The general consensus seems to be that the US economy will slowly improve over the next few years … not because of the policies of Barack Obama, but in spite of them.

From what my late father used to tell me, the economy also improved in spite of FDR. Just sayin.’

We are a resilient people and a resilient nation.

Prospects for our future economic security may look fairly dismal at the moment, but these things tend to unfold in cycles.

America always finds a way to fight its way back when we look like we’re down for the count.

The only question is how far down we’ll have to go before that happens, but I still have to believe that it will.

3. Why?

It was purely political-driven.

2012 ties with 2008 as the worst year in my lifetime. I expect 2013 to be no better. Cheers.

Yep. This is all part of their long war. Bill Ayers is in charge of teaching our teachers – that’s all you need to know. Many elite colleges don’t require any history courses to graduate and some of these colleges don’t require a single course in American History to be, ta da, a history major. It’s an absolute disgrace and we’re doomed unless we detoxify the poisoned minds of future generations.

His voter support is from naive people: they think there’s some turning point he’s going to deliver especially to them to right their resentments. They don’t seem capable (yet) of learning, knowing that there isn’t any magic-pill or rabbit-hole for them to take or trip through that’ll turn a black and white screen into some kaliediscope colors.

There’s no easy fix, they aren’t going to win the lottery tomorrow, Obama won’t be moving in with them, they can’t eat candy and ice cream every day and be thin tomorrow…

there’s been this really immature, delusional imprint on Obama by his voting base that assumes “just voting for him” means someone else will be bringing them breakfast in bed right after they pay off their mortgage for them. Obama’s an incompetent fool as he is also a creepy liar and the voters who supported and support him are responsible as he is for the damages he’s waging.

What makes you think hitting rock bottom would kill Socialism? The New Deal came out of the Great Depression. It would have the exact opposite effect, making more people dependent on government, more fearful – a very dangerous prospect with BO in charge.

Every.time I think that the confusion going on is due to how information-repeated suffers permutations of content and interpretational differences, misunderstandings, etc….THEN I read something like that, above, and I realize that there are some EXCEPTIONALLY ethically and mentally deranged people in high places in our govt. That includes Obama and it certainly includes Harry Reid.

Gang, Obama is just a symptom of the real problem: A depraved electorate. There are no political solutions for what ails the country. We’ve ceded academia, the entertainment industry and the media to the left for 40+ years. A majority of the country no longer believes in the greatness of America. Great empires decline. This quasi-socialism that is passing for American governance is way too expensive to sustain and is killing the very thing necessary for an economy to grow…having a population of citizens unfettered, willing to risk, willing to lose, in effort to achieve personal success…without government constantly holding them back in order to somehow level the playing field.

I do not see any sort of growth over the next four years resembling anything close to what the economy was a mere five years ago, when having 5 or 6 percent unemployment was “intolerable” and a stain on the American economy.

And most Americans have never experienced an economy where the value of the local currency changes daily, downward, and that currency cannot buy anything at all save for what the government allows to be sold.

“General consensus”? Is that like global warming science? I don’t know anyone who believes this, not with skyrocketing taxes/spending/regulations. Not only will the economy not improve it’s going into freefall. Wish I had a cheerier scenario for you, but things are very grim indeed. Unless you’re, say, Joe Biden and just got a sweet sweet raise we paid for.
