I don’t remember the use of the term bullet but I remember it had a good beat and was easy to dance to.

The announcement over the weekend of an agreement in principle on a reform package, and the rollout yesterday, pre-empted Obama’s opportunity to take the lead on the issue.

Obama’s speech this afternoon was a rope-a-dope. It was last minute reposturing brought on by members of his own party asking him to stay out of it, or asking him at least not to torpedo the bipartisan effort. He realized that he’d look bad if he torpedoed it now, so he put it off a week or two. The only thing that has changed is the timing.

He won’t torpedo it today. He’ll torpedo it tomorrow. He wants to inflame this issue for election 2016. Bank on it.
