Way to tell us all “I’ve never once experienced even one single feeling that comes from a public win of anything bearing even minor local significance, much less (inter)national and televised”.

I'm guessing there are years and years of rich and deeply personal feelings accompanying repeated public losses, though.

We can just add this one to the stack, eh, professor?

I’m much less concerned with the casual comments people make on the internet, provided they don’t involve any material damage to a person’s life or reputation, than I am with parts of social structure which oppression vulnerable populations in a variety of material ways.

You’re suggesting discriminatory comments on the internet don’t hurt anything? The casual acceptance of damaging words in our language doesn’t saturate society and make a particular race/sexual orientation slightly less human?

Well, I'm totally surprised, but I actually agree more with libfreeordie on this than the rest of you. Of course men (and all of us) notice a beautiful woman. Of course the networks are going to point out persons of interest during a ball game, especially if they're attractive. But Brent's drooling was in appropriate and annoying. Furthermore, there are many female football fans (no way is the audience 90% male), but even if it 90% male, would that justify obnoxious behavior? Uh, no. We were watching to enjoy a sports competition. Furthermore, it's a double standard. There are some very attractive male athletes, but we don't have Pam Oliver drooling over them to the audience, now do we? And if a woman is a beauty pageant contestant, she does not give up her right to be treated with civility and dignity. Are you kidding me? What about models or actresses? Or attractive women in any profession? It's OK to to drool publicly over them because they put themselves out there? I don't think so. Try this thought process. If Brent's comments would have irritated you had the subject been your daughter, then they were inappropriate.

Before I forget, good job on not letting some slow-on-the-uptake idiot non-college professor conservative trick you into repeatedly posting substantial bits of your own personal information against your will.

Keep up the good work, professor.

As my grandmother would say “you a lie.” But, very clever, you’re trying to inspire me to “prove” my identity so people can start posting my personal information again without recourse. Not gonna work.

No, I could care less about you "personal" information, just making a factual statement. I don't care much about anyone's "personal information", since, as shown by you, it's probably not factual.

I just like to set the record straight, if someone claims something, they need to prove it...you, the opposite happened, it was shown you are not a professor, perhaps you confuse the word with profess...

It has been shown several times you are not a "professor", I believe it's a student of about 24 years old, or a drop out of 24 I can't remember which.

But good try...

You’re fine with the blatant negative stereotyping you set regarding a private and consensual sexual relationship, right?

I'm much less concerned with the casual comments people make on the internet, provided they don't involve any material damage to a person's life or reputation, than I am with parts of social structure which oppression vulnerable populations in a variety of material ways. You're not a "beard", obviously. With that in mind, I suspect you'd be full of all-caps, anger, and righteous indignation if a heterosexual were to post about some unknown good-looking guy and how they didn't really want "to throw shade", but, well

Aw, rogerb, your post really does prove that the opposite of love isn’t hate, its indifference. I should have picked up on the cues of your copy/paste stalk act as signs of your profound interest in/obsession with me,

Wow. You truly have never understood why it gets posted, have you?

It has nothing to do with you. It's only done to point out general progressive hypocrisy. You, sesqui, urban elitist, and whoever else comes up first in the searches is what gets posted. You're all interchangeable.

You really thought it was something special you achieved? Some unusual insight specific to you and you alone?

Aww. That's sweet. Sad and pathetic and amusing in a nope-never-won-anything-publicly sort of way, but still kind of sweet.

But more to the point, I challenge the notion that you are someone who engages me. You don’t actually... Engagement would be responding to the substance of my claims in ways that illustrates you understand the argument and can defeat it with your own. You don’t do that and therefore you are not one of the few who “engage me.”

libfreeordie on January 9, 2013 at 1:25 PM

Why do you let so many threads die after you present your data and/or open ended argument?

All of them your decision to flee.

All of them your decision to not engage me.
Nicely done, btw.

Aw come on folks.

Aw, rogerb, your post really does prove that the opposite of love isn’t hate, its indifference. I should have picked up on the cues of your copy/paste stalk act as signs of your profound interest in/obsession with me, but I didn’t know you truly cared. But really, the pearl clutching is sort of a lot to handle this early into 2013. Nor is it warranted. While you did post “too far” when someone encouraged me to die, your act of altruism merely extends to the realm of a digital debate forum, and thus the stakes are quite low.

But more to the point, I challenge the notion that you are someone who engages me. You don’t actually. You needle me with copy and paste gags, sometimes more effectively than not, but that isn’t “engagement.” That’s following me around, that’s reading all of my posts, but that’s not “engagement.” Engagement would be responding to the substance of my claims in ways that illustrates you understand the argument and can defeat it with your own. You don’t do that and therefore you are not one of the few who “engage me.”
