I was born in the Paciic Northwest. I won’t go back. Even my father left it because of idiots such as this. I have a brother up there that rails against intrusive government but won’t leave. Ya get what ya deserve. After the next big one, there should be some good beach front property in Utah. I look forward to it.

There are a lot of conservatives here in Oregon. The problem is that we’re vastly outnumbered by the “progressives” that make up most of Multnomah, Washington and Marion counties.

“Medical marijuana” has been legal in Oregon for several years now. It’s Washington state and Colorado that just legalized it.

I quit smoking thirteen years ago. My decision — not the government’s. But both before I quit and after I quit, I’ve maintained that I never smoked six or seven cigarettes, then got behind the wheel of a car and killed a family of five.

This whole anti-cigarette thing is stupid. It is legal, and it’s never going completely away. In Nebraska it is illegal to smoke in any public facility, including bars and restaurants. I’ve been against the idea from the git-go. If I own a restaurant or a bar or a bowling alley or whatever else, it should be my choice to allow smoking on premises or not — not the government’s. People are fully capable of deciding whether or not to patronize a place where smoking is allowed and whether or not to accept employment in a place that permits smoking. I find it truly pathetic to drive past a bar in way-below-zero temperatures and spy a handful of people huddled just outside the door sneaking a smoke. I also find it obnoxious to walk through a cloud of smoke to go into the grocery store.

The Tobacco Industry made a HUGE mistake when the BIG lawsuit was levied against them.

They should have simply stopped selling cigarettes to the states that were suing them. I mean the states were holding them responsible for Health Issues within the borders, so they comply with the state’s wishes by not selling there any more.

They would have only had to do the first two or three states to sign on, and the outcry would have put a halt to most of the nonsense that goes on now.

Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + (1)(a) The State Board of Pharmacy may not
adopt rules that exempt a product containing nicotine from
classification as a controlled substance.

This is an interesting inclusion. This means that nicorette gum and e-cigs would also require a prescription. This despite the fact that nicotine is not regarded as a carcinogen. These idiots believe these things are a gateway to cigarettes. They aren’t, in fatc just the opposite.
