House Republicans plan to vote Jan. 23 on a three-month extension of U.S. borrowing authority in an effort to force the Democratic-led Senate to adopt a budget plan.

“The Presidents continued refusal to negotiate the debt ceiling is a perfect example of what is causing grid-lock in Washington.

All Americans know that the government is borrowing too much money, and they should demand that the President negotiate.”

I’d like to see every R repeat this message over and over and over.

Ryan declined to detail the terms of a possible short-term extension, but said that given “the realities of divided government” challenging lawmakers, he hopes Republicans “achieve consensus on a plan to proceed so that we can make progress on controlling spending and deficits and debt.

Note the language at the end of the Ryan statement. “controlling spending…..? Very weak Washington speak for the status quo. He can’t even utter, “cut spending!” Even Hensarling seems to have joined the Boehner, Ryan and Cantor fraidy-cat, establishment team. There are events to come which may make it possible to throw all these bums out in the next election cycle.

But where oh where is our savior, Oromney in all of this? Did his gallant white horse make a wrong turn at an Etch-a-sketch sale?

He was never the “savior” – he was the 4th or 5th choice in a field of flawed candidates who was deemed the “most electable” in a flawed (or rigged, if you prefer) campaign process. He was there to stop the bleeding caused by 4 years of a radical Marxist and hopefully buy some time for true conservatives to take hold of its party – while it was in a position of power, not still having to “compromise” (read: cave at every turn).

So here we are.

At what point do our leaders stop acting like Wile E. Coyote, draw a real line in the sand, and say “nope, we’re done – it’s on you, O’Butthead”

Question: What is the point of having a debt ceiling if it can be arbitrarily raised at any time?

U.S. Federal LAW, the same law these politicians swore an oath to uphold, mandates that Congress/the Federal Govt pass an annual Budget EVERY YEAR. They have BROKEN THE LAW FOR 3+ YEARS NOW…MAKING THEM CRIMINALS!

The Constitution states that CONGRESS, not the President, is the ONLY ones who can raise the debt ceiling….

SO ENOUGH IS ENOUH! Ryan, Boehner, & the rest of the GOP need to MAN UP, find their moral & ethical integrity, own up to the oath they swore, & adhere to their LEGAL obligation to enforce the law BY PASSING A BUDGET….BEFORE ANY DEBT CEILING NEGOTIATIONS OCCUR!

Obeying the law is not a BARGAINING CHIP or an issue with which to blackmail the President in exchange for raising the debt limit! Before another D@Mn dollar of hard-earned U.S. tax dollars is wasted by this CRIMINAL CONGRESS/PRESIDENT, they need to OBEY this nation’s laws & pass a budget, thereby showing us all EXACTLY where they intend to spend our money!

It probably doesn’t matter. I think that’s a big reason we’re all so frustrated right now. I alternate between being PO’d at the GOP for their lack of stones and totally understanding their hesitancy in forcing Obama’s hand on spending via either a government shutdown or blocking a debt ceiling hike.

The real problem isn’t Obama. It isn’t the Democrat Party. And it isn’t the cowardly GOP leadership. It’s the people. They’re the ones who reelected the folks who refused to pass a budget for 4 years, rammed socialized medicine down the nation’s throat, and racked up $6 trillion in debt in a single Presidential term. Hell, over 3/4 of working Americans just got slammed with a tax hike that most of them had no clue was coming. Yet I haven’t seen a single poll yet that shows Obama or his party taking a huge PR hit with voters.

Until that slight majority of the electorate gets its collective you-know-what together and learns the concepts of basic economics and math, we’re stuck with the government they’ve saddled us with(at least at the federal level). And it’s here where I sympathize with the House and Senate Republicans. Why take a stand against Obama and Reid now when most of the public would be either to ungrateful or dumb to even comprehend what the GOP is fighting for?

When will conservatives do anything? I say all conservatives should do 2 things–make sure you have plenty of guns and ammo and then pull all of your money out of the market. Make it tank and make the takers hurt. Until the takers feel the pain nothing will change. I’ve already done it. Until more conservatives do this, expect the same ole caca.
