I think Scott Brown, regular guy, beats celebrity Ben Affleck. Massachusetts may be a very blue state, but it has a very blue collar sensibility to it that I don’t think takes to celebrity rule like that.

They can sit in the back and contemplate each other’s butt cracks, vote ‘aye’ for every single Democrat fiasco Dingy Harry brings to the floor, and complement each others forays into acting.

If you’re intreged by local folklore, pick up a copy of Howie Carr’s The Brother’s Bulger.

It’s an excellent read and points out that there really is no difference between Whitey and the worst of the worst mafioso. He was a psychopathic torturer, killer and pedophile – a really nasty piece of work.

I always thought that the whole point of our system was that the average joe could run for office and get elected and that we wanted to avoid having a political class of professional politicians. It seems to me that demanding a qualification beyond just common knowledge and intelligence goes against what was intended. I for one would love to see a day when not just the rich or connected could run for office.
