Video: Dr. Benjamin Carson’s speech at the National Prayer Breakfast

posted at 8:01 pm on February 8, 2013 by Allahpundit

We’re a day late to it but here it is, by popular demand, for your evening enjoyment. The Blaze says the response they’ve gotten to the vid is among the most enthusiastic for any clip in the history of the site. The Wall Street Journal, upon viewing it, declared “Ben Carson for president.” He’ll be on Hannity’s show tonight to elaborate on the themes, but if you’re unfamiliar with the man, you can get a taste of his many accomplishments here. I wonder why a guy who can light up an audience like this hasn’t considered political office. Could be that he’s too busy saving kids from debilitating brain disorders.

If you’re pressed for time and only want to watch Obama squirm, skip to around 17:00 as Carson tackles fiscal responsibility and death panels. Not pictured here: Barack Obama extolling the virtues of humility in leadership. Really.

Dr. Carson is a class act. First class.

Compare that to the little punk Obama who could barely wake up long enough to stick his nose in the air.

petefrt on February 8, 2013 at 8:11 PM

The Dr. insulted the political hacks in DC, directly and indirectly, PC be damned.

Barack Obama’s reaction tells all. He never clapped. It was a direct repudiation of all he does, or deosn’t do.

Mrs. Obama clapped a few times, for pure sanity. B. Obama’s to even her clapping is telling. B. Obama acted constipated the entire time.

It’s a great tape to watch. The Dr. has a set of steely ones.

To disagree with Dear Leader is disrespectful if not downright racist…oh sorry!

d1carter on February 8, 2013 at 8:12 PM

“we can solve these problems…because we have a very smart group of politicians in DC” was the biggest (sarcastic) dagger he stuck into all of them.

Schadenfreude on February 8, 2013 at 8:12 PM

“I hate lawyers…because all they want is to win”. Watching Obama’s face at that point tells entire novels.

The Dr. has created a lot in his life. He looked with disdain at Obama, ever so fleetingly and then ignored him…didn’t even shake hands with him at the end.

Schadenfreude on February 8, 2013 at 8:14 PM

Obama flipped him the bird! Look at 38 seconds in, as soon as Dr. Carson gets up to the podium.

Reminds me of when Mother Teresa schooled the Clintons on abortion: http://www.orthodoxytoday.org/articles4/MotherTeresaAbortion.php

davidk on February 8, 2013 at 8:20 PM

The man has courage! This reminds me of when Mother Teresa called out President Clinton, HRC, and the Gores on abortion at a NPB in 1994.

“…If we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?…Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. This is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion.”

I liked Dr. Carson’s observation that a number of our founders were doctors, not lawyers, and that perhaps the problems of legislators is that too many of them are lawyers who want to “win” by hook or by crook.

His message of the liberating quality of reading should be televised into all schools across America.

His comments about “fairness” in taxing people was on the mark. We should not be punishing people for success.

Very well done.

onlineanalyst on February 8, 2013 at 8:48 PM

He rightly casts political correctness as thought policing. He says that political correctness keeps people from speaking their own ideas, even as the fabric of their country is changing.

“We cannot fall for that trick.”

So, long story short, I’m a tentative fan here. :)

. . . onward

It may have been mentiond above, but Dr. Carson is one of the most brilliant surgeons in the world. He performed the first in utero neurological surgery and has separated seveal sets of Siamese twins. In his autobiography “Gifted Hands” he credits God saving him from committing murder and his single mom pushing him to excellence. My son read it back in elementary school, then reread it. Dr. Carson’s story is remarkable and inspirational. This is a man with 10 times the intelligence and 100 times the integrity of anyone in the regime. I have no doubt he came to his prescription empirically from his own analysis. God bless him and his independent spirit.

I have watched this completely 3 times so far today. Moving to say the least. And that the fine Dr. did this with BHO at the table is the icing. Plan talk, great ideas and commonsense approaches.

Montjoie on February 8, 2013 at 9:11 PM

No, I don’t think so. Allah has I believe tag lined them properly. Rivals. Though this label could easily become, Adversary, if not already. The party is being fought for. A serious issue for party sustainability I think. For too long the establishment side has taken for granted the Conservative and Libertarian sector of the party. This will be quite possibly the last fight for unifying a party which is currently in decay.

I hope the president was humbled by this mans words, but all he looked like to me was bored and agitated.

scalleywag on February 8, 2013 at 10:18 PM

His appearance on Hannity’s TV show, tonight, was fantastic.

He’ll be invited back next week.

He said the response to his b-fast speech has been 99.5% positive and he’s had so many suggestions to run for president that he could finance it if all would send a quarter.

Also, his mom, who had only 3 years of schooling…eventually got her high school degree and has an honorary doctorate now.

She applauded the support for the children, the schooling help he provides, the opportunities. She actually appeared to applaud his good deeds. Obama couldn’t even get to do that, out of fear that his libtards would notice. B. Obama is a poor sap.

Schadenfreude on February 8, 2013 at 10:21 PM

On the Hannity show the Dr. came across as modest, balanced and very nice…just wants to solve problems and absolutely hates PC. Loves the US and what she represents and did for him. Thinks she could go the way of Rome, due to ignorance of the populace.

Schadenfreude on February 8, 2013 at 10:22 PM
