Austerity does not contract growth. Massive spending just artificially inflates the impression of growth while hobbling the real economy.

It can if it’s across the board. Government austerity however frees up capital and credit that the private sector puts to far more productive use.

Just in Time models require retailers stock as little inventory as possible in order to maximize efficiency, in some cases as little as three days worth. What happens if the trucks stop or there is panic buying? I’m glad I’m old enough to remember when Johnny Carson made a joke about a toilet paper shortage.

That’s always been the case, all republicans / conservatives see that. The problem is that the gatekeepers for many people are the press. They decide who is a legit candidate, who isn’t. They decide which blogs / news sources are “reliable sources” and which aren’t.

They are in that gatekeeper role and no matter what republicans do, there is no way to get around the gatekeeper if they hope to reach anyone who doesn’t exclusively watch fox news and read the wsj and ny post.
