National Cathedral to begin performing gay weddings
posted at 8:14 pm on January 9, 2013 by Allahpundit
It’s nominally Episcopal but I’ve always thought of it as the beating heart of ceremonial deism, so no surprise that it would shift as the wider public does.
Say this for the dean, too: He makes no bones about his political intentions. Although if you’re head of the National Cathedral and reaching out to press a hot button, why bother doing that? Why pretend it’s a purely religious decision when it’s not?
“I read the Bible as seriously as fundamentalists do,” Hall told the AP. “And my reading of the Bible leads me to want to do this because I think it’s being faithful to the kind of community that Jesus would have us be.”
Celebrating same-sex weddings is important beyond the Episcopal Church, Hall said. Church debate is largely settled on the matter, allowing for local decisions, he said. The move is also a chance to influence the nation.
“As a kind of tall-steeple, public church in the nation’s capital, by saying we’re going to bless same-sex marriages, conduct same-sex marriages, we are really trying to take the next step for marriage equality in the nation and in the culture,” Hall said.
This comes on the same day that lefties are grumbling at Obama for letting the benediction at his inauguration be delivered by a pastor from Atlanta who opposes gay marriage, believes homosexuality is a sin, and thinks Christ can help lead gays out of their “lifestyle.” Looking forward to the official White House statement about how those views are allegedly too far out of the mainstream of Christian thinking to earn him a spot at the national table on the 21st.
Exit question: Second look at the blessings of atheism instead?

Just going by what I read. Don’t shoot the messenger.
In righteousness… He judges and makes war.
Jesus judges… and makes war? Not quite the nice picture of Jesus we see so much from Hollywood.
People think Jesus is forever this lowly poor old nice man forever knocking on the door of their hearts begging “Can I please come in now! Please!”
No.. Revelation shows who Jesus really is! He is coming back and, as the Bible says.
And…
Notice this says every knee and every tongue? That’s because it actually means every knee and every tongue. All he living and all the dead and every spirit that ever walked anywhere.. will bow and confess “Jesus is Lord.” It will no longer be optional to reject Jesus.
Oh.. and as for people who want to pervert a child’s heart. Lets see how God feels about that.
Boy.. that just seems so harsh of Jesus doesn’t it. He needed some of the Republican consultant disciples to pull him aside there and warn him “Gosh Jesus.. you’re going to lose the gay vote and the independents with that one. Ease up a little.”
Oh well.

We all understand the concept of earthly kings and kingdoms. In any kingdom.. a king’s word is law. You don’t walk around dissing the king and live for very long. Whether that king is good or evil. We understand the concept.
If a king makes a law.. you obey the law. You get caught disobeying the law.. you pay the penalty. It’s like this in every nation regardless of government.
But we always think God is different. Like His laws are optional because He loves us.
Jesus is King. He gives us the opportunity and choice now.. at this time and in this life to follow Him or not. We can live on this earth in this life in complete rebellion against God spitting on his name every day.. and eat and drink and love and have fun all the days of our earthly life while rejecting Him all the way. But when this life is over… then comes judgement. But there is another time coming too… when He returns in physical form. Then.. it’s no longer an option. He will return as He really is.. King of kings and Lord of lords. He will set up His Kingdom and He will judge and destroy those who have committed war against Him.
You can interpret that to mean what you want.

Nope, Jesus is not the sweet, benevolent, nice old guy that He is so often portrayed as.

That’s a red herring and you know it (or should, if you’re even remotely intelligent). The whole idea of adoptive parents is to provide an emulation of biological parenting. My wife and I almost adopted because we couldn’t have children, then surprisingly she got pregnant. We learned that for both the parents adopting and the parents giving up a child for adoption, a psychological hurdle has to be dealt with for every couple in our situation – the desire to have children by biological means only and the desire to retain biologically born children. Once that is accomplished, you treat the child as if they are your biological offspring – as perfectly emulating a biological relationship as possible. How, then, can two moms or dads emulate that natural/biological relationship? You say it’s possible, others have legitimate doubts – but to simply dismiss those doubts and use the concept of adoption as a trope argument to shut down the other side diminishes both the process that people must go through to adopt AND the importance of biological child rearing. Exactly the type of immature, sophomoric, argumentative reasoning and dialogue that Ms. Ball is demonstrating in this “cute” video.

It’s absolutely sad to see some really inane comments from those “real” conservatives…complaining how the big gay advocate groups throw out words like “bigot” and such, while they do the same thing with the “sodomite” and the cherry-picked scripture quotes.
Just so ironic…and an embarrassment to the entire conservative cause.
JetBoy on April 6, 2013 at 4:37 PM
I want to add…I have no connection to the big gay groups…IMO they do far more harm to the cause and are an embarrassment as well. But when I see mellow conservatives acting like adolescents and throwing out some pretty hateful stuff while they do the same thong. It’s ridiculous.

A five-year-old is actually a perfect stand-in for just about any ‘adult’ liberal. She has as much ability to figure out how the world works, use facts over instincts for ‘fairness’, and do math.
And maybe even more sense on the last: even a child who can’t count past twenty will know that if you give away 10 candy bars to 11 friends. Though unlike an adult liberal, if she steals her mother’s money to pay for the 11th candy bar she can get spanked!!!

This is what it really comes down to for me… Christians are going to be harassed and persecuted for their religious convictions. It is not going to be enough that homosexual marriage is the law of the land… no.. Christians will also have to embrace homosexuality. They will attempt to force Christians to deny their faith and bow and worship at the homosexual alter.
Not going to happen.

To those who ask the question,
Who would choose that orientation?,
I would ask,
Who would choose to be oriented towards pedophilia?
No one. But some are oriented that way.
If pedophiles were “born that way”, or if they became oriented that way through no fault of their own (i.e., they were molested), do we pronounce pedophilia to be legitimate & moral, as some say about homosexuality?

O/T: Hey Hot Air, where is the link to MSNBC’s statement that children don’t belong to their parents? Why aren’t you allowing us to comment on that BULLSHIT statement? Far and away above everything else on this site is the issue of the importance of the family unit, and MSNBC has just thrown a grenade into our households claiming that we don’t own our children. You should be posting this FRONT AND CENTER so that we can comment on it. Every single representative in the land, not just dems but pubs, too, should be asked at every opportunity whether they believe that children belong to their families or to the state and what should happen to elected representatives who believe that our kids belong to the state. Get it out there, Hot Air. Be part of the solution or part of the problem. Here’s your chance.

Some more direct quotes of Jesus
Matthew 10
Matthew 13\
What is being done to children is of Sodom and Gomorrah. Those of the new Sodom do not see this as evil. Neither did the original generation of Sodom and Gomorrah. However, it is indisputable the Bible stands against leading children to this.
So the frantic attempt to make the new Sodom the new normal.

OK, so how many people are looking forward to the day when they can tell their 5 year old child or grandchild that when they grow up, they can marry anybody they want to, even if the other person is the same sex?
Better get prepared for this conversation, because the kids are going to be hearing about their new “civil right” in kindergarten all too soon.

virgo on April 9, 2013 at 12:50 AM
The average homosexual couple has 7 extra-’marital’ sexual relationships per year. Yet they claim they are monogamous. This is because homosexuals (who say they don’t want to redefine marriage) actually regard monogamy as ‘being with’ a person, not necessarily being faithful to that person. So this is one of the redefinitions that will take place after legalisation of SSM. A recent study indicated 100% of all homosexuals were unfaithful after five years of cohabitation.
