This is a case where the President wants the Political trophy of destroying the two-party system at ANY cost.

I say that Bonner needs to have a House vote on his latest offer and put the onus on the Senate and the President to come up with something better… if they don’t, then let’s all hold hands and go over the ‘cliff’, singing Kumbaya.

The ‘fiscal cliff’ is a manifestation of political CYA. None of our leaders want to take the lead and actually do the right thing because someone might say something bad about them and not let them play after the enxt election.

Let’s go over the ‘cliff’ and let what happens, happen. At least we’ll know who (our entire government leadership) to blame.

It should also be noted that Boehner is talking to the wrong guy: the budget is properly decided in the House. Pelosi is the correct negotiator for the Democrats.

I’m also disgusted by Obummer playing with people’s lives. Thanks to his economic decisions both my husband and I lost our jobs. We get by now on my husband’s meager military retirement and charity from relatives. We routinely have lots of unpaid bills now. My car was totaled in an accident last summer (not my fault) but it was an old car and we cannot even afford to replace it. This would have never happened under the economy of any other president in my lifetime.

I wonder if the O would cut social programs and various handouts just to blame the Republicans? That’s the most Machiavellian scenario I can come up with.

Aren’t these the people who have been plausibly accused of coming up with and conducting “Fast and Furious” in order to demonize firearms in civilian hands–even with the probable (and unfortunately true) side effect of causing several to many deaths?

I usually reserve the word ” hate” for specail occasions, but I am going to use it right here. I HATE Obama. Not because hes black, o no, because he thinks it funny to play with peoples lives like he has done. He does not want to extend the tax rates for no one. Its a game to him. If they expire, he can get a huge tax increase he has always wanted, he dont care who it comes from.

The GOP will be betraying the oaths they took to their voters, (the American people), to accomplish something that is wrong, (increasing taxes during an economic recession/depression), in order to avoid doing something that is healthy and right, (decreasing corporate welfare payments to corrupt political cronies to take a step toward balancing the budget).

There’s nothing forcing Boehner and the GOP to vote for tax increases, they can easily vote present and let the Democrats take responsibility. Voting to raise taxes will entail higher political risks for the GOP than merely voting present. Unfortunately the GOP is a tool of lobbyists and special interests. If the GOP doesn’t vote to raise taxes then the sequestration will go into affect, and although that would be a positive step for the benefit of Americas future, IMO, it will also mean that corporate welfare payments to Boehner’s and the GOP’s cronies will increase at a slightly slower rate in the future, (thus a good thing for America, but bad for the GOP elite).

Boehner and his merry band of GOP insiders have amply demonstrated that they are impervious to such realities. They exist in their own little insulated world where they dance to a drummer paid for by their cronies and lobbyists rather than the drum beat of the real world populated by the American people that they’re supposed to serve.
