Helpful union surrogate vows to chase Gov. Rick Snyder’s daughter to soccer game

posted at 11:31 am on December 15, 2012 by Jazz Shaw

The great thing about Democracy – as I’m sure you’ll all agree – is that once the campaigns, debates and battles are over and the people have spoken, everyone can pick up the pieces and get on with productive work to advance the principles each side believes in. Clearly, such is the case in Michigan, where defeated but undaunted union advocates have already begun dusting themselves off and …

Nope.

LANSING — A speaker at a union protest against right-to-work legislation said if Gov. Rick Snyder signed the bill he would get “no rest” and that protesters would be at his “daughter’s soccer game.” …

The Rev. Charles Williams II made the comments Tuesday to loud cheers before a group of thousands of union workers. After his promises to harass Gov. Snyder, he introduced Rep. Richard Hammel, D-Mt. Morris Township, and House Minority Leader Tim Greimel, D-Auburn Hills. Williams is a Detroit-area pastor and left-wing activist.

Gov. Snyder later that day signed a bill into law making Michigan a right-to-work state. One of his daughters is a 16-year-old high school student.

Well, that’s just lovely. The truly ironic part of all of this is that Governor Snyder wasn’t even working on the whole Right to Work thing as the initial part of his term. He was pushing for some fiscal sanity and spurring job creation. It was the people of the state who elected representatives in the legislative branch who brought the issue forward. At that point the governor had to weigh the merits of the legislation and act upon it. And yet those who came out on the short end of the stick feel that democracy is best served by chasing his 16 year old daughter around to school events.

Should the governor be worried? Well, given the calm, reasoned welcome that Steven Crowder received from these guys, it should certainly give him pause. The governor, of course, should have access to some form of personal security which will hopefully keep him and his family safe from violence, but the same can not be said for everyone else in the state who may be hoping to find a job. But in the meantime, Reverend Williams and his flock will be hanging around the soccer field.

Unfortunately for this logistical brain trust, there was still one wrinkle in their plan.

It appears that union protesters would have little luck finding the governor at the soccer field. According to a player profile on AnnArbor.com, his daughter participates only in softball and volleyball.

Ah, well. At least your heart’s in it. Let’s go to the video on this chipper Saturday morning.

Michigan has a strong anti-stalking law.
Nail the filth.

The Stalking Bill took effect January 1, 1993.

Stalking is defined as: “a willful course of conduct involving repeated or continuing harassment of another individual that would cause a reasonable person to feel terrorized, frightened, intimidated, threatened, harassed, or molested, and that actually causes the victim to feel terrorized, frightened, intimidated, threatened, harassed, or molested.”

“willful course of conduct” refers to a pattern of behavior made up of a series of two or more separate and noncontinuous acts which share the same purpose.

To be “harassed” means that there is repeated contact without permission, which results in emotional distress.

Effective 10/15/97.

Stoic Patriot on December 15, 2012 at 12:08 PM

Given that the law doesn’t “crush” unions at all, rather presents workers with a choice to join a union or be independent, your question makes no sense. No one is prevented from “their ability to earn a living.”

What’s “utterly bizarre” is your belief that people should be forced to join unions and give up a portion of their paycheck to them. Perhaps you might find it interesting that unemployment is lower in right-to-work states, giving more people more opportunity than non-right-to-work states do.

By the way, working class voters didn’t leave the GOP this election. Single women and minorities cost the GOP the election. The only thing the Dems did well this election was to make sure college women were told that the GOP wants to take away birth control and force them to have babies. Go ahead and pat yourself on the back for that feat, because that was 26% of the total voting population.

Y’all should read his bio on the Huffington Post (where else?). He sounds like a complete moron:

Through those experiences, Rev. Williams was eager to reach into the real world, and be a part of a movement for change. From college campus political activity, social justice corporate and issue campaigns, to leading political campaigns for candidates like U.S Senator Debbie Stabenow and Al Sharpton, and serving in the office of the pastorate as a special assistant at New Galilee Baptist Church. Rev. Williams charge had been confirmed by his opportunity to be mentored by Pastor C. L Branch, the Rev. Horace L. Sheffield III, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rev. Jim Holly, Rev. Al Sharpton, Rev. Timothy McDonald, U.S Senator Debbie Stabenow, William Lucy, Dick Gregory and Rev. Joseph Lowery. Although, Running Political Campaigns, Engaging in Partisan Politics, engaging in Social advocacy, and evangelizing around the city of Detroit is a dream realized for Rev. Williams. The destination of accomplishment is a far off.

At the current age of 29, Rev. Williams can look back and smile at his accomplishments, but only long enough to re-energize and prepare to work toward the next level of work that awaits in the future at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church. To this, Rev. Williams continues to work in the labor movement with the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees AFSCME, chairs and incubated the National Council for Community Empowerment (NCCE), President of the National Action Network Detroit Chapter and now stands as the Pastor of the King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church, the historic pulpit where Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Thurgood Marshall, T.S Boone and a host of Americas leaders used as a stage to spread a progressive message for change.

As Rev. Williams’ life unravels, education has become a continuous instrument of growth: from undergraduate studies at Eastern Michigan University and on to graduate studies. Rev. Williams believes the scripture Hosea 6:4 “My people perish because of lack of knowledge” and acts on the words by the Islamic prophet Muhammad “seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave.

20 innocent children shot and murdered…but these filthy vermin all alive and free to threaten their political opponents with hate and violence.

No justice.

Ooooo… Those really are beautiful. I thought I would want the plum bowl until I saw the red oak! Don’t know which I like better. All of them are gorgeous. Thanks for linking. I needed that. :) /OT

Stoic Patriot (1208), you are an idiot….let me guess, you are a liberal, probably a Union member, have no problem FORCING people to join unions & into paint dues (as no one would do so WILLINGLY anymore), & you have no problem with the good ‘reverend’ (& probably KKK GRAND WIZARD) threatening a governor & the man’s family simply because the governor restored his state’s citizens right to get a job without being forced to join a union and pay wasted dues?!

Tell me Stoic, what would YOU do if someone threatened YOUR children?

I have a friend that can do anything and everything, we usually teamed up to do PTA projects, I said she was the talent, I was the tranquilizer.

Reverend? Reverend of what, exactly?

Why not have a bunch of Right-to-Work activists stand outside his church at every service and chant loudly about the right to work? Tit-for-tat.

The funny thing is, people who have jobs or want jobs, usually have better things to do with their time. It might be one of our downfalls that annoying people in our free time isn’t something we do. I’m not trying to be snarky, the differences in the sides is just really that stark.

Cindy Munford on December 15, 2012 at 1:38 PM

The Grand Wizard…er, ‘Good Reverend’ is a black man….had the governor been a black man & the Reverend been a who’s man…

Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, & every other race-baiting racial vulture would have been there by now calling for the reverend’s head, blaming the Tea Party while calling them ‘Clan’…the media would be there bashing them unmercifully for such violent rhetoric & threats against children so soon after the CT shooting…& Obama – The head of the Liberal Civility Police, would be denouncing this as a racial attack instead of remaining silent as he is now…..(perhaps someone should look further into this ‘pastors’ past to see if he, too, used to be one of Obama’s MENTORS…)
