There is no excuse — the attornies for the hospital have used an argument which sits well in Caesar’s court but not at all well in God’s.

If you read the last part of the article, you find that the Bishops of Colorado have issued a letter finding extreme fault with the argument which was advanced by the hospital and promising a complete review of the case. The lawsuit may not have been won in Caesar’s court, but it will be won in God’s.

I’m on travel right now and am sitting in my hotel room in Aurora, CO. I normally go to church in Los Angeles and rarely, in the prayers for the faithful, is abortion brought up, but here in Aurora, at St. Pius X Church, abortion and the death penalty were both brought forth via prayers for the faithful this day not just once, but three separate times. If proof by example is anything, the teachings and feelings at Mass here are consistent with the teachings of Jesus — and, by extension, with the interpretation of Scripture represented by the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

You certainly seem to stand by yours just as ardently despite the fact that big money and man’s law trumps God and God’s law in the Catholic Church.

As for me, I went to Mass this morning, as I do most Sundays. In Mass today, we learned about how the coming of Jesus and His teachings are the fulfillment of God’s promise to us — tied together fittingly by three readings — two from the Old Testament and one from the New.

At least we don’t have to depend on informing our consciences by reading something originally put together by people we dispise — as you do.

I don’t care if the services are popular or not – the federal government has no business spending money on it! Why is the federal government even involved in any of this? So they can grow the state and have it control every aspect of our lives. Just get the government out of it altogether! I hope you were actually converted and not just dragged to church all those years to act like a trained monkey, as sadly happens to many Catholic children.

If you were as interested in the terrorism and callous indifference displayed by Protestant denominations towards everyone NOT a Protestant, you would take back your postings and weep in shame.

Ever since their arrival in the New World, Protestantism has been the root cause of mass murder, forced conversions, illegal seizure of lands, and infamous pograms against Jews, Catholics, and immigrants of all stripes. Pretty much following the Islamic model in all things.

The government has no business paying for abortions. Period.

Fiscally, our problem is that we spend money on all kinds of things the government has no business in. Defense at least is a valid function of government. Welfare is not really a valid function of government, but it’s going to be very hard to roll back. When the government has been requiring people to “pay in” to a program, it’s nearly impossible to then turn around and refuse to “pay out.” Still, the more we can divest of pointless welfare and push people to get actual jobs, the better.

But taking taxpayer money to kill babies for the convenience of irresponsible men and women is completely indefensible. There should be no debate. The fact that they’ve been getting millions for generations to do something that half the nation objects to as essentially murder says tons about just how corrupt even a constitutional republic can be.

If you really care about fixing the debt, then our nation needs to quit spending money on things that are not valid functions of government. We’ll probably have to peel entitlements back program by program, but we can cut out taxpayer money for abortions without degrading the government one inch.

It has nothing to do with their business model and everything to do with their lobbying model. They get tax money from the politicians; they donate money to the politicians; the next year they get more money from the politicians. How else do you explain an 11% increase to ANY entity when we are overspending by a trillion dollars a year.

Your question should be applied to everything in the federal budget. Make every department, organization, agencies demonstrate the absolute NEED for every penney they are asking for.

I mean – you must have previously concurred that a Life begins at conception because that’s what somebody in the Catholic Church told you to believe when they weren’t being sued. Right?

Ya know – tell it to the souls of the victims of Catholicisms terrorism and tyranny over their 600 years+ reign of terror, torture, and execution during the Catholic Inquisition – and in the present to all the little boys who had their innocence stolen from them by Catholic Priests all across the entire world – and the Vatican who has done everything in its earthly power to render those young victims’ suffering and agony moot and their coffers as untouched as they could manage after the ensuing civil suits.

Well, the headline is certainly salacious, but the truth is much more mundane. The lawyers representing the Catholic hospital are arguing not on the basis of Catholic tenets, but on federal and state law. Since the state & federal laws refuse to bestow “personhood” on anyone not born alive, then the unfortunate deaths of the twins in utero cannot be used as a basis for claims of loss by the father. It’s simply an argument of defense based upon the prevailing law(s). I don’t like it, but it is what it is, and the hospital has every right to decide a legal case on the basis of extant law.

This story deserves more attention than it’s getting.
