Axelrod: Obama’s second-term priorities include more than just fiscal crises, you know

posted at 5:01 pm on January 20, 2013 by Erika Johnsen

Yes, we know.

Presidential adviser David Axelrod said Sunday that President Barack Obama’s priorities for his second term shouldn’t deal with just the fiscal crisis.

“There’s a larger priority … which is how do you create an economy — rebuild an economy in which the American dream, the American compact is fresh,” Axelrod said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “That’s not just dealing with the fiscal crisis; it’s about education; it’s about research and development; it’s about controlling our energy future. All of these are part of the equation, and we can’t just do one piece of it.”

He said those priorities shouldn’t be put on the back burner for the fiscal deadlines Washington keeps running up against.

There’s only one little problem for all of President Obama’s grandiose ambitions for education, infrastructure, research, and all of the other things we’re meant to believe the government needs to keep adding to its magnanimous to-do list, without which we’ll be helplessly stuck in the past while the rest of the world moves on to the economy of the future. All of these schemes are code for new and exciting ways in which the government can spend our money — and we don’t have any. Via Reuters:

President Barack Obama starts his second term in office facing unprecedented budget constraints that will challenge his ability to implement his economic vision.

Spending caps that Obama signed into law in 2011 will make it difficult to boost investment in education, scientific research, transportation and other areas that he says will help the country retool for heightened global competition and rapid technological change, budget experts say.

Because those caps won’t keep pace with inflation and population growth, the government will effectively have 16 percent less to spend in these areas by the time Obama leaves office in 2017, according to White House estimates.

That could constrain college loans, preschool education, job training and other programs that Obama says will boost national competitiveness.

All of the new action items, a.k.a. new spending ideas, in the world are only going to keep plunging us deeper into debt while we refuse to even attempt to seriously reform the entitlement state that is binge-eating all of our cash and then some, not to mention those sixteen trillion dollars already just hanging out in the red zone. People may be bored with cliffs and crises, but as long as President Obama and the Democrats continue to roundly ignore Republicans’ calls for entitlement cuts (and really, what incentive do they have to do otherwise?), our solvency will go unaddressed and money is only going to get tighter — although I’m sure they won’t let that put a damper on the spending spree. This is day 1,362 without a budget, I believe?

Anyhow, these chances-for-reform fiscal cliffs are just so dreary, so President Obama and the Democrats really need to accomplish some stuff to rally the base and get everybody excited; and as we’ve already seen in the past few weeks, immigration and gun control are currently on the top of that list. Ergo:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid isn’t letting the intense partisanship temper his expectations for the coming year and is planning an agressive agenda ranging from immigration and gun control to education and the economy. …

Sandy Hook Elementary School Violence Reduction Act

“There’s a larger priority … which is how do you create an economy — rebuild an economy in which the American dream, the American compact is fresh,” Axelrod said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Huh?? “Create an economy”? WTFFF? “Compact and fresh”? WTFF is this guy babbling about? What a friggin idiot.

How can anyone listen to these turds and not understand that they don’t have a clue as to what they’re talking about? We’ve got an ineligible guy in the White House who can’t deal with simple percentages (“reduce premiums by 3000%!!”) or understand fractions (“profit AND earnings ratios”) and there are still people who take the idiocies that spill out of his 84 IQ mouth seriously. It would be unbelievable … except that we’ve seen America treat this imbecile as if he even had half a brain for 4 years, now – lest anyone be called “raaaaacist!!”.

No nation that allows such mind-numbingly stupid people to have power is long for this world. And to have such an idiot in power who hates America and everything about our nation … it’s about time to call it quits with the self-destructive idiots who back this turd and everyone who treats him as if he could have cracked 920 on his SATs. This is a particularly pathetic point in human history.

things like core competency model

http://www.aim.org/special-report/terrorist-professor-bill-ayers-and-obamas-federal-school-curriculum/

this is their education plan….which fits neatly into Spengler’s analysis of China vs. the US.

http://pjmedia.com/spengler/2013/01/07/the-siege-of-baghdad-and-chinas-rise/

the US is a declining nation…and china is rising. I don’t know, the old phrase is don’t count America out.

Well…that may have been true, but clearly we have embraced mediocrity. We can laugh at Tom Foreman of CNN and his obsession with barry…but we know that he’s just a small part of the cult of personality that barry commands

http://twitchy.com/2013/01/20/white-house-beat-or-tiger-beat-cnn-journa-stalker-creeps-on-obama-i-did-not-intend-to-get-in-this-deep/

And we have embraced crooks and liars at the Fed and Treasury, and Jack Lew will just continue that tradition.

the next 4 years will tell the tale. The left/media are in a triumphalist mood, speaking candidly about crushing the opposition once and for all…. against a flat footed R party that is deeply afraid of losing their precious grip on whatever small office they can hold onto.

Bayam exemplifies convenient selective nationalism, where today American industry is the envy of the world, but tomorrow we’ll be back to having the worst education system in the free world, all our good jobs sent to China, fat cats killing your wife with cance, yadda yadda.

But of course, all the 1%ers get a pass if they voted for O. And look at all the great American companies according to Bayam.

You are such a helpful troll. I guess it’s my paranoia making me think that the breadwinner of our house, who successfully advanced his career for 30 years, has been out of a job more than working in the past 2 years. Maybe you can diagnose my family’s problem since you are so clever. Keep telling yourself that your messiah even knows the first thing about the consequences of his action for the average, hard-working middle class American.

priorities for his second term shouldn’t deal with just the fiscal crisis.

…Axelrot?…I thought it was one of those dumb man on the street interviews late night television does!

Excellent! (officially called Killer Klowns from Outer Space.)

McConnell and Boner can play the roles of the half-witted Terenzi brothers…

Spending caps that Obama signed into law in 2011 will make it difficult to boost investment in education, scientific research, transportation and other areas

It’s bad enough that Obama keeps calling it “investments” when we’re spending money we don’t have. The media really don’t need to encourage his nonsense.

Congratulations to President Obama as he starts his second term!

I’m curious, have you ever read the history of communism, especially here in the US?
You really should. Their documents are now readily available.
I’m curious, how much is your monthly government check?
Bcs those are the only people I know who feel the way you do. The ones who get government checks.
Those of us, like in the ranching industry (who do not farm), just want a free market the Feds keep most of their mitts off.
Highest cattle prices in history, & yet oddly enough, we still can’t hardly make a living.
I wonder why that is?

Debt on 01.20.01: $5,727,776,738,304.64

Debt on 01.19.09: $10,628,881,485,510.23

An increase of: $4,901,104,747,205.59

Debt 01.21.13: $ 16,432,631,489,854.70

Debt 01.20.09: $10,626,877,048,913.08

An increase of: $5,805,754,440,941.62

Bush was in office for 2,921 days and he deficit spent per day: $1,677,885,911.40.

Obama has been in office for 1,463 days (through 01.21.13) and deficit spends per day: $3,968,389,911.79

Public debt on 01.20.09: $6,307,310,739,681.66

Public debt on 01.21.13: $11,573,578,115,566.81

Obama has increased the debt held by the public by $5,266,267,375,885.15 or 83.49% – EIGHTY-THREE & 40/100 in 1,463 days.

According to Obama’s own White House figures: Eliminating the Bush tax rates on the top 2% is estimated to bring in an annual $80 billion, ceterus paribus. Ending the Bush tax rates on the top 2% will pay for approximately 7.69 days of Federal government spending. Guess who is really going to wind up paying for all of the “free stuff”? YOU. Why? Because the middle class is where the money is. The Federal government is today’s version of Willie Sutton. They rob the middle class because that’s where the money is.

Every man, woman and child’s share of the national debt is now $52,838.04. – that’s a 76.13% — SEVENTY-SIX POINT THIRTEEN PERCENT — INCREASE since Barack Obama’s Imaculation 1,463 days ago.

Total Debt = $16,432,631,489,854.70 and GDP = $15,601.5 trillion

Debt-to-GDP = 105.35%

Remember when Obama said this?

“The problem is that the way Obama has done it in the last 1,437 days is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $10,628,881,485,510.23 from the first 43 presidents.

No. 44 added $5,805,754,440,941.62 by his lonesome. So we now have over $16,432,631,489,854.70 of debt that we are going to have to pay back. $52,838.04 for every man, woman, and child.

If President Obama called President George W Bush irresponsible and unpatriotic for presiding over a $4,901,104,747,205.59 increase in the national debt over 8 years, then what does he think we should call him for spending $5,805,754,440,941.62 In 4 years?

Irresponsible and unpatriotic’ sound too mild in comparison; perhaps, “treasonous” might be a more apt description of Mr Obama’s spending.”
