Holder: If we could maybe just stay those F&F docs indefinitely, that’d be great

posted at 11:31 am on January 18, 2013 by Erika Johnsen

As President Obama searches for ways to suggest and further enforce federal laws that he supposes will have some kind of a mitigating effect on gun violence, his Most Transparent Administration, Evah is still trying to block Freedom of Information Act requests that might possibly puncture the well-orchestrated smokescreen surrounding the gun violence that they directly perpetrated. Perfect.

Breitbart has the scoop on the Obama administration wondering whether we all just can’t pretend that Operation Fast & Furious — the deadly gunrunning scheme and the subsequent investigation, coverup, invocation of executive privilege, and Attorney General Eric Holder being held in contempt of Congress — maybe just never happened at all. If we could sweep this whole thing under the rug and just go about our business, that would be really super awesome, guys:

Attorney General Eric Holder and his Department of Justice have asked a federal court to indefinitely delay a lawsuit brought by watchdog group Judicial Watch. The lawsuit seeks the enforcement of open records requests relating to Operation Fast and Furious, as required by law.

Judicial Watch had filed, on June 22, 2012, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request seeking all documents relating to Operation Fast and Furious and “specifically [a]ll records subject to the claim of executive privilege invoked by President Barack Obama on or about June 20, 2012.”

The administration has refused to comply with Judicial Watch’s FOIA request, and in mid-September the group filed a lawsuit challenging Holder’s denial. That lawsuit remains ongoing but within the past week President Barack Obama’s administration filed what’s called a “motion to stay” the suit. Such a motion is something that if granted would delay the lawsuit indefinitely.

Mm hmm. The DOJ is arguing that this lawsuit should be subject to a stay because of the separate lawsuit already filed by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, but does anybody else get the distinct impression that the administration, for whatever reason, has a very definite interest in these documents never seeing the light of day? Eric Holder’s function as a “heat shield” for President Obama must be darn near priceless for his sketchy record of, at best, egregious incompetence, to warrant him a second shot as head of the DOJ.

Update: Oh, and that managerial incompetence I just mentioned? The mind reels:

The Justice Department rarely checks references for potential law-enforcement hires as recommended by official groups that oversee personnel practices, according to a report released Thursday by the agency’s inspector general. …

Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz found that the Justice Department only requires the verification procedure for new attorney applicants. Even then, not all divisions within the agency follow protocol, the report said.

Only three out of 39 divisions have created written policies that provide clear reference-checking guidance for hiring officials, according to the analysis.

The inspector general noted that some hiring officials “are simply not bothering to check references,” concluding that inconsistencies within the department’s practices “create risk that components are not uniformly and thoroughly screening applicants.”

I’ve long since made my peace with the fact that nothing – NOTHING – will come of F&F.

I’ve also come to this conclusion: A government willing to facility the killing of innocents in an effort to ban guns will absolutely kill innocents in an effort to ban guns.

The massive spike in gun sales over the past 4 years, and the past 2 months specifically tells me the people are preparing for war.

I’d frankly be amazed if there even were anymore documents to be had. I figured they were shredded years ago when the House started investigating this.

The one good thing to come out of all of this is that whoever the next Republican President is will have a field day responding to every inquiry by the media with “but you guys didn’t seem to care when Obama did it”.

And nothing about it in the media.

When are we going to wake up and understand that the successes of the Obama adminstration in thwarting due process are not fundamentally due to their political skills, or to the Republicans’ lack of them, although they both sure help.

No, it is the fact that the media refuses to do the job they claim to be honored to do – hold politicians’ feet to the fire and uncover truth for the public (unless of course it is a Republican politician). Without public outrage this administration continues to flaunt justice, accountability and competence, and the American media actively works to ensure that there is no public outrage, through non-coverage and misleading coverage.

The main thrust of conservative strategic thinking should be how to remove the un-elected shadow information-control government that the Democrats have erected in the form of a clompliascent and complicit media. The American media should be figuratively swinging from lampposts. How do we do that legally?

Fox or Breitbart should put together a full hour reel of back-to-back clips of Democrats hacks and media talking heads (birm) bemoaning the “politicization” of the Ashcroft / Gonzales DoJ.

There would be plenty of material, and the contrast with the deafening silence from the same parties today would be hilarious in a black-humor sort of way.

This is why our representative republic is in danger and no one knows it – the founding fathers meant that the Constitution and the Bill of right to be a restraint on the government – especially the 1st and 2nd amendments.

It should be clear to all that the BSM is no longer holding our oppressive government in check – it is in fact doing the opposite – acting as it propaganda arm in promoting it’s socialist national agenda.

This is why the fight over the 2nd is so important – it’s one of the few check on the tyrants – you can expect them to go after those media outfits that don’t tow the Oppressive line soon.

Egyptian Press Confirms Washington Infiltrated By Islamists

The radical Muslim Brotherhood doesn’t just threaten Israel and Mideast peace. According to the Egyptian press, several of its operatives have infiltrated the U.S. government and are influencing policy here.

The respected Egyptian magazine Rose al-Youssef has identified at least six Brotherhood-tied agents of influence who have worked into positions inside the Obama administration.

The weekly publication, founded in 1925, said the operatives have turned the White House “from a position hostile to Islamic groups and organizations in the world to the largest and most important supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood,” an Egyptian-based jihadist movement that supports Hamas and al-Qaida.

President Obama backed the Brotherhood’s takeover of Egypt and has courted its front groups in America. Secret Service records show their representatives making hundreds of visits to the White House since 2009.
