I wonder why the national press is not telling the public what the Democrats get, if they DON’T pass a budget? You’d think they would really be giving Reid and company a hard time, yet no one has done this. Why?

I’ll give you a hint, spending has increased and the debt has gone up, all while there have been no budgets. Now, if we really want to do something about how this government runs, perhaps we need to look at how that happened and put a stop to that, then the rest will be a lot easier.

The frustrating thing is that there is an obvious solution for Obama.

If the debt limit is not raised then Obama as the executive must determine how to spend the incoming revenue. First pay the interest on the debt. Now we have not defaulted. Then start paying the most important thing in the budget until we run out of money. You know, the thing that every single person in America does when dealing with their own budgets.

And Obama gets to decide what to cut. So bye bye Defense spending. And since Obama is a beanball thrower you know he’d be sure to cut any and all spending to Republican areas. Sorry Texas, you don’t get any Medicare money this year.

Guess you agree that Establishment thinking always loses. Not a single mention of when Establishment thinking ever won an election. Of course that is unfair because you would have to go way back to Nixon and he hardly won the House.

House and Senate the two branches of the Legislative. The President the other elected branch of Government. The judiciary is not elected. The House and Senate are very much two branches. No party can win the Judiciary Branch.

Yes, I know that the US is a Republican. What I mean is that it is a democratic form as far as elected officials versus a ruler, ie, monarch or dicKtator.

Technically correct. But it is common to use this. Only three rule the other the Judicial is lifetime appointments.

For the rest of us we will go with the traditional political meaning of three branches House, Senate and President.

BTW, its tradition here at HA to rake those who continue to argue a point that has been proven to be wrong over the coals.

The new strategy seems to be one of demanding what you want and daring the GOP to not go along with it, trusting that the story will be spun well enough in the press that the media will dutifully predict that Republicans will be blamed if a worst case scenario comes to pass.

As we watch football this weekend, imagine how impossible it would be for one of the teams to win if breathing constitued a “false start” or “off sides” while the other team could move all they wanted prior to the snap.

I think that’s a pretty good analogy for where we are today.
