Axelrod: Hillary is in a “very, very strong position” for 2016

posted at 7:21 pm on December 13, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

The 2016 speculation is already going strong on both sides of the aisle, and while the Republicans have a pretty deep and dynamic bench set to go, the Democrats’ options for star power are going to be pretty thin on the ground. She keeps saying she has no interest in even going there and just wants a chance to enjoy her retirement, but not everyone’s convinced that that’s an honest-to-goodness answer and it hasn’t stopped the effusiveness coming in from all sides.

David Axelrod thinks Hillary Rodham Clinton would be the Democratic Party’s presidential front-runner in 2016, and that isn’t news. What does grab attention is the extent to which President Obama’s political guru on Thursday made it clear that Clinton would be nearly unbeatable in a Democratic primary.

He didn’t outright declare her the inevitable nominee, but he came awfully close.

“I think she’d be very strong,” Axelrod said at a National Journal policy summit. “First of all, having been engaged in a primary race with her … she is an indefatigable candidate and very, very powerful and she’s only stronger now for having four years of I think splendid leadership” as secretary of State.

He added: “I think she’d be in a very, very strong position,” he said. “I think the reality of a woman getting elected the president of the United States may be an even more powerful incentive in 2016.”

The Democrats will very likely need an exceptionally heavy hitter to win a third presidential election against a probably strong GOP contender — they need her, and they seem to know it. Her path might not be as smooth as many presume, but there’s going to be enormous pressure on her to run. Will she be able to resist? Or have all of these displays of disinterest always been just for show?

And she’s got a lot of different things that she can do, but I think the pressure on her to run for president is going to be enormous because I’ve not met a single Democrat that’s not said let Hillary run in 2016. We don’t want a primary. Let’s just go get this thing done. That’s the attitude across the country. And I think she’s going to hear that. In fact, I know she is. The people asking her and the pressure on her to run is going to be enormous.

She won’t run, since any black person who runs in the primary would automatically win.

Keep pushing this, folks. For once, let’s pick the other side’s candidate for them. Then we can spend the next four years ripping her to shreds.

Her popularity is a media-generated myth. She reminds everyone of someone’s ex-wife or battleax mother-in-law.

Perhaps I’m kinda a kockeyed optimist, but I think something very strikeing will happen in the next 4 months. As April comes around and people start firing up their 2012 versions of TurboTax, their eyes are going to pop out of their heads.

Let’s say Repubs completely cave on taxing the rich. Depending on your state (mine is CA, need I say more?) there are still plenty of taxes left that are going to NAIL people at all levels.

I’m especially eager to hearing from the rich lefties out here who supported the big 0 but kept ignoring the repeated attempts by their accountant to reach them.
“Can you PUHLEEESE tell Mr. Damen that his accountant has something veeerrryyy important to tell him?”.

Nonsense. Obama is conducting a thorough investigation of himself, remember?

Back on point. Unfortunately, I agree with Axelturd. We will be staring down $20T in debt, stagnant wages, a housing and job market in the toilet. Voters didn’t care about decline in 2012; they probably won’t care in 2016 either. Her team will successfully extricate her from Obama’s record and sell her on the basis of the fortuitous dot-com boom that took place under her husband.

Voters won’t care about Benghazi. They won’t care about Whitewater. They won’t care about her husband’s philandering. They will care about “the historic First Woman President” (never you mind that Hispanic impostor race-traitor over there – not historic).

Plus…

“That there should be this lingering infestation of really corrupt people who sit trying to dismantle the wishes of the people, the mandate that has been given to Barack Obama, and I don’t know what more they want. The only thing left for Barack Obama to do is to work like a third world dictator and just put all these guys in jail.”

Because (1) they apparently reflect the values vices now of the majority of Americans (to wit: Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barack Obama, et. al.), and (2) we now live in a mobocracy — pretty much a pure democracy vs. a Constitutional Republic — aka a “tyranny of the mob”?

ShainS on December 13, 2012 at 8:00 PM

Think about this, though. It’s impossible that the next Democrat nominee will be a white male. That is forever. The Republican Party is supposed to be the soft landing for the white Democrat power establishment because they have realized for years that there will be no power to be had as Democrats anymore. That is why the tea party so upset them to the point where they weren’t even criticizing the Republican Party for those few years. They were going to spoil the plan.

The easiest thing in the world for conservatives to do is spark a race war within the Democratic Party. We need to finance blacks in primaries against white liberal incumbents until whites no longer have a chance as Democrats. White Democrats in red states will have to support a blue inner city agenda or fight it out race against race in the party.

Recognize their problems and exploit it.

“Hillary is in a “very, very strong position” for 2016″

Really? Somehow it’s hard to imagine that sitting on the floor of a luxury hotel bathroom, head in toilet, barfing up a long night’s worth of top-shelf liquor as being a STRONG POSITION. And, being a raging drunk is only the tip of the iceberg for fat, old, unhealthy, traitorous Hillary – her problems are many, and, they are virtually insurmountable, even with the state-run media propping her up.

Let this be a lesson to the feckless Republican party. See how the Dems never label any of their candidates “unelectable”, “extreme”, etc…?

As we get closer to 2016, how many here are ready to bet on the next “moderate and electable” McCain-type or Romney-type candidate that the media and GOP strategists will try to foist on us?

What will be Billy Jeff’s reason for hanging out around the White House if she comes clean?

DaveDief on December 13, 2012 at 8:12 PM

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) has told Breitbart News yesterday that the State Department has “thwarted” his efforts to visit American survivors of Benghazi, some of whom are still recovering from injuries sustained during the attack.

“My understanding is that we still have some people in the hospital. I’d like to visit with them and wish them nothing but the best but the State Department has seen it unfit for me to know who those people are—or even how many there are,” Rep. Chaffetz said. I don’t know who they are. I don’t know where they live. I don’t know what state they’re from. I don’t even know how many there are. It doesn’t seem right to me.

“This is so patently different than any other experience I’ve had. Unfortunately, people have been killed and maimed and in harm’s way in Afghanistan and Iraq and in points beyond. It’s typically been the case that they would release those names but in this case, they won’t. My challenge is to the media. You try and figure it out. They won’t let Congress know. They won’t seem to let the media know either.”

Hillary can win among the predominantly white bobos who make up the majority of Democrats who go to Democrat primaries. She’ll be bulletproof.

0bama won the 2012 general election almost solely through goosing turnout among habitually non-voter minorities. She’ll get pwned.

I’m not as optimistic about ’16 being a Republican year due to Obama fatigue as some are here. I think that with the media bias and voter fraud both becoming even more blatant and pretty much nobody ready to dig in and root out the corruption, it will be a very long time before we have any sort of conservative as President.

That said, no it won’t be Hillary. They want a hard Marxist, and considering the forces that control the Socialist party now, if somebody pulls the First Lady gambit it will be Moochelle. I think Barry is going to hold control Putin/Medvedev style. He has some lackey waiting in the wings, maybe even Biden, to hold eight years, and then the Mooch gets her eight.

Gingotts on December 13, 2012 at 8:57 PM

Forget Benghazi. Just two words: Monica Lewinski. A large picture of a cigar should welcome Hillary to every meeting with voters and every stump speech. Clinton jokes should be refreshed – I know a few hundred at least – and posted daily on every blog. 90% of male votes are guaranteed, skin hue notwithstanding.

Ridicule is the single most powerful weapon.

This is ridiculous. Obama still has over a month before he even starts his second term. We still have a first bounce (fiscal cliff) recession (if no agreement) and a second bounce depression (Obamacare) to contend with along with scores of scandals, a nuclear Iran, total turmoil domestic and foreign, street riots, soup kitchens, a reverse brain drain and “fat cat” flight to more tax friendly countries and an effeminized powder puff military with whining yea-saying sycophant generals. In fact there is enough time for gravity to take its course and, as everyone knows, the “backend tax” on facial plastic surgery is that when the tightened skin slips and can’t be re-tightened, the recipent looks 15 years older than her actual age. Sorry Hillary!
