Show me one President that does not get credit for “good things” that occur simultaneous to his term(s). Perhaps you’ll state Bush 1 and 2, Reagan? Coincidence? Let’s take a look at Clinton, he gets 100% credit for a ridiculous technology boom, far outside his purview. Somalia? Bosnia? Haiti? Women? Elected because of Perot? 2 years before Republicans got elected and grew a pair, held the budget? Good = Clinton, Bad = didn’t happen. FDR? JFK? LBJ? oh right, 100% perfect terms, because well, we are told so.

Now let’s head back to current President. All credit, no blame…it’s no longer just a trend, but merely the paradigm. Pay no mind to green on blue attacks, or the daily death tolls like the previous terms, pay no mind to unconstitutional actions, or the legislative bills that look like mongoloids. Pay no heed to debt, deficits, nationalizations, revenue/outflows, corruption. None of it matters….because he is one of them, and they, of the collective.

the party can point to those two as proof that their heaviest hitters were prepared to pass something until O screwed everything up. Result: Credit to Rubio for having tried, blame for The One for meddling when he didn’t have to, and no new weak-tea “comprehensive” bill.

Um, they can point all they want. The media will report Obama’s version-I wanted to let everyone in to become citizens and Democrat voters immediately, but the evil obstructionist Republicans wouldn’t let me. Reality and truth don’t matter. Only perception as filtered through the media (Obama’s base).

The first assumption that may be wrong is that all of the new potential hispanic voters will be Democrats.

It’s not an assumption. Of course not ALL of them will vote Democrat, but we’ve had multiple amnesties over multiple decades that proves the overwhelming majority of them will.

McAmnesty has already marginalized himself in the party. Why would Rubio want to do it too? Would we have been better of with Crist instead of Rubio? For me Rubio is dead. And Malkin is screaming for blood. I wouldn’t mind seeing a few quarts of his political blood spilled on the pavement. I doubt he would learn any better than McAmnesty has regardless of what happens to him. The establishment has already co-opted the idiot.

I agree with you but I believe that you will have about as many true belief in what the “right thing” is as you have congress critters. And I also agree about the votes, I have a problem with lawbreakers getting rewarded. I wouldn’t. I laughingly call it an equal protection problem.

IOW: The last argument I want to hear from conservatives is that immigration reform is bad because it will make more Democratic voters (or won’t make more Republican voters). Who cares who “they” vote for?

If we reformed the immigration laws to filter in the makers and filter out the takers, maybe the prospective Dem voter advantage won’t materialize. That’s the way I’d play it.

I read an article on that. It said that most of the people come here for financial reasons, as far as government goes, they think all of them are corrupt and they have not experience with possibility of change through the people so it doesn’t even enter into the equation for them.

And the many more who only worked temporarily and left? How many Chinese busboys do you think you could hire if they were legal Chinese immigrants? How would you know if they were receiving benefits anyway? They were working under the table right?

He has a chance to set millions of illegals on the path to citizenship, which, judging by current electoral trends, will mean millions of more Democratic votes on balance at some point in the not-distant future, and he’s going to pass on that so that he can keep on demagoging the GOP for a few more years?

Maybe more Dem votes somewhere down the road is not his main goal. Maybe his goal is something different, maybe with a shorter time frame than that.

The fact that Democrats are already working to neuter an already neutered border-enforcement gimmick like a blue-ribbon commission before the “comprehensive” bill has even been drafted tells you everything you need to know about their true ambitions here.

That provision get’s neutered, so will a large segment of Congress if they vote for it.

Given the choice, once they are legal, that our uneducated and unskilled citizens have of government benefits why would they be likely to continue doing these tough jobs? They won’t. They will go on the dole and a whole new crop off illegals will replace them.

I think you would have to factor in the lack of jobs in general. If Obama sycophants, adjunct professors, aren’t getting Obamacare, is it crazy to think that illegals paid under the table are going to be covered?
