Poll: OOTY prelims, Flight 6

posted at 9:31 am on December 16, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

We finally have the first semifinal for the OOTY filled up and, er, “doing fine,” thanks to your responses in last week’s poll.  Now we’ll start on the next semifinal bracket with these five choices from the OOTW winners this year.  Which one will go to the next round for the OOTY?  Be sure to cast your vote:

  • “Because we’re leading around the world, people have a new attitude toward America. There’s more confidence in our leadership. We see it everywhere we go.”
  • “Just like we’ve tried their plan, we tried our plan — and it worked.”
  • “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”
  • “But the nature of this office is also to tell a story to the American people…”
  • Pitches amnesty policy at naturalization ceremony of people who entered legally

Previous Obamateurisms of the Year:

  • Giving 2 minutes of “shout-outs” before getting to the Fort Hood shooting (2009)
  • Obama leaves Clinton at press conference podium on tax deal to attend Christmas party (2010)
  • “I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president— with the possible exceptions of Johnson, F.D.R., and Lincoln.” (2011)

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

Time to build the bridge to the Soviet Empire’s past.

you didn’t build that!

that should have been the game changer right there in the election…cripe

Reagan’s relection theme: It’s morning in America.
Clinton’s reelection theme: A bridge to the 21st century
Obama’s reelection theme: You didn’t build that.

As the owner of a, struggling for 3-1/2 years, small business, I can’t begin to share how PROFOUNDLY angry I am at this careless, thoughtless comment.

Jack*ss.

herm2416 on December 16, 2012 at 9:51 AM

I still can’t believe “You didn’t build that” failed to bury his re-election chances.

Stinkin moochers.

Naturally Curly on December 16, 2012 at 9:53 AM

60 million people wouldn’t have voted for “You didn’t build that.”

I have yet to see Bark’s political response to Sandy Hook, so I’ll hold off for now.

“You didn’t build that”

It hard to imagine anything he could say that would be more profoundly unAmerican, more alien and hostile to the American spirit, that “you didn’t build that”.

No one so contemptuous of this country should ever be allowed to lead it.

petefrt on December 16, 2012 at 10:00 AM

Option #3. If you chose something else, then I think we can all agree that you acted stupidly.

Mr. Prodigy on December 16, 2012 at 10:07 AM

I see a pattern forming with this. The winner will be in the middle.

Bmore on December 16, 2012 at 10:07 AM

You didn’t build that by a country mile.

He ran up his colors and truly revealed himself with that simple statement.

CorporatePiggy on December 16, 2012 at 10:09 AM

I went with #1, even though I knew #3 would win by a huge margin.

BallisticBob on December 16, 2012 at 10:12 AM

Americans have built a dictatorship.

hillsoftx on December 16, 2012 at 10:15 AM

“You didn’t build that!” I profoundly unAmerican. I figured he was a goner after that was uttered. However, we don’t seem to remember that he said something equally unAmerican and was elected the first time with what he said to Joe the Plumber. “We have to spread the wealth around a little.”

The stupid and uninformed are all around us. They think we are lying when we tell the story of what is really happening. We have to overcome the MSM and so far we aren’t. I don’t think we have time to “show” these people. We’ll be done as a nation if we do. We have to educate them fast. The New Media isn’t enough. I hope someone figures it out soon.

Apart from the roads, the schools, the security and the aqueducts, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Each day that goes by, it becomes even more apparent just how incompetent and pathetic Romney’s campaign actually was.

FireBlogger on December 16, 2012 at 10:41 AM

…I went with #1…since #3 still got him elected!
I look at the Middle East, the Marine in prison in Mexico for ‘declaring’ an antique gun and numerous other instances for deciding how much the worldrespectss us!…versus 4 years ago.

KOOLAID2 on December 16, 2012 at 10:44 AM

Every time I read this winner a tin foil hat
appears on my head and I’m convinced the
election was a fraud !

Sigh, what we all knew was going to happen, is indeed happening already. The Usual Fifth Column Treasonous Media Marxist propagandist talking heads are screaming for more Gun Restriction. They seem utterly incapable of grasping or even considering that what is at issue is personal responsibility, not Guns.

SWalker on December 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM

Naturally Curly, there are so many reasons his re-election should have been buried that it makes one wonder ……….no?

wonder if we will have a finale run off between the past year winners?

Blaming it on guns deflects criticism from the cultural rot that their ‘liberalism’ has created.

They’re all so bad. Remind me: how did he win this time? Every time I see him on TV, I think, “Really? He can’t lead. He won’t tell the truth. He has no idea what he’s doing. He is going to do everything he can to break the bank and ensure the future is as bleak as possible. How did he get reelected?”

It’s going to be a long four years.

Really? They won. You don’t really think they didn’t know what Owe is doing, do you? It’s not that they didn’t know. It’s that they didn’t care as long as they got their free iPhone, welfare, food stamps and made sure everyone else would soon look like them.
