The amount a citizen can expect to receive from entitlements will shrink a great deal over the next fifty years, but the total annual cost of entitlements to the country will keep rising until they are completely strangling the economy. At that point the total cost will begin steadily shrinking, but only because the GDP shrinks every year. As a percentage of the GDP, entitlements will never shrink for any significant period of time.

The only way that changes is if we get overrun by a conquering enemy that has no intention of sending retirement checks to old Americans or to the doctors of sick old Americans.

All this expand/share/appeal stuff is clearly aimed at the illegal immigrant vote and that term itself is an oxymoron. While we squint under the weak light of our CF bulbs, drink our size-limited Cokes and wash our clothes a second time due to poor cleaning from phosphate-free detergent, we continue to shake our heads at the flurry of laws aimed at actual citizens while we see brazen lawbreakers rewarded and courted.

The GOP needs to keep hammering home that they aren’t against a social safety net — rather, they’re actively for an economy in which opportunities are so readily available and attractive that people don’t want to be on welfare — and its the type of economy that cannot be achieved through federal orchestration.

I agree 100%. If we allow free markets to operate with less taxation, regulation, and government intrusion into the market, there would be more jobs, more economic opportunity, more growth, and…here is something that isn’t hammered home often enough…things would cost less. Important things like health care, food, and energy.

At the same time, the GOP needs to stop scaring away people who might otherwise vote for them if socons weren’t out there making it sound like all Republicans everywhere want to outlaw sex before marriage, stuff gays back in the closet, and outlaw all abortions everywhere.

Instead, the GOP should be consistent – point out it’s not government’s role to subsidize abortion or play favorties based on “diversity.” Battles like this have to be won on a local level by churches and individuals, not big government.

Just what is Jindal proposing?

90% of the GOP’s problem is SoCon idiocy, and ironically Jindal is part of the problem with his asinine position that abortion should be criminalized even in cases of rape.

And that comment right there encapsulates why I won’t be surprised if the GOP fractures at some point. The GOP’s problem isn’t social conservatives. No social conservatives in the party, you can kiss that party goodbye.

The more socially liberal Republicans insult and call socially conservative Republicans and Republican-minded conservatives idiots and what-not, the more we find the door more appealing, even knowing what it means for the party, the nation and themselves.

Killing the unborn on purpose is unconscionable – with the possible exception of the legitimate life of the mother at stake* – no matter the excuse. Two wrongs don’t make a right. A human life is a human life whether conceived in violence or not and has value and worth.

*I know exactly what I wrote and I said it on purpose. Anyone with sense knew what was meant the first time too… but the left and especially the right decided to play dumb and see it as pure ignorance. We will never know how many abortions take place because the mother’s life vis-a-vis medical health (as in life or death illness) is at stake, but it seems reasonable to suspect that a fair number of abortions done with that as a reason are done so questionably… is/was the mother’s life really at stake, or did the mother or doctor fudge? Oh, but that’s just ignorant to think that someone might lie to get an abortion… every reason for an abortion just has to be legitimate…

This Jindal is so stupid. If he wanted a dishwasher he would probably get a stove and try to turn it into a dishwasher. Why not just get a dishwasher in the first place, you moron.

I was waiting for someone to step up, and here came Rand. And though I worry about his isolationism, at least he isn’t bowing to a Caliph or waterboarding a bad indie film maker. His amnesty plan could still be a deal breaker.

Jindal – I can’t even remember whether that’s his first name or not, These GOP pretenders to the throne are as big as they are ever going be. It’s down hill from here for the “young guns”.
