Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

posted at 8:01 am on December 30, 2012 by Allahpundit

No question who the star guest is this morning or what the topic du jour will be. Mercifully, we’re almost at the end of this months-long Scooby Doo episode. O’s job spin-wise this morning is to peel back the villain’s mask to reveal — gasp — John Boehner.

Hopefully he’ll also take the opportunity to arrest David Gregory for possession of a high-capacity magazine. Someone joked yesterday on Twitter that O might pardon him instead. Silly tweeter: The only pardons Obama grants are to turkeys. The full line-up via National Journal:

Meet the Press hosts President Obama.

Face the Nation hosts Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin and Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla.

This Week hosts Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean

Fox News Sunday hosts Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.

State of the Union hosts Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., and Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Md.

You’ve got to hand it to Obysmal. He uses television with regularity as his bully pulpit, knowing that the hosts/interviewers will not challenge him or give him any in-depth questions. He floods the airwaves with his propaganda, which is never analyzed critically.

Gregory’s whole program will be nothing but fluff because that is what celebrities demand in order to grace the studio.

Its always amazing to see how relentless poor uneducated white conservatives are willing to fight and protect tax cuts that have nothing to do with them.
Sometimes I think these folks have been brainwashed to the extent that they will rather see the rich get all the tax cuts they want even if their taxes will be raised to pay for it. Very strange.

Yep, and he’ll be in his element and on his game. The pretense and narcissism are becoming more obvious, but folks like Gregory have absolutely no incentive to do much more than gush and fawn.

You know how Obysmal always arranges a backdrop of supporters when he presents a typical plan? Wouldn’t it be a hoot if behind the Big O there were a group of taxpayers about to get it in the neck if his taxation ploy goes into effect? They could spell out in dollars and cents what the Obysmal New Year will bring. Maybe they could challenge the Fresh Prince of Bill Ayers with some economic facts since the interviewers are not so inclined.

Yes you are, but we can discuss that some other time. Who creates the jobs HAL? The poor mooches and undereducated class and low info types that support the one you fluff for? Tell me this HAL, how old we’re you when you earned your first million? How many do you employ? What is your educational status? Funny you equate education with the ability to produce wealth. I will say to you that most educated folks take jobs that rely on the wealth that others produce. True that wealth creators, I.e. job creators come from both educated and not traditionally educated groups. You, what have you done, you act so high and mighty. I suspect you lack any accomplishment.

Lord, please insulate us and protect from the stupid and venal. Amen.
.
And to the dumbass who posited that “poor uneducated white conservatives are willing to fight and protect tax cuts that don’t apply to them,” Feinstein on FNS just blasted $400,000 as the income threshold and maintained that $250,000 was the limit campaigned upon, is the limit on which the campaign was won and even $400,000 as a compromise was too high a bar.
.
I don’t know about the rest of you poor white conservatives (let alone black, red, yellow, blue and purple conservatives) but $250,000 is directly in my wheelhouse. So, when Democrats say $1,000,000 they mean $400,000 or $250,000 or $100,000 or even $50,000 with tax rate increases to arise sooner than later in the Federal Budget and Fleece The Public Schedule.
.
Do ya get it or are you still stupid?

This is the socialist way. They start saying millionaires and billionaires. Very quickly they’re talking about people on $20,000 a year paying extra taxes. They then offer rebates, credits, and assorted handouts to make up for the taxes on low income families AND EXPECT THEM TO BE GRATEFUL.

Government as Pimp Daddy. You best show some love for Big Poppa, or he’ll whip your ass.

CorporatePiggy on December 30, 2012 at 10:17 AM

Anyone who watched this interview and thought it just happened out of the blue and was not a product of weeks of tutoring by the bent axel, President jarrett et. all is sadly mistaken.

This was a very well rehearsed POS of one lie after another after another all designed to setup the agenda of the regime for the coming year. The con is to use zero’s phony popularity to pass huge agendas like amnesty, gun control, stopping our energy boom as much as possible, all while demonizing the Republican Party for as long as low information voters will fall for his lies.

Also included, more class warfare since it polls so well, keeping the elderly in check not letting them know about the huge 700 billion cuts coming their way, and blaming everything on us.Meanwhile its more socialism and less capitalism.

The interview was also very dependent on DNC dave not asking any of those pesky questions like “why did you let our guys die in Benghazi, why don’t you compromise with the right, where the hell is the budget you haven’t passed in over 1300 days, why do you lie about your negotiations with Boehner” and on and on and on.
All in all it was a slick half hour of how many lies can you cram into a limited time.
Zero is still campaigning, its all he knows. This time the mission is to destroy America as fast as he can while still at a near apex of personal power which he knows won’t last long.

Ag secretary sees common ground on gun control

Vilsack says the debate has to start with respect for the Second Amendment right to bear arms and a recognition that hunting is a way of life for millions of Americans.

But Vilsack said that the nation has reached “a different circumstance” in the gun control debate. It will take time, but it’s now “potentially a unifying conversation,” he said.

Blame is passed three ways in equal amounts. Obama is pleading to his parasitic constituency and attempting to shift blame from himself. Do any of the Obama voting idiots know that no legislation can become law unless it is signed by the president or voted on by a super majority within the congress to override any potential presidential veto by the president. Yes, the state we’re in is a self inflicted wound and the senate the house and Obama all had their fingers on the trigger. One more time you fools . . . your president did not veto this legislation and signed it into law. Therefore, he is equally responsible for its affect on the nation.

This so called stupid white conservative understands that raising taxes on people maling $250 and up hurts small business and affects hiring and spending of that small business. Raising taxes on capital gains and dividends causes less investment and therefore less revenue. Raising inheritence taxes causes less revenue and famillies are forced to sell land assets and familly business which also hurts the job market. Taxes should be lowered on everyone to spur spending and investing. Wow understanding basic economics and looking at past examples of what happens when you raise taxes on anyone in an economic downturn might be something a few white and maybe even black and brown conservatives might just get.

You trade in stereotypes borne of ignorance (“uneducated white conservatives,” “the rich”) and foster a predictable class warfare, appealing to the most base of human pathos — avarice, envy, sloth, anger — while simultaneously accusing others of being “brainwashed.”

Given the number of people in America who ignore, defend, or don’t care about Obama’s lean, I see us headed toward a de facto one-party political system and a two-class country. I can’t see, in my remaining lifetime, another Ronald Reagan becoming president. While I won’t believe in some kind of coup, I’m sadly convinced we’ll be the first people in history to willingly surrender our freedom.

Sometimes I think these folks have been brainwashed to the extent that they will rather see the rich get all the tax cuts they want even if their taxes will be raised to pay for it. Very strange.

Can.I.be.in.the.middle on December 30, 2012 at 12:14 PM

Of course, what we need to point out is what both HotAirLib and Can.I.be.in.the.middle support and endorse:

Now, back taxes have been a problem for the Obama-Biden administration. You may recall early on that Tom Daschle was the president’s top pick to run the Health and Human Services Department. But it turned out the former Democratic senator, who was un-elected from South Dakota in 2004, owed something like $120,000 to the IRS for things from his subsequent benefactor that he just forgot to pay taxes on. You know how that is. $120G’s here or there. So he dropped out.

And then we learned this guy Timothy Geithner owed something like $42,000 in back taxes and penalties to the IRS, which is one of the agencies that he’d be in charge of as secretary of the Treasury. The fine fellow who’s supposed to know about handling everyone else’s money. In the end this was excused by Washington’s bipartisan CYA culture as one of those inadvertent accidental oversights that somehow never seem to happen on the side of paying too much taxes.

And under Geithner’s expert guidance the U.S. economy has been, well, wow! Just look at it.

Privacy laws prevent release of individual tax delinquents’ names. But we do know that as of the end of 2009, 41 people inside Obama’s very own White House owe the government they’re allegedly running a total of $831,055 in back taxes.

But there’s more.

The tax revelations are the only the latest problem for McCaskill involving the plane, however.

In the wake of a Politico report that had billed the government for her travel on the aircraft, she quickly reimbursed taxpayers for the trips, hoping to avoid a protracted political problem.

But, it was then revealed that she had billed taxpayers for a purely political trip — deepening her potential exposure on the issue.

And then there’s everyone’s favorite, the leader of the CBC, Barack Obama’s own soulmate and the Congressman for all our New York trolls:

Besides not paying those pesky taxes, Mr. Rangel had other reasons for wanting to hide income. As the tenant of four rent-stabilized apartments in Harlem, the Congressman needed to keep his annual reported income below $175,000, lest he be ineligible as a hardship case for rent control. (He also used one of the apartments as an office in violation of rent-control rules, but that’s another story.)

Mr. Rangel said last fall that “I never had any idea that I got any income’’ from the villa. Try using that one the next time the IRS comes after you. Equally interesting is his claim that he didn’t know that the developer of the Dominican Republic villa had converted his $52,000 mortgage to an interest-free loan in 1990. That would seem to violate House rules on gifts, which say Members may only accept loans on “terms that are generally available to the public.” Try getting an interest-free loan from your banker.

The National Legal and Policy Center also says it has confirmed that Mr. Rangel owned a home in Washington from 1971-2000 and during that time claimed a “homestead” exemption that allowed him to save on his District of Columbia property taxes. However, the homestead exemption only applies to a principal residence, and the Washington home could not have qualified as such since Mr. Rangel’s rent-stabilized apartments in New York have the same requirement.

So why again, is it, that liberals support and endorse cheating on your taxes and welfare fraud, and also elect those who do it to high office?

Can.I.be.in.the.middle on December 30, 2012 at 12:14 PM

Awww, the concern troll is panicking.

Mainly because the liar Obama is panicking, as we saw with his whining screaming tantrum with criminal David Gregory this morning.

And the answer is simple.

1) Let the fiscal cliff happen, the cuts kick in, and the tax raises kick in.

2) Put forth a bill to make permanent the Bush tax rates — and to immediately cut $8 trillion from spending for the next ten years.

3) Have the CBO score it using the Obama Party’s double-dipping accounting, in which the spending cuts count twice, PLUS the reduction from not growing the budget.

This will pass the House unanimously on the GOP side, and will please everyone in the GOP – mainly because all it does is permanently remove the $800 billion “stimulus” from the budget baseline.

And then watch the screaming Obama brat have a meltdown, because any plan he and his Pelosi and Reid put forward from that point will score worse than the Republican plan in terms of reducing tax burden AND reducing the deficit.

And when Obama screams and kicks and tries to block it, hammer the public and the media with, “You COULD have responsible tax cuts, but the poor Obama child won’t give up wasteful government spending so you can pay less.”

HotAirLib on December 30, 2012 at 8:23 AM

This is an interesting personal observation. My memory of tax legislation is very poor. Could you cite tax legislation that specifically called for lowering taxes on the wealthy (whatever that threshold was) and in turn raised taxes on a specified income range of the middle class? It would be helpful.

That is pretty stupid, hal – but we expect no better from you and your sort.
