Mitch McConnel is a pathetic POS, a disgrace to the GOP & conservatives everywhere. during the last Debt Ceiling Increase 'battle', when Boehner tried to rally all the GOP together, as he attempted to negotiate with Obama behind closed doors - shame, shame, McConnel refused to help unite the Republican Party but instead crafted his OWN plan and attempted to sell it to the GOP - in competition with Boehner. This effectively divided the GOP, preventing a unified front, & Obama successfully defeated the disorganized GOP, getting everything he wanted!

He may be an honorable, well-intended man, but like many MILLIONARE Republican leaders/politicians, he has been separated from the real people for too long, see constituents as 'monopoly pieces' he 'plays with' rather than as living, breathing, struggling people with whsoe LIVES he is playing...when he 'loses' - he is $crewing all of US, and he feels no pain!

Worth repeating if this Cruz remark has already been cited:

Let me be clear, I do not support default on the debt and we should never default on the debt and the only players who are threatening to default are President Obama and Harry Reid. This is an issue, and earlier in the show you played the President threatening default. In any given month tax revenue are 200 billion and interest is 30 or 40 billion. There is it plenty of revenue to service the debt and any responsible President would've stood at that podium and said 'whatever happens with the debt ceiling, we will always pay our debt. We'll never default on the debt' and the reason the President isn't doing that is he's trying to scare people and raise the spector of financial apocalypse." - Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Fox News Sunday 1/6/12

As I have said before, remember that all these basta*rds are the ones who worked diligently over the last couple of decades to put us in the situation that we are in. Most of them are typical, elitist, self-serving, career politicians, more concerned for their own welfare than that of their constituents. Anybody who doesn't believe that is an empty-headed fool. The deal with oba-mao should have been, "make all the Bush tax cuts permanent". End of story, no negotiations, nothing. Oba-mao, Reid, etc. would have been totally unable to counter that. Idiots!

@Illinidiva I agree with you. Immigration reform is inevitable. But Rubio or Ryan? Senator and Congressman. Just not my cup of tea. Prefer a Governor.

Both Rubio and Ryan will be running for President. The fact that both have become so interested in immigration reform is the least subtle signal ever. I was just reporting on that fact.

I do think that Ryan and Rubio are probably the best two Republican candidates in 2016 although I have some serious misgivings about Rubio. There is the Gen X factor and I'm not sure why the Republicans would want to give that up especially since Uncle Joe and Hillary are going to be old in 2016. That image of the Republican candidate being hipper and more in tune with pop culture, etc. is not something that happens very often. And all the Republican governors have been pretty unremarkable unless you're talking Walker (who isn't going to run because his BFF Ryan is) or Jindal (who has a huge charisma deficit and has said some pretty smarmy things since the election). And I certainly hope that you aren't a fan of Krispy Kreme. May that bully flameout spectacularly.

Amnesty isn’t happening unless the GOP loses the House, or Boehner violates the Hastert Rule to bring it to the floor, neither of which is likely.

There is probably a majority in the House Republican caucus that will support some type of legislation. The entire House Leadership will be behind it unlike the fiscal cliff split and Ryan actually cosponsoring the legislation helps.

Ted Cruz and Hume were also good on that point on Fox. They made it clear that there were plenty of dollars coming in revenue each month to pay debt service with violating the debt ceiling if other spending was restrained and defaulting would be a choice by the president if it happened. That is how to defuse the administration’s game of chicken over the debt ceiling.

I agree but when I advance that same idea on other sites I get blasted for daring to give the rats something else to use against us. We may be approaching a point where we learn to ignore the DBM and just do the right thing.

However, not one single guest bothered to ask if maybe Simpson/Bowles could be adopted. Not one.

Ted Cruz and Hume were also good on that point on Fox. They made it clear that there were plenty of dollars coming in revenue each month to pay debt service with violating the debt ceiling if other spending was restrained and defaulting would be a choice by the president if it happened. That is how to defuse the administration's game of chicken over the debt ceiling.

40hrs X $180,000/hr = $7,200,000.00

I hope McConnell backs up Boehner’s position that any debt ceiling increase has to be matched dollar for dollar with spending cuts. No more divide the Republicans and conquer.

...............................................................

McConnell was brilliant against DNC Dave. Gregory kept at him trying to get him to say he would allow the country to stop paying it's bills by refusing to authorize an increase in the debt ceiling. McConnell never even acknowledged DNC Dave. Instead he turned the issue around on whether or not zero would cut spending! That infuriated the far left commentator who gets all his questions from the DNC.
Newt was good as well pointing out how we won elections because we were not afraid to close down the govt. DNC Dave didn't like that one either.
