Report: Palin parts ways with Fox News

posted at 6:51 pm on January 25, 2013 by Allahpundit

Her choice, not theirs, according to a source who spoke to RCP.

After a three-year run as a paid contributor to the nation’s highest-rated cable news channel, Sarah Palin and FOX News have cut ties, according to a source close to the former Alaska governor.

“It’s my understanding that Gov. Palin was offered a contract by FOX, and she decided not to renew the arrangement,” the source close to Palin told RCP. “She remains focused on broadening her message of common-sense conservatism across the country and will be expanding her voice in the national discussion.”

The source declined to say whether Palin would pursue a television contract with another news network, such as CNN.

Not surprising given what happened last year at the convention, although the Times claims she and Fox were negotiating a new contract as recently as last week. Maybe she has another offer on the table that’s sweeter than theirs?

My first thought when I read the RCP piece was that Mark Begich is up for reelection next year and is already preparing for a strong conservative challenge, but NRO’s Robert Costa tweets some skepticism:

I thought challenging Begich, a weak blue incumbent in a very red state, was her best bet back to political office, but maybe she’s transitioned to Arizona now. (Costa hears that she’s still occasionally in touch with Joe Miller, who appears to be planning to challenge Begich himself.) If not politics, then what? Hard to believe she’d trade Fox for CNN. Maybe … Glenn Beck’s network, The Blaze? It had 300,000 online subscribers as of last summer and must have many more now, especially since Dish Network started airing it in September. And Beck’s aggressively trying to promote it, from making a bid on Current TV to gain a platform on basic cable to opening foreign bureaus in hopes of becoming a sort of libertarian alternative to Fox. She’d instantly raise the network’s profile and bring in new viewers. And there’s plenty of room on the programming schedule for her: The channel currently airs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET with a two-hour block free from 2-4 so they could give her her own show if that’s what she has in mind. If I had to bet, I’d bet that’s where she goes.

Completely off topic, but who cares eh?

Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory,
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.

Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the beloved’s bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.

Bluegill, honey, don’t you think it’s time you stopped being so ridiculous and obsessive about Sarah Palin!

What has she ever done to you?

I would wager that you have never read her writings.

If you had, well, maybe you just cannot comprehend her, yeah, I think that is the problem with you, lack of comprehension.

Your rants against Sarah Palin are really tiresome and frankly quite silly.

Why don’t you give it a rest.

That song was beautifully haunting. I was one of the lucky ones, I met Andrew Breitbart and spoke to him a number of times (Chicago, twice, St. Louis, Madison, Nashville…) He was a force of nature. He has left such a void in the world. His mother passed away a day or two ago, making this, if possible, an even sadder day.

Does this one know it’s laughed at every time it soils the Gulch?

I say we just fry the damn thing and be done with it.

Here fishy, fishy , fishy.

But even with the great chefs assembled here and no matter how it’s treated, it will remain inedible and intolerable. I’ve heard that trolls get paid by the number of responses they elicit; therefore, this will be my last.

Lol! Right into the boat that one. ; ) Breadball is of course my replacement word for Palin. ; )

Aw, yes. Another day in the underbelly catacombs of HotAir, where the persecuted Palin cultists gather to perform their ritualistic “Sarah! Sarah!” chants. I see that the greasy worm Renalin has slithered in and has begun officiating the proceedings.

Gotta love those Palin cultists. Their numbers continue to dwindle by the day, and the memory of Palin falls further from the nation’s collective memory, but these devoted Palinistas keep the faith. Bless their hearts.

Bluegill
Lepomis macrochirus
If you grew up in the United States and went fishing as a kid, chances are good that the first fish you ever caught was a Bluegill. These feisty panfish are found throughout the country in bodies of water big and small. In some areas, especially during their spawning season, the males are strikingly colored with bright blue, purple, and orange. They often come up shallow, especially in the spring and summer, and can be observed from shore if the water is clear enough. They are a great fish to get kids hooked on fishing.
Bluegill are generally pretty easy to catch if you use small hooks that fit in their small mouths. However, just like any other fish they can stop biting. I was once fishing off of a floating dock in Southern California and catching Bluegill one after another. I probably caught over 30 in an hour. The bite eventually tapered off and then I couldn’t buy a bite despite trying everything in the tackle box. I said out loud that I thought the fish had moved on, but the park ranger overheard me and said it wasn’t so. He took out an underwater video camera with a monitor, let down the camera on a cable, and showed me the screen. Bluegill were stacked tightly together from the bottom of the lake all the way to right under the surface. There were literally over 1,000 of them under that dock, but for whatever reason they stopped eating and I couldn’t get them to eat the rest of the day.
Bluegill fight well for their size but do not get very large. A 1lber is pretty decent fish, over 2lbs is a trophy and anything over 3lbs is approaching “fish of a lifetime” status. They taste ok but are kind of a pain to clean unless you have some bigger ones.

Bluegill Tackle

You should be able to catch pretty much any Bluegill on 2lb test line. You might go up to 4lb or 6lb if you are fishing heavy cover. Make sure you use an appropriately small hook as even the large ones have small mouths. My ideal setup would be a Daiwa Certate spinning reel in the 1500 size and an ultra light spinning rod. Click here to go to read more about recommended tackle.

Bluegill Techniques

Bluegill are most easily caught on bait but will often bite lures as well. I have caught several on a bare shiny gold treble hook. They are a curious fish and will put things in their mouth just to check them out.

Bluegill Lures

My most successful Bluegill lure has been a plastic mini jig as shown below. I have never found them to be that picky on the color, but green and gold or clear with glitter are what I usually start with. I like to fish the jig very slowly, suspending it at the depth I think the fish are at and then just twitching it occasionally with the line taught to detect their nibbling bites.

Some people like to target them with tiny poppers, either with fly fishing gear or spinning gear. I have caught a few that way but I can’t say it’s been a go-to technique for me.

Although it is not a good way to target numbers, all of my biggest Bluegill have been caught while I was fishing for Largemouth Bass with plastic worms or drop shotted plastics.

Bluegill Baits

It’s hard to beat a piece of worm fished under a bobber. If they are not biting a worm then good luck catching them on anything else. Don’t use too much worm or they will just grab the end and pull it off the hook. Crickets and mealworms supposedly work well although I have never used them.

Where to get the big Bluegill

Large Bluegill are found in so many lakes and rivers throughout the country it’s hard to pinpoint one or two trophy locations. In general, because of the longer growing season, they get bigger in the southern half of the US. My largest ones have mostly come out of Lake Barrett, near San Diego, California.

Other Bluegill Resources

The above barely scratches the surface on how to catch Bluegill. The resources below will provide a wealth of information:

Bmore on March 2, 2013 at 10:39 PM

Worms are a good bait for bluegills – so good, in fact, that you’ll go through scores of worms in no
time unless you economize. Once you’ve attracted a large school of ‘gills to your fishing area, use
progressively smaller bits of worm on your hook – these panfish are competitive, and when there’s
a school present, they’ll readily bite even the tiniest chunk of worm the instant it hits the water.

The careful eating went out the window this weekend, cupcakes, pizza, doughnuts, etc… Little one enjoyed her bday party as much as any one year old I’ve ever seen. She was amused by everyone and everything. She’s definitely an old soul.

Why does this come to mind:

Great green globs of greasy, grimy gopher guts,
Mutilated monkey meat.
Dirty little birdie feet.
French-fried eyeballs dipped in a pool of blood,
That’s what I had for lunch.

(I believe there are regional differences to the song but this is how I remember it from childhood.)

Bmore, I don’t know if it fits in your current series, but what about O’s Benghazi consulate?

The version I grew up with in Iowa:

Great, big gobs of greasy, grimy gopher guts
Mutilated monkey meat
Roasted alligator feet
Thirteen eyeballs rolling down the bloody street
And me without my spoon

Thanks for the cleanup, Fallon [although we're close to needing a fumigation team], and glad your granddaughter’s party was a success! An old soul, indeed. The younguns these days seem to be quite prescient!

Before I force myself to do some house cleaning (yuk), I want to rant :0 for a minute about social networking sites. Oh, I know they have their value, but they’re also insidious IMO.

Who was it, Bmore, who recently was investigating Twitter? It reminded me I thought I had an account – couldn’t remember. Today I went there and saw that I tweeted exactly one time in defense of Sarah Palin several years ago. It was in response to an idiotic Dave Weigel tweet. I learned today that Michelle Bachmann’s ‘team’ was thereafter ‘following’ me but there was nothing else to follow. lol

Within an hour I had an email message from Twitter welcoming me back and suggesting people I might want to follow – based on a single tweet. It’s kind of like Facebook, where I say something maybe once a year and get prodded back at least once a week to see all that I’m missing. LinkedIn hounds me, etc., etc.

I guess I’m old fashioned. I don’t text, tweet, talk on Facebook or appreciate their efforts to (further) entwine me in their webs, track my internet usage, buying habits, and otherwise interfere with my life.

I take ‘personal responsibility’ heh for signing up for these places in the first place. I could sign off. . . but I guess I’m curious about what they’ll pull next. Rant off. :))

Hope y’all have a lovely Sunday!

Good afternoon Gulchers:-)

Why HA doesn’t have a thread up about this, I don’t know. It’s about CPAC and after reading this, I wonder if Sarah will reconsider.

Wow, this sounds pretty bad. You will read about this David Keene in the article. But in the comments, which are informative this was asked:

Is this the same Mr.Keene that heads the NRA?

Yep

What is going on? I haven’t finished watching all of the videos yet.

Geller: …Grover Norquist’s troubling ties to Islamic supremacists and jihadists have been known for years. He and his Palestinian wife, Samah Alrayyes, who was director of communications for his Islamic Free Market Institute until they married in 2005, are very active in “Muslim outreach.” Just six weeks after 9/11, The New Republic ran an expose explaining how Norquist arranged for George W. Bush to meet with fifteen Islamic supremacists at the White House on September 26, 2001 — to show how Muslims rejected terrorism.

It would appear that all across America, the fox(es) are inside the henhouses.

Fallon on March 3, 2013 at 5:52 PM

It certainly appears so. Remember INC posting about that Common Core Federal Education mess? Well, Malkin is all over it. Parts 1, 2 and 3 so far. So much evil, hard to know how to fight it all!

Other than the Country going to the dogs, hope everyone is ok:-)

I’m still having issues with HA format. Wish they would get finished with what they are doing. I have a desktop with a 19″ monitor and their side ads take up about 5 inches of space! I think this is all Townhall’s idea. Never could use their site without it hanging up and freezing. Grrrr:-)

bluefox on March 3, 2013 at 6:28 PM

Aziz said that the word “Muslim” has become “racialized” and, once American criticism of Islam was silenced, the effect would be to “take [federal] money away from local police departments and fusion centers who are spying on all of us.”

And what was the response from Perez and the DOJ officials?

Nothing.

That’s right: no objection, no defense of our first amendment right to free speech.

I’m heading over to MM’s site now to read the Common Core info.

Fallon on March 3, 2013 at 9:27 PM

Even in red-state Texas, educators are indoctrinating kids into the Islamic faith. At Lumberton High School, a geography class was recently told to dress up in Islamic garb — including burqas — and refer to the 9/11 hijackers not as terrorists but as “freedom fighters.”

This isn’t an isolated event. There’s a coordinated effort by leftist do-gooders and multiculturalists to de-link Islam from violence and terror and rewrite history.

When educators, journalists and politicians hear no Islamic violence, see no Islamic violence and report no Islamic violence, beware, it’s Sept. 10, 2001, again.

Fallon on March 3, 2013 at 9:54 PM

Fallon on March 3, 2013 at 9:54 PM

I have to agree with you Fallon.

The insipid insidiousness of Islam snakes it’s way in and once it takes hold there is no getting rid of it.

Screw being politically correct.

Islam is a dark and devilish ‘faith’…

The sooner people wake up to it the better, especially our politicians.

One doesn’t have far to look to see what is happening where ever they settle and take over…

Islamophobia is a word the muslims specifically made up just for the purpose of being able to use it to say anyone who disagrees with them is of course a ‘racist’…

Since when can one be racist against a religion?

Islam is a religion not a race…

It’s kinda nice coming down to the gulch…

Great things are happening here!

Scrumpy on March 4, 2013 at 1:47 AM

Equally stunning, more than half of the 171 terror convicts analyzed by the London-based Henry Jackson Society are college-educated. Many are black converts. Nearly half were born and raised here, according to the report prefaced by former CIA director Mike Hayden.

It’s kind of a double racism isn’t it!

Most of the converts are blacks in prison…

They already feel that white americans are racist, so what better way than to join a group that gives them ‘license’ to perpetrate murder under the guise of Jihad!

Their cover is Islam and it is so convienient…

Wake Up Media!!

See it for what it is…
