There was a time in America when someone could carry their guns onto a plane without any problems at all. Long guns would get stashed in the coat closet at the front (because they wouldn’t fit in the overhead bins); and pistols stayed with your carry-ons..under the seat or in the overhead.

Then, hijacking as a hobby became popular…so the natural solution was to disarm anyone who could have helped stop a hijacking. /s/

Somehow, I can’t see 9/11 ending the same if the old ways were still in effect.

Not to mention that during the Great Depression many southern and heartland United States citizens used those guns to put food on the table instead of rock soup and wish sandwiches.

Various friends who grew up in small towns have mentioned how during the Great Depression and and in better times their fellow students would put their rifles in the back of the classroom during the school day so that those would be available for hunting after school and from hunting in the mornings before school. They could hang their game outside the building(s) knowing that in those American pre-ghetto-ocracy days no one would take it.

I read this article the other day and posted it in another thread which talked about confiscation from law enforcement’s perspective. The money lines for me were “We didn’t sign up to engage Americans as enemy combatants”. “The answer would be F*%K NO all the way up the chain of command.”

Guns are more than just a way of life for some. When you get into the south and deep south, it’s an ancestral thing. At least it is for me. If Obama really tried to enforce confiscation, it wouldn’t end well.

I get the lake effect snow from Lake Erie, but I heard we won’t be having a white Christmas this year. In what area of Canada do you live?

Earlier in the week MeTV had Mr. Ziffel (guardian of our own beloved Arnold Ziffel) repeating that very line about the judge the visiting Mr. Drysdale would face where the two things Judge Vinegar Joe Johson hates most are bankers and those who interrupt his fishing.
