Graham looking for delay on Brennan confirmation until we get some answers on Benghazi

posted at 12:41 pm on January 8, 2013 by Erika Johnsen

Both of President Obama’s picks for his new national security team are in for some rocky confirmation battles that will certainly take up plenty of the media’s attention, and at least one senator is determined to use the occasion to vocally pressure the White House for some answers. No doubt that President Obama and his advisers would really just rather that we all forget about this whole ‘terrorist attack on a U.S. consulate in Libya on the anniversary of 9/11′ business and move on to a new year and a second term, but Sen. Lindsey Graham has not forgotten that we are still lacking even semi-complete answers on not only the security failings that lead to the deaths of four Americans, but also the manner in which the administration willfully mislead the public on the nature of the attack for some time after — and that they have been “stonewalling” about the entire affair ever since.

On Monday, Sen. Graham objected, not necessarily to John Brennan, but rather to going forward with a new CIA confirmation in general. The fact that something went badly wrong somewhere between the State Department and the intelligence community on multiple counts still needs to be resolved, and he isn’t ready to move on until we get this thing sorted out:

Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina didn’t single out Obama’s nominee, John Brennan, for criticism, but he accused the administration of ignoring requests for more information about the Sept. 11 attack, which also targeted a CIA annex in Benghazi.

“I have not forgotten about the Benghazi debacle and still have many questions about what transpired before, during and after the attack on our consulate,” Graham said. “In that regard, I do not believe we should confirm anyone as director of the CIA until our questions are answered.”

Graham is specifically concerned about U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice’s talking points in the days after the attack, when she said that the attack seemed to be “spontaneous” violence growing out of protests over an anti-Islam film. She later admitted that some of that information was incorrect, though she said her comments were based on the information available at the time from the intelligence community.

On that note, the State Department has yet again officially insisted that Secretary Hillary Clinton is indeed going to testify herself about the security failings in Benghazi, although we still do not have a specific date:

The State Department said Monday that Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will testify before Congress about security failures in the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

“She will testify while she is still sitting secretary of state,” State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said of Mrs. Clinton, who is slated to step down in the coming weeks, pending Senate confirmation of Sen. John F. Kerry, Massachusetts Democrat, as her replacement. …

“We have a new Senate Foreign Relations Committee,” she said. “So we’re working now with the committee on scheduling of both the Benghazi hearing [and] the confirmation hearing, getting the sequence agreed with them.”

I’ll believe she will testify when I see her sitting in the chair at the hearing. Until then, it’s just hot air.

Cruel GOP woman-haters! Just thinking of Benghazi popped a vein in Mrs. Clinton’s head, how dare they!

Apparently the flu this year is quite nasty. I suspect it will hit Hillary! hard.

Lindsey Graham? lulz

Where are we at regarding Fast&Furious? MF Global? wars started w/out Congressional approval? Solyndra?, etc…

Nothing will be done Senator Graham. The jig is up, douchebag.

And you can bet Miss Lindsey will stand firm on this until Axelrod shows him some photos of him with a Senate page.

Graham is right on the money! Anyone who had anything to do with or knew anything about what happened in Benghazi should not be given such a ‘promotion’ until this Administration / they stop the cover-up & come clean.

In light of this administration refusing to do anything but cover up what happened, we are left with having to ‘speculate’…somewhat. Here’s what we already KNOW:

1) We KNOW Hillary said the reason no additional Security was given to Ambassador Stevens & his team – even after 2 previous terrorist attacks & the warnings that they would not survive a 3rd, that 10 terrorist training camps had been started up, & that Al Qaeda flags had begun to be flown over new Libyan govt flags – was because OBAMA’S LIBYAN POLICY was to maintain a LOW PROFILE.
– What we can only GUESS about is WHY Obama STILL REFUSED to give additional Security AFTER 2 PREVIOUS TERRORIST ATTACKS & A WARNING THAT THEY WULD NOT SURVIVE A 3RD?!

2) We KNOW that SOMEONE extremely high up in the administration not only ordered the Spec Ops Teams 2 Hrs away – who were prepping for a response mission to help those in Benghazi – to ‘STAND DOWN’…AND that that same someone RELIEVED OF COMMAND Gen Ham, AFRICOM Commander, who voiced his intent to ignore that order & send a Response Team anyway.
– What we do NOT KNOW is 1) WHO gave those Orders to betray those under attack in Benghazi & by relieving the Commanding Officer who was in the best place to make that call & 2) WHY was this decision made /order given!

3) We KNOW the CIA sent a telegram/message to the State Department AND the White House ‘War Room’ within the 1st HOUR of the Benghazi attack happening, & we KNOW someone within the White House & someone within the State Department had to coordinate with each other on the contents of those reports & then strip all references to ‘terrorism / terroist attack’ from the reports….and then they had to ‘sell’ the newly doctored reports to Hillary & Obama as the ‘truth’, who in turn gave them to Amb Rice before sending her off to 5 talk shows to push the doctored report’s story…
– What we DON’T KNOW is who (had to be 2 seperate people) doctored the reports, who lied to Hillary/Obama, & in the end caused such dis-information & poor decisions made by the President / administration as a result…AND WHY AREN’T THOSE PEOPLE IN JAIL?!

More often than not, I insult Senator Graham whenever I think of him at all.

But sometimes he is one of the very few in the Senate who has the guts to buck 0bama.

(oops… someone may find those last two words in combination to be racist. No racisism intended, and indeed, that was supposed to be a ‘b’, not an ‘f’ either.)

Sen. Graham hasen’t the moral fiber or fortitude to get the truth about the Bengahazi clusterphuck.
Sad, because the souls of Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty, and Tyrone Woods demand (as many of us do) the FACTS and reasons for decisions that lead to their DEATHS.
Who, What, Where, When, and WHY?

I want to know about King Putt’s ‘bump in the road’.
But I’ll not hold my breath. … As the notable journalist of history (e.g. Royko, Menken, etc. spin in their graves.

Give up the Hagel fight and focus on Brennan by spotlighting Benghazi and F&F. That would be the smarter thing to do.

when Obama makes his gun control push, even more focus can be put on Obama’s claim of executive privilege to protect his Attorney General and the ATF.

They conduct espionage on us. All to guarantee their power. No one has the balls or the fortitude to hold these criminals accountable.
