Report: Palin parts ways with Fox News

posted at 6:51 pm on January 25, 2013 by Allahpundit

Her choice, not theirs, according to a source who spoke to RCP.

After a three-year run as a paid contributor to the nation’s highest-rated cable news channel, Sarah Palin and FOX News have cut ties, according to a source close to the former Alaska governor.

“It’s my understanding that Gov. Palin was offered a contract by FOX, and she decided not to renew the arrangement,” the source close to Palin told RCP. “She remains focused on broadening her message of common-sense conservatism across the country and will be expanding her voice in the national discussion.”

The source declined to say whether Palin would pursue a television contract with another news network, such as CNN.

Not surprising given what happened last year at the convention, although the Times claims she and Fox were negotiating a new contract as recently as last week. Maybe she has another offer on the table that’s sweeter than theirs?

My first thought when I read the RCP piece was that Mark Begich is up for reelection next year and is already preparing for a strong conservative challenge, but NRO’s Robert Costa tweets some skepticism:

I thought challenging Begich, a weak blue incumbent in a very red state, was her best bet back to political office, but maybe she’s transitioned to Arizona now. (Costa hears that she’s still occasionally in touch with Joe Miller, who appears to be planning to challenge Begich himself.) If not politics, then what? Hard to believe she’d trade Fox for CNN. Maybe … Glenn Beck’s network, The Blaze? It had 300,000 online subscribers as of last summer and must have many more now, especially since Dish Network started airing it in September. And Beck’s aggressively trying to promote it, from making a bid on Current TV to gain a platform on basic cable to opening foreign bureaus in hopes of becoming a sort of libertarian alternative to Fox. She’d instantly raise the network’s profile and bring in new viewers. And there’s plenty of room on the programming schedule for her: The channel currently airs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET with a two-hour block free from 2-4 so they could give her her own show if that’s what she has in mind. If I had to bet, I’d bet that’s where she goes.

Awwww. My Mom had similar problems for years. No Tablets available in those years and she had to do with a magnifying glass also.

I just thot maybe the e-books may be easier and better with the ability to enlarge the text. I have a Nook Color and it works well, but with the Amazon free app, I have a larger selection of e-books:-)

bluefox on February 10, 2013 at 5:41 PM

Before I go off to cook, wanted to mention that Adobe put out a critical zero day on 2/7. I updated my PC’s. It has to do with security issues involving ads on websites that use Flash (which don’t?) And as many ads HA puts up the risk is greater.

I just opened a new window on one of the threads and the comments weren’t even updated. I had to refresh the thread. I don’t know what their webmaster is doing, but it’s not acting correctly.

Bmore on February 10, 2013 at 5:58 PM

No, I’ve never tried that, but will read about it. My network are all PC’s:-) but I’m sure that wouldn’t make a difference. Never cared for FF and their constant updating to new versions are as bad as Adobe, Microsoft and their constant updates:-)

However, just to clarify this latest Flash Player update, it’s the Flash ads have malicious code in some; that is the risk. Not the fact of blocking the ads. You don’t have to click on the ads at all. At least that’s my understanding from the Security site info.
I just try to keep updates current to avoid any Malware, since I’ve had it before. Shut my entire system down and only having another laptop was I able to get rid of it. MBAM helped me or my PC would have been frozen.

Perhaps this Do not track site prevents malware? I haven’t read it yet, but will.

Downton Abbey is on:-)

bluefox on February 10, 2013 at 8:07 PM

Not sure what that is, but to the other. Its why many are moving away from flash and moving to html5. Of course mac has had a large hand in this change. Its why many devices no longer support flash. I find flash to be little more than a pain in the ass for what it does. html5 does a better job in most instances. Adobe I believe made an error with the investment in flash. When they first took possession of it they were slow to fix many of the issues. I am starting to think it may disappear all together in a few years. PC’s are inherently at more risk to corruption due to the way Gates insisted on writing the source codes over many years. Mac seldom if ever had any issues on that front. Though last year it has its first major attack. I have 5 macs none of them were even affected in the least. I did however install for the first time ever an anti-vius software. Its called Sophos. Not sure if it is just mac or not. It seems to do a great job, but with macs because there are so few incidents it is hard to tell. Lol! ; )

Downton Abbey is the blockbuster award winning series on PBS!
I had two taped shows to watch and the one on tonight, LOL. Whether it’s HTML5 or Flash, the bad guys will find a way I think. Too much money in what they do.

A family member with an iMac got their email hi-jacked and I had them install Kaspersky since they
had no AV/AS at all. Found around 15 or more trojans of various variants in files/Win32, etc. Since I receive
emails from them, I started getting emails from websites I had never emailed but they had!! So I have them
now email another account and keep my other email secure:-)

Kaspersky has also detected for them a couple of attempts at virus attacks so that’s good.

PPP, the Progressive Policy Polling outfit? LOL They would like nothing better than a contest between Palin & Clinton. Good luck Clinton trying to defend Obama. Even her own supporters wouldn’t buy that. What is she going to say, “the devil made me do it?”

I don’t personally think Sarah is going to make a run. Think she’ll do the same thing she did in 2010 and 2012. Get some opposition with backbone into Congress.

Sarah didn’t need Fox to get her message out before and don’t need them now. Those left wing traitors get on my nerves, LOL

Bmore on February 10, 2013 at 11:50 PM

No, it was thru their ISP, Roadrunner via Time Warner. I’ve tried and tried to get them to change it, but some people think they know it all?

AOL is a place to stay away from for sure. They install stuff without your permission and knowledge!!

Yahoo, I’m not sure what’s going on with them. They’ve made a lot of changes with spam control, etc and tried to make the site more secure. But it could be that the volume of people that use Yahoo has something to do with it. You’d be surprised the risky programs/activex controls that are on people’s computers.

If Sarah Palin abandoned her divisive ways and instead worked to unify Relublicans, then I think I could become a fan. If she doesn’t run, and if she tries to bring people together instead of dividing them, then I would feel very good about her. She also needs to study up a bit on the issues and act a bit more professionally in tv interview situations.

The worst thing about Palin are her groupies who badmouth any Republican not named Palin.

Three required things to get Palin back on my good side:

1) she abandons her divisiveness
2) she doesn’t run for president, and she quits the silly “will I? won’t I?” tease.
3) her obsessed groupies are taught to shape up. Most probably can be reformed (and in the last two years many have lost interest in her, anyway), but those that can’t should be marginalized.

1) Why doesn’t Mitt run for the US Senate seat vacant in MA? It’s another “box” to check?

2) How has his son telling the truth about Mitt not really wanting to be POTUS affected family harmony?

3) Is it really true, as Huey Lewis once said, that it’s hip to be square?…

How is Sarah celebrating her birthday? Not what you think:

Todd and I are in Dallas today to attend Chris Kyle’s memorial and funeral service. I find it sad to see that flags aren’t flying at half staff for this American hero. We’re surrounded today by American patriots here in Texas – by Chris’ fellow veterans and active duty warriors. In honor of them, I hope our commander in chief pays his respects in some gesture of condolence for their comrade in arms who sacrificed so much to keep him and all of us safe.

We may never know to what extent Chris kept us free or how many lives he saved by his brave actions in the line of fire. But his fellow warriors know how important he was. My son Track couldn’t meet Chris when Todd and I first met him because Track was deployed to Iraq. Then when we got to know Chris even better, our son was deployed in Afghanistan. We’ve met a lot of people in recent years, and Track has been privileged to meet them as well. But he said about Chris, “Mom, he’s the ONE person in the entire world I would be star-struck to meet. He’s it.”

God bless this great warrior. Let us keep his wife and children in our prayers, and may we never forget him or his sacrifice.

Would that she could join us. She’d probably bring grilled salmon or her moose stew.

Opinionator on February 11, 2013 at 1:00 PM

Hi Opinionator, was wondering where you were:-) I’m glad I ate since all these food mentions were making me hungry. Good recipe for “Moose Stew”, LOL

Sarah & Todd may be having Texas BBQ today tho.

Maybe this one would be even more appropriate for Sarah these days? Happy Birthday Sarah!

That’s what I think :). I noticed her salmon has sort of a Carolina BBQ sauce flair with cider vinegar.

I’ve checked in but didn’t want to be a big mouth around here. Last night I came in late – very tired – saw all the “lasts” and then neglected to notice there was a new page (!) Lol

Bmore, I like them both. Maybe, one out in front and one in back by the lake/ocean/river/pond.

I can bring fried chicken, blackeyed peas with bacon and mashed potatoes.

Would that she could join us. She’d probably bring grilled salmon or her moose stew.

I like the idea of a smorgasbord of fried chicken, grilled salmon, moose stew, Texas BBQ and all the trimmings. Yum. We’ll follow with a flaming Baked Alaska. Who’s good with lighting things on fire? I bet we can even fit the North Star whirlygigg on the buffet table as a centerpiece. Now, where did I put those grizzly bear balloons…?

Anchorage was recently declared one of America’s best cities for hipsters by Travel + Leisure. :)

No way. That is the funniest thing. They have invaded up there, too? I will take a Sarah Palin any day over those hipsters.

A sad day. Nice picture of Sarah and Chris nearby. I noticed several different website comments giving kudos to Sarah for saying how sad it was that Flags were not flown at half staff in Texas. I agree.

Thanks for posting the pic:-)

Short audio only of Sarah’s interview at the Chris Kyle Memorial today. First time I’ve heard her since being on Fox.
