Joe Manchin: Say… about that gun grabbing thing…

posted at 8:31 am on January 5, 2013 by Jazz Shaw

I actually owe Jim Geraghty and his indispensable Morning Jolt newsletter a big hat tip for this story, though we wrote about the roots of it multiple times here. In any event, astute readers will recall the response of long time Democratic Second Amendment supporter Joe Manchin in the wake of the Newtown tragedy.

“I just came with my family from deer hunting,” Manchin said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “I’ve never had more than three shells in a clip. Sometimes you don’t get more than one shot anyway at a deer. It’s common sense. It’s time to move beyond rhetoric. We need to sit down and have a common-sense discussion and move in a reasonable way.”

Well, a bit of time has gone by, allowing cooler heads a chance to prevail and some of Senator Manchin’s constituents a chance to weigh in. Some of the swamp fever may be breaking down in West Virginia, as this more recent interview suggests.

“I’m not afraid to have these conversations and I know I’m going to get criticized,” Senator Manchin said on Wednesday’s MetroNews Talkline. He was a guest on the show for the second time this week to talk about his position on firearm regulatory changes and what should be done after the Newtown.

“I am open to talking about how do we have a better society with less violence and not blame just the gun owner, because if you blame the gun owner, you’re blaming me,” the Senator said.

Host Hoppy Kercheval asked Senator Manchin if he will support California Senator Dianne Feinstein’s proposed bill to reinstate the ban on assault weapons. That ban first took effect in 1994 and expired in 2004.

“I’m not supporting a ban on anything. I’m supporting a conversation on everything,” Senator Manchin said.

Nobody is supporting a ban on conversation, Senator. We were just a tad bit alarmed at the direction yours seemed to be taking. But it’s good to see you’ve had some time to reconsider. One of the things you might be taking into account is the fact that even an incident as horrible as the Newtown maniac’s rampage hasn’t shifted the national mood very much. We already know that American’s don’t want the government snacking on their hand guns, but let’s take a look at the most hot button buzz word in the gun grabbing dictionary. Pollsters – including some sponsors who seem to really want to push this, like USA Today – keep asking the following question about those really nasty “assault rifles.”

Are you for or against a law which would make it illegal to manufacture, sell or possess semiautomatic guns known as assault rifles?

The skewing of the question doesn’t get much better than this for the gun grabbing lobby. And yet, one year before Newtown, Americans opposed the proposition by a 53 to 43 margin. A few weeks ago – three days before Christmas, in fact – the same question was put to the nation with exactly the same wording. How much did it change?

Still opposed… 51 to 44. It’s a net shift which is less than the margin of error. And as the public gets to hear more and more about the true intentions of people like Governor Andrew “Confiscation might be an option” Cuomo, the panic driven rush toward the doors on the Second Amendment seems to continue to slow down. Senators like Manchin obviously follow the news, though I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and allow that he’s simply overcoming the shock and returning to his senses.

This is not to say that we should become lax on this and lower our guard. The Democrats will still be introducing new legislation to restrict your most fundamental rights as soon as the new Congress has figured out where the bathrooms are. But I’m beginning to allow myself a sliver of hope that folks are slowly coming back to their senses and won’t allow this to be a stampede. We’ll need to stay on top of our House members though, and remind them that they are up for election every two years.

And we’re still watching.

Congress may slowdown or even drop it but BO is going to go for it via EO and congress will just rollover like they have for all the unconstitutional things BO has done. One does not defy a dictator and still get invited to the parties. And it’s all about the parties and perks.

Dr. Frank Enstine on January 5, 2013 at 8:37 AM

It’s not about hunting. It’s about a free and independent people being able to defend themselves from a government that has grown oppressive.

This asshat really represents WV well. First he supports obama and his legion of regulators including the EPA which has all but shut down the coal industry.

Now he want’s to limit guns to types he thinks are accaptable. Probably airsoft and paintball guns and for some really regulated and registered types they may even get 22′s. Of course those would be limited to large obama donors only.

Here’s the problem for us, as Americans, it’s up to the stupid party to make the reasonable argument and I doubt they’re capable of it. The Democrats are going to have all the forces of evil coming after guns. The anti-gun groups will come up with a unified message, the Democrats in Congress will repeat it, the Democrats in the state legislatures will repeat it and Pravda and Izvestia will repeat it. The Republican message (remember the one they don’t have) will be drowned out by all of this. It may not change public opinion, but it will whittle down the weak links, the ones who are just tired of hearing the argument and say, “Do Something” and then they win.

Belonging to the stupid party is really getting annoying. I know what’s going to happen, how it’s going to happen, and who the culprits are going to be, yet I’ve heard nothing from the Republicans except they’re going to oppose raising the debt limit. The Stupid Party in action.

I’m all for the banning of assault rifles that are illegally in the hands of street gangs and drug cartels. Those are selective fire, the users have no Federal permits to own them, and the owners are likely convicted felons who have no right to be owning firearms in the first place. So let’s ban them from possession by such people.

What’s that you say, Senator–they are already banned? Oh, well, then, go confiscate them! I dare you…

Liam on January 5, 2013 at 8:48 AM

Just more proof that Democrats can never be trusted on these issues, no matter how conservative they’ve been in the past. They will toe the party line every time. If this guy compromises in the slightest way, his constituents need to get rid of him.

juliesa on January 5, 2013 at 8:49 AM

From Part of Larry Correia post on the subject

Many of you may truly believe that. You may think that the 2nd Amendment is archaic, outdated, and totally pointless. However, approximately half of the country disagrees with you, and of them, a pretty large portion is fully willing to shoot somebody in defense of it.

We’ve already seen that your partial bans are stupid and don’t do anything, so unless you are merely a hypocrite more interested in style rather than results, the only way to achieve your goal is to come and take the guns away. So let’s talk about confiscation.

They say that there are 80 million gun owners in America. I personally think that number is low for a few reasons. The majority of gun owners I know, when contacted for a phone survey and asked if they own guns, will become suspicious and simply lie. Those of us who don’t want to end like England or Australia will say that we lost all of our guns in a freak canoe accident.

Guns do not really wear out. I have perfectly functioning guns from WWI, and I’ve got friends who have still useable firearms from the 1800s. Plus we’ve been building more of them this entire time. There are more guns than there are people in America, and some of us have enough to arm our entire neighborhood.

But for the sake of math, let’s say that there are only 80 million gun owners, and let’s say that the government decides to round up all those pesky guns once and for all. Let’s be generous and say that 90% of the gun owners don’t really believe in the 2nd Amendment, and their guns are just for duck hunting. Which is what politicians keep telling us, but is actually rather hilarious when you think about how the most commonly sold guns in America are the same detachable magazine semiautomatic rifles I talked about earlier.

So ten percent refuse to turn their guns in. That is 8 million instantaneous felons. Let’s say that 90% of them are not wanting to comply out of sheer stubbornness. Let’s be super generous and say that 90% of them would still just roll over and turn their guns when pressed or legally threatened. That leaves 800,000 Americans who are not turning their guns in, no matter what. To put that in perspective there are only about 700,000 police officers in the whole country.

Let’s say that these hypothetical 10% of 10% are willing to actually fight to keep their guns. Even if my hypothetical estimate of 800,000 gun nuts willing to fight for their guns is correct, it is still 97% higher than the number of insurgents we faced at any one time in Iraq, a country about the size of Texas.

However, I do honestly believe that it would be much bigger than 10%. Once the confiscations turned violent, then it would push many otherwise peaceful people over the edge. I saw somebody on Twitter post about how the 2nd Amendment is stupid because my stupid assault rifles are useless against drones… That person has obviously never worked with the people who build the drones, fly the drones, and service the drones. I have. Where to you think the majority of the US military falls on the political spectrum exactly? There’s a reason Mitt Romney won the military vote by over 40 points, and it wasn’t because of his hair.

And as for those 700,000 cops, how many of them would side with the gun owners? All the gun nuts, that’s for sure. As much as some people like to complain about the gun culture, many of the people you hire to protect you, and darn near all of them who can shoot well, belong to that gun culture. And as I hear people complain about the gun industry, like it is some nebulous, faceless, all powerful corporate thing which hungers for war and anarchy, I just have to laugh, because the gun industry probably has the highest percentage of former cops and former military of any industry in the country. My being a civilian was odd in the circles I worked in. The men and women you pay to protect you have honor and integrity, and they will fight for what they believe in.

So the real question the anti-gun, ban and confiscate, crowd should be asking themselves is this, how many of your fellow Americans are you willing to have killed in order to bring about your utopian vision of the future?

warren on January 5, 2013 at 8:53 AM

Wake up folks. The list of “assault rifles” will be abused as the “weapon it is by the left, merely adding more and ever more guns to it’s banned list just as they use the “Enndangered Species act to control capitalism.
The Declaration of Independence says, we get our rights from Nature’s God -thus are out of the control of any government, court, royalty or despot, unless we capitulate. But that is precsely what so many so-called (gun owning) conservatives happily did for abortion. And they thought it wouldn’t come back to haunt them…those magical and mysterious emenations from penumbras found by a handful or appointed robed lawyers. And now Roberts says the largest assault on individual liberty and religious conscience, (religious freedom is why the Puritans came here) is a mere tax to be controlled by the likes of Kathleen Sebelius–one radical ideologue’s decision?
What a stupid way to terminate Western civilization–entrusting it to the selfishness of democracy.

It is evident that the liberals are unified. It’s how they get their power. The republicans on the other hand start out fighting each other and then cave to the dems as compromise. The repubs have little use for solidarity and no interest in fighting except for what little whining they do before they cave.

Dr. Frank Enstine on January 5, 2013 at 8:57 AM

You have to love the defense that some of the anti-gun crowd will provide for the masses. Limit the size of the clips so that the police can arrive to clean up a couple less bodies.. Sounds like a winner.

Even Hannity, who had a gun grabbing guest on, missed the main point that our founding fathers put in the 2nd Amend. to offset the powers always found in a naturally growing govt.

We have assault rifles because the govt has them or worse—–its what our founding fathers wanted.

Now, that being said, I’m sure the Left would attempt to turn that into a “ove*throw the gubberment” extreme right wing distortion………

sbark on January 5, 2013 at 9:00 AM

The media feeding frenzy had quieted a lot, I think partly because of David Gregory’s little on-air stunt. The questions are still out there: Where did he get the mag, where is it now, and why hasn’t he been arrested let alone questioned by DC police?

I also don’t hear any screaming from the Left about a CA rapist who is getting a new trial based on an 1874 law that says the circumstances of the assault apply only to married women. The CA legislature should have convened the instant the appellate ruling was decided to change that law, but liberals are strangely silent about it. For a bunch of geniuses, as they claim to be, CA Democrats missed big on this one. For decades!

Liberals aren’t going to win as big on gun bans as they like to think, assuming the Pubs in Congress don’t cave again.

Liam on January 5, 2013 at 9:05 AM

warren on January 5, 2013 at 8:53 AM

Wasn’t that number around 25 million? On the upside the libs will think it’s only the racist, bible clingers anyway so what’s the problem? Makes the country not only safer but more progressive. I really don’t see a downside for the liberals if tens of millions of gun owners end up dead. It’s just an added bonus that makes for a better utopia.

The problem as I see it is that conservatives think that liberals shy away from violence and killing. They don’t as shown by the remains of 50 million or so would be citizens. Just think of killing gun owners as a form of post term abortion. We know BO likes it so his adoring cultist can’t be far behind.

Dr. Frank Enstine on January 5, 2013 at 9:08 AM

“Assault rifle” will come to mean single barreled shotgun. SS revolver.

They are not going to just pass the old ban. They are going to go for the throat of the 2nd. amendment. And if this passes, especially with the votes of Boehner, I am leaving the Republicans party and going libertarian or conservative.

It’s just perpetual crisis in DC. They’re the ones in charge and yet it’s perpetual crisis. Our finances are in crisis, our military is, our foreign policy is, our domestic policy is.. all perpetual crisis. Yet they’ve been in charge of it and they blame all of us!

Every single one of those people, except maybe 10 of them, should be removed from office and perp walked into a jail cell. Boehner might not be in the bank holding the gun, but he’s driving the getaway car.

The Speaker of the House is the most powerful man in all of this and he’s known best for weeping.

God, give us leaders like the Democrats have! We’d have the flat tax, school choice and a 600 ship Navy and probably a moon base by now too! If we only had leaders instead of appeasers!

Why do all the fighters end up on the evil side? I guess these things are seasonal. Like shifting winds.

These twit politicians will never learn that Second Amendment was not about hunting. There was a reason the Second Amendment was “second”. It is “second ” in order the guarantee the First Amendment.

For those that say that we don’t need the Second Amendment, that it is outdated, that tyranny can’t happen in America in this day and age. I say, that the Jews in the most educated and cultured country in 1934 Europe probably thought the very same thing. I say tyranny is here now and a growing focal point of the Obama regime.

I get what you’re saying. But the problem for the Left is that there are A LOT of gun loving Dem voters. If the Dems went overboard on gun-grabbing they would enrage a sizable part of their solid, otherwise dependable votes. Gun ownership is now more popular than ever. Here in The People’s Republic of Illinois we are shattering records for new background checks.

IMO, this is the -only- reason why the Left has not gone whole-hog over gun-grabbing in the recent past. It’s all about votes.

That being said, Obama is a lame-duck now. He’s been known to throw vulnerable Dems under the bus (ObamaCare). So we shall see.

Mandatory registration, fingerprinting, owner’s photos, proving to the BATF that the guns are locked away according to regulation, complete records of sale, needing to get permission to move a gun over state lines.

And my personal favorite…”assault rifles” can never be transferred from the original owner. Upon the death of said owner, whenever that is, the gun becomes the property of the federal government.

The shootings are now spreading from the minority neighborhoods into the gated Caucasian neighborhoods folks. Its too bad we had to wait for this event to generate a conversation about the unnecessary killings of our children. Its even worse to see the ” I dont give a damn about some kids getting shot as long as it aint my kid” pro gun movement looking to return back to status quo.

HotAirLib on January 5, 2013 at 9:28 AM

So I am just curious hypocrite you clowns think nothing of scooping the brains out of a viable child when it is already partly out of the womb, you people actually enjoy it. But if that child happens to survive and gets gunned down to fit into your political agenda then you get your pathetic panties in a bunch? How exactly does that work? Some kids are just more equal than others? Or is there an age limit in libtard land that says killing them, oh before they turn one, is ok but anything after that is not? You people are so full of sh!t crying those crocodile tears over Newtown.

This isn’t about safety at all, you cockroaches want nothing less than control over the rest of us that, thankfully, do not think like you and are not as pathetic human beings as you hypocrites are.

You and the rest of your like minded gestapo can go out and attempt to do what you say what you want to do, confiscation, but don’t cry when it turns into a fatal disaster for those that try it.

See some people in this country still remember that you should never get on your knees for your fascistic kind because it is too hard to stand back up again.

NO, Skippy. Conservative’s love our children. We would give our very lives for them. We still seek to “raise them in they way in which they should go”. However, just because we are Christisns, does not mean we will not protect our family. To quote the old Quaker Farmer, who confronted a thug breaking into his house by pointing his double-barreled shotgun at him,
Friend, I mean thee no harm…but, thou art standing where I am about to shoot.

kingsjester on January 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM

On top of that, we’ll protect other people’s children, too. But libs like HAL seem to love horrors like Sandy Hook. The day it happened, many trolls were in here looking to argue as they danced with glee; “We’re gonna get your guns now!” they said. They refused to spare us even a day to grieve and try to make sense. The first troll was here within an hour. In thirty minutes, some lib pundit had tweeted a sarcastic comment about arming Kindergarteners.

And today, from the fingertips of HAL himself, he sounded almost thrilled that white people in gated communities are (finally) being shot en masse.

Such is the mindset of liberals, as opposed to how we are.

The problem with Manchin is that he never would have said what he did if truly believed and understood the second ammendment and who is causing the problem. Since he doesn’t you can’t trust him. He is a seasoned politician and has had plenty of time to realize law abiding gun owners have nothing to do with these shootings. Crazies and criminals do. He should have been talking about what to do about them not restricting every law abiding gun owner.

I am afraid this will come down to blood. A good book to prepare yourself is “Unintended Consequences” by John Ross. His contention is to strike at middle management of the Government, forcing it to back off.

As a student of life I have tried to find a way around broad based violence, as the 20th Century was full to the brim with blood of innocents, mostly caused by Socialists. In every philosophy there is the hope of reasonable people coming together, but throughout history it always comes down to this. From the Greeks to the modern times people have searched for a way to destroy Government without bloodshed. Even Artists have tried, for example Patrick McGoohan, in his series “The Prisoner” searched for an alternative ending that did not resort to violent overthrow.

The great writers of the repressive Soviet Union longed to find the means to resist AFTER that option had been taken away.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

― Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn

The stinging irony that after reading that piece in Pravda about Americans and the 2nd Amendment, you can imagine Russians smuggling weapons into the USA to brave partisans trying to bring freedom back to the USA!

OUCH!

petefrt on January 5, 2013 at 9:18 AM

That would require effort, creativity and most of all courage and vision on the part of the GOP leadership. So it nor any other clever idea like that will ever happen.

In fact… the GOP has shown they will do nothing at all that might light even the tiniest of fires under the arses of a sleeping America. They refuse to shine even the smallest light into the dark pit of the Democrat party.

Democrat lies are to be ignored, not to be exposed. Democrat hypocrisy is to be ignored. Not to be confronted. Confronting corruption and hypocrisy and lies causes sparks to fly and people end up bickering. America doesn’t like bickering. America, the GOP thinks, wants to keep sleeping as the ship sinks.

Lets not rouse the sound sleep of the homeowners even if their house is on fire. If they wake up suddenly they will be mad. They might get mad their house is on fire and when they find out who set the fire.. well. the blame goes everywhere. So.. let them sleep.

JellyToast on January 5, 2013 at 10:42 AM

But I’m beginning to allow myself a sliver of hope that folks are slowly coming back to their senses and won’t allow this to be a stampede.

The only way we Americans who still believe we are ruled by laws and not men will be able to defeat the Democrat gun control steamroller is to convince a lot more of the low information voters of the need to protect ALL our rights. We certainly can’t depend on the Republicans in the House, as they have abundantly demonstrated their fecklessness this past week.

Remember late winter 2010 when 52-54 percent of Americans were against Obamacare? Well, we’re headed down that same road with Feinstein’s gun “control” (read confiscation).

It’s not about hunting. It’s about a free and independent people being able to defend themselves from a government that has grown oppressive.

MoreLiberty on January 5, 2013 at 8:38 AM

Damn straight.

When Cornwallis and Burgoyne came to the colonies to put down the rebellion they thought it would be a cake walk. In the beginning they were correct but after years of war they had their lunch taken away. The difference was the rebels had guns and they knew how to use them.

Everyone who lived in the wilderness, the farmers and shopkeepers alike had to know how to shoot to provide for their families and also they had to defend their property from attacks from “Native Americans” and bandits, sorry no 911 at the time to call. There were also those veterans who fought during the French and Indian Wars during the 1760′s of whom a young uninspiring George Washington served.

The Founding Fathers were great fortellers of the future and knew that an armed citizenry would be a free one. They saw that goverments that had a disarmed populace would leave the people to be at the mercy of their leaders.

Today the libtards and the media want to tell us there is no need for automatic and semi-automatic weapons, they are so wrong.
Back then everything was equal. The British had flintlocks, the rebels had flintlocks. The British had canon, the rebels had canon.

Today the government has semi and full auto weapons. The government also has Drones armed with Hellfire missles. They can monitor your movements tracking your cell phones or getting warrentless wiretaps to listen in on your conversations, think about that when you start talking about overthrowing the government.

To me the second amendment is the most important. Without it the rest of the Constitution would become privileges and like any privilege they can be revoked at any time.

Liam on January 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM

I dated a prison guard for a couple years. She was 110lbs of courage, and a darn good shot too! Her mantra was “I got this”…

One time an inmate came into the prison and he found out that his kid was in her daughter’s class at school. He attempted to use that to gain some type of leverage over her. He even sent a letter to the house, a letter which had to be smuggled out btw because of the policies that would have stopped it at the prison.

It took about 2 days to have him transferred to a different prison. Luckily the daughter seemed to never have been approached at school about the whole thing. The prison system as I remember it treated the contact as an implied threat even though there was no direct words making one.

Also, they moved him without informing him officially on the why…

By doing this this newspaper has put many innocent people at risk. These guards and their families are not the only ones… but they clearly have been harmed by this.

The newspaper should be shut down, but not by some lawsuit or government action… By the community that they pretend to server. Fire the lot of them by never buying their paper…

Fallon on January 5, 2013 at 10:05 AM

How about Great Britain who was so proud of their armed citizenry while Germany and the rest had dictators come to power?

See or search:

Gun Control in England:
The Tarnished Gold Standard

Joyce Lee Malcolm

“The result of the ban has been costly. Thousands of weapons were confiscated at great financial cost to the public. Hundreds of thousands of police hours were devoted to the task. But in the six years since the 1997 handgun ban, crimes with the very weapons banned have more than doubled, and firearm crime has
increased markedly.iii
In 2002, for the fourth consecutive year, gun crime in England and Wales rose—by 35 percent for all firearms, and by a whopping 46 percent for the banned handguns. Nearly 10,000 firearms
offences were committed.iv
The shootings in a single week in the fall of 2003—of a Liverpool football player and two other men in a bar, of three men in a drive-by attack in Reading, of a 32-year-old builder leaving a
health club in Hertfordshire, of a 64-year-old woman trying to protect her daughter during a Nottinghamshire burglary—provoked Oliver Letwin, shadow home secretary, to remark: “One might have thought that this was Baghdad. In fact it‟s Blair‟s Britain.”v
At the annual conference in May, British police chiefs were warned that gun crime in the UK was growing “like a cancer.”
vi They already knew. For the first time in their history some police units are now routinely armed. American policemen have been hired to advise the British police. Clearly since the ban
criminals have not found it difficult to get guns and the balance has not shifted in the interest of public safety.
Armed crime is only one part of an increasingly lawless English environment. According to Scotland Yard, in the four years from 1991 to 1995 crimes against the person in England‟s inner cities increased by 91 percent. In the four years from 1997 to 2001 the rate of violent crime more than doubled. The UK murder
rate for 2002 was the highest for a century.
The startling crime rate increases are not the result of a low starting point. British crime rates are high
compared to those of other developed nations. A recent study of all the countries of western Europe has found that in 2001 Britain had the worst record for killings, violence and burglary, and its citizens had one of the highest risks in the industrialized world of becoming victims of crime.vii

Offences of violence in the UK were three times the level of the next worst country in western Europe, burglaries at nearly twice the nextworst level. The results are in line with the findings of a United Nations study of eighteen industrialized countries, including the United States, published in July 2002. The UN study found England and Wales at the top of the Western world‟s crime league, with the worst record for “very serious” offences and nearly 55 crimes per 100 people.viii
The government insists things are improving but, as Letwin pointed out, “One thing which no amount of statistical manipulation can disguise is that violent crime has doubled in the last six
years and continues to rise alarmingly.”ix
The comparison with the United States is especially interesting because people who support gun restrictions are fond of contrasting England‟s strict gun laws and low rate of violent crime with America‟s, where there are an estimated 200 million private firearms and where 37 states now have shall issue laws that
allow law-abiding residents to carry a concealed weapon. But the old stereotype of England as the peaceable kingdom and America as the violent, cowboy republic no longer holds. By 1995, with the exception of murder and rape, England‟s rate for every type of violent crime had far surpassed America‟s.x
The American murder rate has been substantially higher than the English rate for at least 200 years, during most of which
neither country had stringent restrictions on firearms.
xi But the English and American rates are now converging. While Americans have enjoyed over a decade of sharply declining homicide rates, rates described by the Boston Globe in 1999 as “in startling free-fall,” English rates have risen dramatically. In 1981 the US rate was 8.7 times the English rate; in 1995 it was 5.7 times the English rate, and in 2002 3.5 times the English rate. xii

In case you missed racist comments I shall never make in an earlier post, I shall repeat what I wouldn’t dare suggest. Registering blacks, Latinos and the poor.

First, we crazy Americans just shoot one another. Comparing us to the Brits or Danes is just dumb. It is the American Race, stupid.

But what about registering and watching or locking up minorities…like nutty people? I got the idea while in Jamaica. there, you pay $6,000 to register a handgun, they have penalties on the books, they have a special, strict gun court. A thug told me the cops just kill you if you have a gun, have a record, and they see it. Bang!

Their rate is 44.7 while the US is 10.2. Please look at the list and tell me about registration.

I would add that someone with more info than I have said that Kenya and a few other places cook the books.
