Report: Palin parts ways with Fox News

posted at 6:51 pm on January 25, 2013 by Allahpundit

Her choice, not theirs, according to a source who spoke to RCP.

After a three-year run as a paid contributor to the nation’s highest-rated cable news channel, Sarah Palin and FOX News have cut ties, according to a source close to the former Alaska governor.

“It’s my understanding that Gov. Palin was offered a contract by FOX, and she decided not to renew the arrangement,” the source close to Palin told RCP. “She remains focused on broadening her message of common-sense conservatism across the country and will be expanding her voice in the national discussion.”

The source declined to say whether Palin would pursue a television contract with another news network, such as CNN.

Not surprising given what happened last year at the convention, although the Times claims she and Fox were negotiating a new contract as recently as last week. Maybe she has another offer on the table that’s sweeter than theirs?

My first thought when I read the RCP piece was that Mark Begich is up for reelection next year and is already preparing for a strong conservative challenge, but NRO’s Robert Costa tweets some skepticism:

I thought challenging Begich, a weak blue incumbent in a very red state, was her best bet back to political office, but maybe she’s transitioned to Arizona now. (Costa hears that she’s still occasionally in touch with Joe Miller, who appears to be planning to challenge Begich himself.) If not politics, then what? Hard to believe she’d trade Fox for CNN. Maybe … Glenn Beck’s network, The Blaze? It had 300,000 online subscribers as of last summer and must have many more now, especially since Dish Network started airing it in September. And Beck’s aggressively trying to promote it, from making a bid on Current TV to gain a platform on basic cable to opening foreign bureaus in hopes of becoming a sort of libertarian alternative to Fox. She’d instantly raise the network’s profile and bring in new viewers. And there’s plenty of room on the programming schedule for her: The channel currently airs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET with a two-hour block free from 2-4 so they could give her her own show if that’s what she has in mind. If I had to bet, I’d bet that’s where she goes.

{{HUGS all round}}

After an hrs drive with a stop for a McD breakfast, I got to the clinic with 10 mins to spare, enough time to suck down some cigarette smoke!

My infusion started at 9.16am and ended at 2.45pm…

It is a long and tiresome day…cuz they give me infused benedryl and a steroid…cuz apparently the Rituxan can cause pain or I could reject it. Rituxan is a chemo drug…

Right now I feel pretty darn good!

In 2 weeks I go back for another infusion which will set me up for 4 or 5 months of no RA aches and pains and fatigue!

Lupus is another thing, think I am holding my own there :-)

So folks I am alive and kicking!!

I shall probably not be on QOTD tonight. So whom ever reads this, please give my thanks and appreciation to everyone!!

From “The 2013 TIME 100″ (h/t c4p)

Leaders
Rand Paul

U.S. Senator, 50
By Sarah PalinApril 18, 2013

MARK SELIGER FOR TIME
When the Tea Party movement wanted to send a message to the Senate in 2010, it elected a clear-sighted eye doctor from the Bluegrass State. In a D.C. too often defined by the venal equivocations of a permanent political class more interested in consolidating its own power than in upholding the Constitution or defending the common good, Senator Rand Paul is a voice of reason awakening the public to what must be done to restore our prosperity and preserve the blessings of liberty for future generations. His brand of libertarian-leaning conservatism attracts young voters, and recently he inspired the nation with his Capraesque filibuster demanding basic answers about our use of drones. I sent him some caribou jerky from Alaska to help keep up his strength on the Senate floor. There’s more where that came from for this bold Senator with 20/20 vision willing to take a stand for liberty.

Palin is a former governor of Alaska

Now Governor, there’s the matter of a certain Senator from Arizona…

Go Boston, prayers for the Texans.

I think I did the first version of this post four years ago:

Remembering an April morning…1775

What made the farmers fight in 1775?

Judge Millen Chamberlain in 1842, when he was twenty-one, interviewed Captain Preston, a ninety-year-old veteran of the Concord fight: “Did you take up arms against intolerable oppression?” he asked….

I finish the anecdote, and the rest is told in links to these places and events at videos, National Park sites, historical sites, blogs, and maps:

April 19th, 1775 — Patriots’ Day

Hour by Hour — Details of the Day

The Old North Church — Paul Revere’s Ride

Hancock-Clarke House — Buckman Tavern — Hartwell Tavern

Two If By Sea — The King’s Own

Lexington Battle Green — An Eyewitness Account

Battle at Concord’s North Bridge — Battle Road

Meriam’s Corner — Parker’s Revenge — Munroe Tavern

Blogging the Redcoats — Blogging the Revolution

Mapping The Rides — Mapping The Region — Mapping The Revolution

God Bless America.

“April is the cruelest month, breeding lilacs out of the dead land, mixing memory and desire, stirring dull roots with spring rain.”

~T.S. Eliot quotes

Chicago’s been hit with flooding all around us. We are fine, no flooding at all but many roads and businesses were closed yesterday. Daughter’s future father-in-law’s church was under water. Very sad. Now, it’s snowing. Add this to the tragedy in Texas and the lunatic Islamists in Boston… April is indeed cruel.

Fallon on April 19, 2013 at 11:30 AM

INC, my debt to you is enormous. Your France coverage gave me the opportunity to bring up the implications of homosexual marriage to my son with supporting evidence. Today, he actually asked for links, which, thanks to your diligent work, were provided.

May your family receive the blessings that, in my humble opinion, you so richly deserve. Of course we also hope that KCB is successful as well.

Fallon, didn’t realize you were local talent. Excellent. While the weather has its downside, at least we have fresh water and no tornadoes or hurricanes, so there’s that.

Good afternoon dear gulchers :-)

What a night! I could not sleep, so I watched everything unfold from about 10.30pm CST last night til I dropped at little after 9am this morning.

angrymike popped onto the QOTD thread early this morning :-D! He said that he was ‘exhausted’ after the election and needed time out, he also said he misses everyone, he will probably get on QOTD tonight! I let him know how he has also been missed by many of us.

I’m not so sure about the talent thing, but yup, I’m mired in Chicagoland. We’d love to move but, besides the house having depreciated quite a bit, all of our kids stayed within 45 miles or so. I can’t see us leaving anytime soon.

I had an interesting invite recently. A group of local conservatives are going to get together for a “soapbox” event. Three minutes to recite, rant, rave, whatever… It sounds interesting and fun. And, speaking of INC, I had this to share:

Obama’s national curriculum: Rotten to the Common Core (Part 1)

…Recently, the Illinois State Board of Education began the process of informing taxpayers of the new federally bench-marked Common Core Standards Initiative. The High Implementation Cost for Illinois will be $733 million dollars” over the next seven years. Was an Illinois cost analysis ever conducted? How will Illinois pay for this massive cost? What is more, Illinois Bill HB-23457 will not allow school districts to discontinue or modify any mandated activity regarding costs to Common Core, thereby ceding the sovereign rights of Illinois. (Pioneer Institute and American Principles Project White Paper. No. 87, May 2012)…

Oh, Fallon, I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. I’ll be praying for her and for you. Do you have siblings in the area who can help?

I’m glad to hear the hospice people are huggers. *Hugs* to you from us as well.

INC on April 23, 2013 at 11:10 PM

(((Scrumpy)))

Here are some hugs for you, too! I am so very glad to hear your treatments have apparently yielded some relief!!!

I have been sparse here due to the crud which is finally receding after two weeks. Thanks for all well wishes in that regard. Been trying to keep up with all the news and ‘deal’ with the tragedies of the last week as well.

Finally made a few forays into the threads and have met some resistance heh. Thanks to you Scrump, KA2 and bluefox again for having my back! Love you guys!

Congrats to INC and her hubby. My prayers continue until we know for certain he’s got the job. Sounds to me like he should and will!

Good to see you garym (your wife is your hero – so beautiful and precious) and Gohawgs! I’ve missed you!

Have missed our Gulch confabs lately and hope we will continue to be granted the blessings of our special home.

I treasure you guys daily. Sending lots of love all ’round.

…peace and strength!…Hospice people are good people…we just started having them come to my sisters home for my 95 year old mother…and they have been a source of comfort not just for my mom…but even more for my sister.

KOOLAID2 on April 23, 2013 at 11:29 PM

Oh my dear KA2. More hugs and prayers being sent to you, your mom and family as well. . .

Sigh. May God hold and comfort you.

I’m glad hospice is also being a blessing to your sister. Being able to share your thoughts and feelings with someone lifts some of the burden.

Wow, look at you guys & gals. 48 pages!! A lot of familiar “faces” and some that are new to me.

After reading several pages of comments, I only wanted to take a brief moment to let you know that I am adding my prayers to yours.

Prayers to our Lord and Savior:
Prayers of Thanksgiving
Prayers for strength
Prayers for comfort
Prayers for wisdom and discernment
Prayers for our country
Prayers for the Peace that surpasses all understanding

God bless you all!

Fallon dear, I’m so sorry to hear about your Mom as well as others here have expressed. We may never meet this side of Heaven, but be assured I care about you and others here. Have been praying for you and your family and especially your Mom several times today. It’s very hard to find the words but I pray the God of all Comfort will comfort you and your family and give you the strength you need.

May God bless you, your Mom and your family.

Mr. Kool, prayers for you and your Mom and family also. Good to hear you have Hospice and that will be so helpful. God Bless you and yours.

OP, So glad to hear you’ve survived your “crud”. One of the worst head colds I’ve ever had was in June of one year! Eat lots of yogurt now:-)

Scrumpy, What a Blessing that your treatment was successful and you feel so much better! Hope you’ve been relaxing in your nice chair that Fallon added here for you:-)

INC! That is good news I know. Prayers that it goes well for hubby.

Garym, Thanks for sharing what your wife went thru! That was quite an ordeal. Oh, yes she would be anyones hero:-) She must be a very strong person in more ways than one:-)

Scrumpy, you know I am not often out there on the threads commenting (QOTD particularly), so I don’t know what has happened. I don’t wish to pry, but my sensors are going off big time. Are you okay??

To Tom Daschle: I have never seen you here in 48 pages. Are you not a Sarah Palin fan?

You are one of those who attacked when I deigned to speak after a very long time – due to a stroke! I did not appreciate it at all. Your criticism was baseless. There are entirely too many ankle biting, troll slaying, testosterone heavy males on this site. You purported to call me out on grammar??!! I am a J.D.; all lawyers in every firm I ever worked for came to me to proof their briefs. I was an Editor for a publication in Paris which was sold in 23 countries to firms such as ITT and IBM.

Waiting for your apology!!!

Doubt I’ll ever hear it. Pffft.

Opinionator on April 26, 2013 at 4:05 AM

I am ok sweety, I just had enough of all the lies the media and our govt put out, to the point it was affecting ME! I was angry all the time, and that’s not good, and feeling helpless even tho I have pestered my politicians so much so I believe they ignore me now. I have stopped listening to and reading anything but my local news.

I took down my blog because I let the media influence me to a greater part. I didn’t like the direction it was going, besides there are far better ones out there than my piddly effort :-).

Now, Tom Daschle, I would hope that you apologise to Opinionator, I don’t know what ensued, but we sure as heck don’t need to ‘fight’ each other.

That was another thing, good folks getting on to each other for the stupidest things/reasons, not tolerable.

QOTD became a fun ‘hangout’ :-)it was nice, I may come back there.

Still, this is a political/news site and I really don’t want to know whats going on.

It’s just more lies upon lies from everywhere…

HA has so many good people here, strong people…

God Bless everyone :-)

Later peeps!

Scrumpy on April 26, 2013 at 11:52 AM

Good Morning all!! We have sunshine, but still in low 40′s.

Still keeping everyone in prayer.

OP, you may like the last page of last night’s QOTD. A lot of interesting (non-political:-) History info:-) A lot about that OK 100 year old time capsule opened this past week. Pics & awesome things. I was up soooo late, LOL

I think Scrumpy just doesn’t want to deal with all of the depressing political news right now. That’s what I feel from what she said. I don’t blame her, it can be overbearing. I just it off at times. That’s my opinion from what she said.

Hope you are doing better too.

Later!!

bluefox on April 26, 2013 at 12:01 PM

Well, I see I either can’t spell or forgot a word, LOL

s/b I just turn it off at times. Sorry!! I know we’re not supposed to stay up late and get up early, but I didn’t get up early:-)

bluefox on April 26, 2013 at 12:05 PM

Good afternoon, Gulchers!!!

This has been a strange week. Quick update… On Monday, I thought mom was going to die very soon, but she has had a bit of a recovery. She is sitting up in her wheel chair, trying to talk in sentences and is doing busy work with her hands. Best I can figure out, from searching the internets, is that some people respond to seizures with a rush of adrenaline (the fight or flight response). This gives them a period of clarity. It may last a few days or a few weeks. We’ll see, but it’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever witnessed. The fact that she had a severe seizure is still a very bad indicator, but I have had some interesting visits with her this week.

Now, Tom Daschle, I would hope that you apologise to Opinionator… Scrumpy

Wiser words have never been spoken… Tom?

Fallon on April 26, 2013 at 1:11 PM

Scrumpy – Thanks for your explanation! I know exactly how you feel about the incessant lies coupled with never ending, surreal, crazy bad political news and media views. I can’t even stomach FOX for the most part any more due to their ever increasing, left-drifting slant.

I seem to be giving myself more and more time outs as well lol. Often I want to just hang out with the Gulchers, share a meal, a bonfire and appreciate the finest HA contributors which are assembled here. :) Would that we could actually meet!

As for the infighting, again I agree. It is utterly maddening to speak up in a forum of – for the most part – peers who I admire and whose ideology I share to be immediately slammed because they don’t know my name! Several are always gunning to expose and bag their trolls. I’m not attributing that to Tom specifically because I can’t keep track of all the posters here. But I certainly don’t come here to argue or defend myself from those I admire! It’s bad enough having to deal with liberal family members. I can’t discuss anything of importance with them or liberal friends any more.

So my conversations re Boston go like this: Me – ‘It’s pretty awful what happened in Boston, eh’? Them – ‘Umm hmmm’. After years of warning them about Islam I can’t even bring it up any more. It would be like rubbing it in their faces. But I think this latest attack has them actually considering the reality and gravity of what we face. They can’t yet say it. So my next comments have been: ‘Well, I guess we should just stay away from crowds at this point. That’s not hard for me to do as I hate crowds anyway’. Then I laugh and change the subject.

Anyway, thanks again for having my back. You are a treasure! And as you say, we have so many good, strong people here. I do derive comfort in that!

bluefox – Thanks so much for a heads up on where to find a bit of interesting relief :). Thanks, too, for your cheery outlook and prayers. Mine are almost constant at this point, and are particularly focused on Gulchers (and others) who are facing very tough stuff. As wolfsDad so eloquently stated: God is indispensable!

Okay, m’dears, its Arbor Day and I’m gonna go pick up a free blue Spruce seedling (donated to all who want them by my town!) and plant it. The sun is out, leaves are appearing and I’m gonna change to an outside channel.

Thanks for hearing me out. . . I’m sending love and hugs.

I don’t know much about seizures but that is amazing that she is doing things she wasn’t doing before. I hope your visits with her
will be helpful to you both. Maybe the medication she is receiving will help with the seizures and let’s hope and pray the change you’ve seen continues.

Always praying and hoping for the best.

I hope you enjoy that OK “treasure chest”. When I get tired to the “news” I just surf around for something interesting:-) Maybe looking for good news will be helpful.

Oh, Arbor Day. That is nice your town is doing that donation. Several years ago we bought several tree seedlings & a lilac one.
They were so tiny, we put them in styrofoam cups with seed starting soil until they grew enough to put out. The only one that survived was the lilac bush!! It started blooming the 3rd year. I almost killed it, by transplanting it 3 times!!

Our forsythias bloomed the first week in April & 7 hosta plants I planted from roots are doing nicely. All in all, a nice Spring.
Enjoy yourself!! Glad you’re feeling better.

We have blue spruce trees around in abundance, along with all of the tall evergreens.
