For all it’s talk about the need for “a diversity of ideas” The GOP sure does seem hypocritical when it’s time to walk the walk.

Libertarians like Ron Paul who don’t tow the Israel line = No place in the GOP or mainstream politics.

Paleocons like Buchanan who don’t tow the Israel line = No place in the GOP or mainstream politics.

Regular cons like hagel who don’t tow the Israel line = No place in the GOP or mainstream politics.

Not that there’s a litmus test or anything. Kinda like the whole resistance to state’s rights when gays, weed, or euthanasia are the state’s right in question.

Is Obama floating these trial balloons just so he can go out and campaign on how mean Congress — both the Rs and Ds — are to him? Is it some sort of ploy for pity? Or he is setting Congress up for someone so totally incompetent and inappropriate no one in their right mind would vote to confirm this individual, but will be forced to vote for because the congress critters’ constituencies believe the crap about how mean Congress is to the Big Zero? (On the other hand, how many candidates for Attorney General did Slick Willie burn through before finding a woman without a paid-under-the-table-no-taxes-withheld domestic helper?) Maybe Zero honestly believes he can force his choice through Congress this way.

When Trent Lott priased Thurmond, Lott had to resign as senate majority leader, since Thurmond was a segregationist years ago, and Lott was seen as endorsing a racist.

Oh, wait….it’s only GOP legislators who are held accountable for what they say and do. (Robert “KKK” Byrd vs. Srtom Thurmond comes to mind). My bad.
