of the one you fluff for. Perhaps you will remain that small boy you present yourself here as? Lol! Pathetic little creatures both of you.

Yes, Gifted Hands is very good. Get it from Netflix and show it to your kids!

America, freedom, always lives in the hearts of men like these.
