I would support lawsuits by those who were defamed or otherwise injured by him. But, the companies that made money off him should have to prove they were injured by him, and I doubt that some of them could. He made them money, lots of it.

Why would it be wrong for anyone whom he defrauded/defamed to sue him, as long as the legal window for them to do so exists?

What kind of person wouldn’t support such lawsuits? He won suits against others based upon his lies, and those victories allowed him to further his career – payback is coming! :)

I think if would be wrong for former sponsors to sue him to retrieve their money when they made millions off of him. Or maybe they could win their cases, but be awarded $1.

Armstrong wasn’t busted off pi$$ tests or bloodwork – he was busted in an FBI like “sting” where the USADA interrogated and bullied his teammates into ratting him out. Where did a PRIVATE organization get power like this? Doesn’t anyone care?

Truthfully, who are you to judge? How were YOU harmed by Lance Armstrong? Are you one of those benny-boys that rides around in tight colored pants on a bike? Even if so – how the hell did he hurt you?

Is your life so void of meaning that you have to pass judgement on people who aren’t even on your periphery to make yourself feel big?

Armstrong doped … hell, they all dope. Armstrong lied … hell, they ALL lie. He’s not really that important of a person to me personally – so I don’t feel any need to worked up on this the way you do.

Might I also remind the Lance Armstrong apologists out there that a voluntary admission of the sort that he made is admissable in both criminal courts and tort action.

The Romans said it best regarding the sports arena – “For those of us about to die, we salute you” and they proceded to put on the show of their life. If only they had HGH then, what legends would we weave…

…except that we’re not talking about the justice system. We’re talking about a national-level anti-doping agency. BIG difference. They aren’t bound by laws; they’re bound by their own rules and by-laws, which apparently they broke in instituting Armstrong’s lifetime ban. The evidence against Lance Armstrong was damning, but it would not have been actionable in a court-of-law. Too bad for Armstrong he wasn’t being accused of an actual crime.

He will be in the dustbin of history. Essentially another grasping sports guy who can’t stand to lose and has no concept of personal responsibility or honor.

He betrayed his own kids for peats sake.

The fact that USADA ignored their own rules in some cases to go after Armstrong should be scary to us all. Sure, he cheated. Maybe some think he had it coming. But if they can break the rules to get him, they can do it to anyone, including those that are not guilty of anything. That bothers me more than the fact that Armstrong was doping along with all the other elite cyclists.
