Report: Palin parts ways with Fox News

posted at 6:51 pm on January 25, 2013 by Allahpundit

Her choice, not theirs, according to a source who spoke to RCP.

After a three-year run as a paid contributor to the nation’s highest-rated cable news channel, Sarah Palin and FOX News have cut ties, according to a source close to the former Alaska governor.

“It’s my understanding that Gov. Palin was offered a contract by FOX, and she decided not to renew the arrangement,” the source close to Palin told RCP. “She remains focused on broadening her message of common-sense conservatism across the country and will be expanding her voice in the national discussion.”

The source declined to say whether Palin would pursue a television contract with another news network, such as CNN.

Not surprising given what happened last year at the convention, although the Times claims she and Fox were negotiating a new contract as recently as last week. Maybe she has another offer on the table that’s sweeter than theirs?

My first thought when I read the RCP piece was that Mark Begich is up for reelection next year and is already preparing for a strong conservative challenge, but NRO’s Robert Costa tweets some skepticism:

I thought challenging Begich, a weak blue incumbent in a very red state, was her best bet back to political office, but maybe she’s transitioned to Arizona now. (Costa hears that she’s still occasionally in touch with Joe Miller, who appears to be planning to challenge Begich himself.) If not politics, then what? Hard to believe she’d trade Fox for CNN. Maybe … Glenn Beck’s network, The Blaze? It had 300,000 online subscribers as of last summer and must have many more now, especially since Dish Network started airing it in September. And Beck’s aggressively trying to promote it, from making a bid on Current TV to gain a platform on basic cable to opening foreign bureaus in hopes of becoming a sort of libertarian alternative to Fox. She’d instantly raise the network’s profile and bring in new viewers. And there’s plenty of room on the programming schedule for her: The channel currently airs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET with a two-hour block free from 2-4 so they could give her her own show if that’s what she has in mind. If I had to bet, I’d bet that’s where she goes.

BTW, in researching Common Core I discovered this:

Palin Was A Prophet About Obama’s Education Takeover

Sarah Palin was the first to recognize the problem: By participating in President Obama’s signature education initiative, the Common Core Standards, Alaska would lose control over its own curriculum.

On May 31, 2009, then-Gov. Palin announced Alaska would adopt a “watch and wait” attitude:

“If this initiative produces useful results, Alaska will remain free to incorporate them,” Gov. Palin said, adding that “high expectations are not always created by new, mandated federal standards written on paper. They are created in the home, the community and the classroom.”

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, to his credit, was the next to recognize a federal boondoggle when he saw one: “I will not commit Texas taxpayers to unfunded federal obligations or to the adoption of unproven, cost-prohibitive national standards and tests,” Gov. Perry wrote in a Jan. 13, 2010, letter to U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan.

In the ensuing two years, it’s become clear that Perry and Palin — two core conservative figures whose intelligence is routinely mocked by liberal “sophisticates” — were brilliantly prescient, indeed prophetic.

Common Core is the progressives’ attempt to nationalize education, even though we have three federal laws forbidding national curriculums. Erne Duncan has been sneaking it in under the radar while Obama was busy implementing other progressive policies.

I recall reading about this, but did it have a different name at one time? Will try to find my info. Maybe I’m thinking of some other type of Education policy that this Duncan was in. In the Primary, I think Gov Perry accused Romney of approving/endorsing and Romney lied.

Good for Gov Perry & Sarah on this tho.

I don’t think so. Obama had Race to the Top, but Common Core builds on that.

INC on February 19, 2013 at 9:01 PM

http://truthinamericaneducation.com/race-to-the-top/

The Governors and bureaucrats of the cash-starved states rolled over for the administration with only Governors Palin of Alaska and Perry of Texas initially refusing to commit.
Forty-two states made a commitment, but under the federally-imposed definition of “commitment,” not a single state legislature approved of it.

I’m writing on Common Core right now. Its lure was No Child Left Behind waivers (conditional of course) and money.

At the moment 46 out of 50 (yes, that’s right) states have approved it, but some states are working to get out of it. That’s not to say that it was brought into the states by the legislatures, because it hasn’t. I don’t know the stats on that, but in some cases I believe governors and/or bureaucrats have imposed it.

INC on February 19, 2013 at 9:08 PM

Of course, Phyllis Schlafly was on it from the get go as well. Education is one of her specialties. I think literally nothing has been written about it here. Michelle Malkin, however, has done 3 pieces on it so far this year.

It is sparking a grass roots uproar. I’ve been bumping into parent groups and blogs. There are many things in the works across the nation.

INC on February 19, 2013 at 9:13 PM

There is, of course, a radical connection to Common Core. I’m going to be writing on that tomorrow. That’s why you’re getting a gush of information!

People need to pay attention now. This is all about government control and indoctrination of our children and control of our money.

http://www.aim.org/special-report/terrorist-professor-bill-ayers-and-obamas-federal-school-curriculum/

Working behind the scenes, implementing these policies and writing the standards are associates from President Obama’s community organizing days. In de facto control of the education component is Linda Darling-Hammond, a radical left-wing educator and close colleague of William “Bill” Ayers, the former leader of the communist terrorist Weather Underground who became a professor of education and friend of Obama’s.

Another Utah graphic on the Linda D-H connection:

http://truthinamericaneducation.com/common-core-state-standards/president-obamas-education-roadmap/

PDF here to read the small print.
http://truthinamericaneducation.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/RoadmapNCLB_Flier.pdf

Social justice educator, Linda Darling-Hammond’s role in Common Core, education and wealth redistribution:

• President Obama’s campaign education advisor

• In charge of content specifications for Common Core Standards testing (as part of the Smarter Balanced
Assessment Consortia funded through Stimulus Funds). Yet, she is openly opposed to standardized tests….

• Chair of the Model Standards Committee of the Chief Council of State School Officers (CCSSO).
The CCSSO co-produced Common Core with Achieve, Inc. and the National Governor’s Association

• Appointed by Secretary Duncan to the Equity and Excellence Commission to examine the impact of school
finance
on educational opportunity and focus on systems of finance in order to recommend ways in which
federal policies could address funding disparities.

• Co-wrote the 2020 VISION ROADMAP to fulfill President Obama’s education goals. The Roadmap outlines how
Common Core should evolve into content standards that should empower the federal government to negate
America’s local school funding system and force the redistribution of local tax money across municipal lines.

INC on February 19, 2013 at 9:21 PM

You should also know about the databases and tracking. It’s not a conspiracy theory, either:

As part of Race to the Top, and elsewhere in the 2009 Stimulus bill, the states that wanted federal money had to commit to build massive student databases.

These databases are designed to track children from preschool (or earlier), through college, and into the workforce. The National Education Data Model recommends collecting over 400 data points – academic performance, disciplinary history, family income range, religious affiliation, health history, etc.

In January 2012, USED changed federal educational-privacy law to allow sharing of students’ personally identifiable data with any other government, or even private, entity, as long as the sharing is done to “audit or evaluate” an education program.

This has also been written up in PJ Media:
http://pjmedia.com/blog/arne-duncans-brave-new-world-dept-of-education-wants-your-kids-blood-type/?singlepage=true

But Logue says the feds are now trying to create something entirely different:

The Common Core standards were the vehicle to get the longitudinal database. … They want to get all these systems where they interconnect. … The data sets already exist and are coded.

Indeed PJM has seen the data sets — and they might be accurately described as a brave new world. While not all of the information in these sets is mandatory at this time, the level of detail being asked for is unsettling.

The sets include such things as hair color, eye color, gestational age at birth (whether a child was premature or not), blood type, blood test results, birth marks, and even bus stop arrival time.

Anita Dunn Says Fox News’ “Alternative Universe” Is Crumbling

Don Irvine — February 15, 2013

On Wednesday, during an interview with HuffPo Live, former White House Communications Director Anita Dunn said that the departure of Dick Morris and Sarah Palin from Fox News signals that the network’s “alternative universe” is crumbling.

Dunn created a controversy in 2009 when she told Time magazine that Fox News is “opinion journalism masquerading as news,” and followed that up on CNN by saying that the network “often operates as the research arm of the Republican Party.”

Wednesday’s interview shows that her opinion of Fox hasn’t changed and that she thinks the network is in trouble:

HuffPo: At what point do you make this decision inside the White House, that it’s time to fight back? (Against Fox)

Dunn: Well, I think that it was a simple decision given the fact that Fox News has been the not-so-loyal opposition since the President had taken office. What I said that day was the culmination of months of relentless attacks from Fox News. Where they would take an opinion piece, and then give it to their news division to go get people to respond to it, and then have the opinion people talk about the response and basically create news. And I think what you’re seeing now with Fox is that the alternative Fox universe that they created for four years is crumbling, and Roger Ailes who is nothing if not an excellent television person and very smart executive, is realizing that the creationism of the past has to end, and so you see the Fox evolution

Also, Jeb Bush has a foundation with its fingers in Common Core. I know in Florida, but I think nationally. I haven’t written that up and so I’ll be doublechecking that.

Jeb is so over. CC came in under the radar, but the more people know, the more they’re motivated to stop it.

CATO had a great piece a while back on CC’s stealth mode.

http://www.cato.org/publications/commentary/honey-when-did-feds-take-over-kids-school

Unfortunately, there is another, much more disturbing reason that national standards have been flying under the radar: Stealth is essential for its proponents to succeed.

The last national standards push was in the 1990s, and it disintegrated almost the moment proposed federal standards were released. Everyone, it seemed, was paying attention, and every diverse American found something in the very detailed standards to hate.

Avoiding a similar fate explains why the CCSSI furnished only mathematics and language arts standards, and why the latter identify almost no specific works students must read….

The second key to keeping things hush-hush has been to deceive the public about what — and who — is driving the standards. Contrary to proponents’ incessant refrain, standardization has been neither “state led” nor “voluntary,” and it’s the heavy hand of the super-unpopular federal government that’s shoving everything along….

Finally, to keep the public from grasping what’s happening, standardizers have rushed adoption of the Common Core standards. They were released on June 2 [2010], and Race to the Top required adoption just two months later.

One good thing I will say is that the grassroots I’ve read are smart and they are determined. They’re focused like a laser on demolishing CC.

FWIW I think I’m seeing a level of intensity and organization that I think surpasses the Tea Party. That may be because they’re focused on one issue, and because they are parents and teachers who are fighting for their children. That brings an intensity like nothing else does.

The Truth in American Education is posting info about state legislatures who are trying to undo this.

Ok, I found what I recall. Was using 2 difference PC’s and finding info isn’t easy:-)

By Alyson Klein on September 23, 2011 1:37 AM
Thursday night’s GOP presidential debate offered the clearest sign yet that the Republican field is united on K-12 policy: Basically, they all want the feds out.

Perry accused Romney of being the only person on stage in favor of “Obama’s Race to the Top.”

Supporting Race to the Top, Perry said, is “an important difference between the rest of the people on this stage and one person who wants to run for the presidency. … Being in favor of the Obama Race to the Top. That is not conservative.”
He said he favors school choice, hiring effective teachers and paying them properly, high standards, and accountability through tests.
But the moderator pressed Romney, asking if Perry’s contention on Race to the Top was untrue.

“I’m not sure exactly what he’s saying,” Romney replied. “I don’t support any particular program that’s he’s describing.”

Benghazi Survivors Remain Gagged by Federal Law

by Kerry Picket 20 Feb 2013, 2:00 AM PDT

Many continue to ask why the media and lawmakers have not spoken to or brought forth those who survived the deadly attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi last September. The truth of the matter is the Americans who survived that attack cannot legally reveal to members of the press or most lawmakers that they were even witnesses to the attack in Benghazi.

According to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, immediately following the attack, the FBI, as part of the agency’s investigation, interviewed survivors of the Benghazi attack.

Bill Bransford, a Washington, D.C. attorney at Shaw Bransford & Roth P.C. who specializes in federal employment law told Breitbart News on Tuesday, “First of all, I’m assuming that most of these people who witnessed the attack, except for the State Department folks, would be intelligence people, and they are not covered by the whistle blower protection laws.”

Bransford added, “They are covered by whatever policies their agency has. An executive order that President Obama issued in the late fall in which he ordered the intelligence community to come up with a more effective whistle blower protection system, which has not yet been developed.”

However, as federal employees, State Department personnel must sign non-disclosure agreements. Bransford stressed, “If somebody violates one of these non-disclosure agreements, the consequences could include: interfering with a criminal investigation, obstruction of justice, criminal charges for releasing classified information, and those are pretty serious…”

Curiouser and curiouser…

My dad could yodel but he told us kids not to try it, it ruins your vocal chords. Mine weren’t that good to begin with… but I can whistle, lol.

You know how to whistle, don’t you, Steve? You just put your lips together and… blow.

Fallon on February 21, 2013 at 12:05 PM

Oh, dear, I found this:

I’m sorry but according to HA Rules and Guidelines, page 7, subheading 3.2, there is a 5 posts in a row limit. Please do not exceed this.

Bishop on April 8, 2011 at 7:40 AM

I’m off to go turn myself in. Later… :(

Fallon on February 21, 2013 at 12:13 PM

Here you go, Fallon. The next five posts are all yours.

Awesome movie. Just saw it again about 4-6 weeks ago. I understand that was her first movie.

bluefox on February 21, 2013 at 1:58 PM

Glad you all are holding down the fort (gulch) I was busy on the Rove thread and a couple of others. Now, calling my State Senators/Reps/Gov etc since Kasich has decided to take the Medicaid Expansion money. Grrrr

Haven’t check the front page of HA yet, but Gov Scott caved also.

There must be a lot of spines flying around somewhere. Several Govs have lost theirs.

Fallon on February 21, 2013 at 5:55 PM

What is that sound I hear? Oh, it’s the sound of the remaining pockets of Palin worshipers realizing that their incompetent Queen Quitter’s career is over.

bluegill on February 21, 2013 at 10:52 PM

…it’s your brain farting you nucken futty worshiper.
“Incompetence”…is when someone can LOSE TO JUGEARS when every historical indicator is saying it was IMPOSSIBLE to LOSE!
You should slap yourself silly in the head…but sh!t stains!

Gorgeous, gracious gifted Gov. Sarah Palin was, is, and ever shall be the populist princess & conservative queen of American politics. Deal with it, liberals.

Something good to end the evening with and to wake up to in the morning!!

conservative tarheel on February 22, 2013 at 8:43 AM

Mornin’ all! Busy shovel day for me this morning. Neighbors’ moving van blocked my driveway so I decided to shovel around the block instead of going to the gym. That’s too much shoveling, even for me (who loves to shovel.)

Now, I’m thawing out and sipping on some fresh brewed coffee. I made a full pot, so grab a cup. Don’t cost nothin’.

Neighbors’ move is now a two moving van job, dear neighbor has a lot of stuff.

I got invited to go to CPAC with some people. I can’t decide if it will be worth it. I’m kinda tired of handing money hand over fist to these things but it could be fun. Whaddya think. Should I go?

Ok, I’m going to be made fun of for saying this (and it has nothing to do with politics), but doesn’t Mitt look amazing in this video?

He looks like a model from a Polo Ralph Lauren commercial.
