Republican Party – if you don’t want to go the way of the Whigs, then you need to do the following: 1. All of you Conservatives in Congress need to get in front of the cameras and demand Boehner’s resignation due to his spineless capitulation. Use buzz words and speak with boldness. Demand that the government adheres to the Constitution and do with government only the things that the Constitution requires of it. Then, put forth a limited government proposal that drastically cuts the size and scope of the federal government, including cutting entire departments like the EPA and NEA. List them out by name. To hell with what the Media says. Get in their faces when the spin comes and force them to cover your side. Let the people hear free market, Constitutional ideas. Let the people be educated. Everytime a Media cockroach then tries to lie and spin your comments, name them, get in their faces and shame them for their biased, faulty coverage. Force them to hear you! The truth will overcome their biased spin. Stand strong, principled and let the blame come. Don’t back down. Follow Obama everywhere he goes and counter his lies. 2. Alternatively, do all the above, except for when it comes to the point where you can’t get the Democrats to cut spending, you all just vote “present” and then immediately, aggressively, and passionately explain why and that this “lesson” will be hard, but necessary to awaken the sheeple to the consequences of voting for Socialism.

And personally, every time I’d get in front of the media instead of rejecting the “party of the rich” meme, I’d embrace it. I’d blast those reporters with…

“Of course we’re the party of the rich and successful! We want everyone to have the opportunity to be rich and successful! What you do you think we are? Democrats who like their serfs on plantations? Freedom is a GREAT thing! Being successful is a GREAT thing! Why do YOU (pointing to reporter) think it’s a bad thing? Don’t YOU think YOU should be rewarded better than those who haven’t achieved your success yet?”

Turn the tables and put them on the defense!

The liberals are so gung ho on taxes because they can only deal in simple math… that tax increases always result in revenue.

So here’s what we do…

We pass a bill authorizing the tax increases, but with a rider… if the tax increase fails to raise the predicted tax revenue, automatic budget cuts go into effect for the difference between projected revenue and actual revenue change.

That way if Obama wants an $80 billion tax change… give it… knowing that if it doesn’t work, an actual cut for that amount will go in! For example, if the tax hike on the rich projected for +$80 billion actually causes tax revenue to drop lets say -$100 billion, then automatic budget cuts of across the board $180 billion go into effect! It will make the liberals much more serious about taxes, and put the focus on whether tax rate changes increase or decrease the real tax revenue!

The only problem is how to track revenue changes to individual tax laws. But if this could be done to EVERY tax rate change…

CAVING!

Isnt this exactly what happened to Bush 1? He said “read my lips” and then cut a deal only to be stabbed in the back on cuts and bludgened to death with breaking his pledge during his reelection?

I am not so sure Obama wants it to be over..with the media kissing his behind all the way he is having fun with this. That says something for his character, or lack thereof.

Too bad the Republicans do not have the Senate…if they had managed that they would be in a much stronger position right now. But as it is, they simply do not have the votes to get what they want..and I honestly do not believe that Obama gives a rat’s ass if we go off that cliff…a ruined economy and higher taxes and he could care less. But we know who will pay. The GOP has become the heavy in these scenarios. The bad rich guy.

Raul Labrador said today that he’d consider more tax revenue too — as part of a three-to-one cuts-to-taxes deal, which the White House isn’t remotely interested in.

Amen…where do I sign to support that? Tax the liberal 1% hard and cut spending 3-to-1.

Why is it that our leaders have become so beholden to the media and so-called opinion polls? Did the Dems care much that popular opinion was heavily weighted against them when they were passing Obamacare? Nope. They were willing to absorb their losses (temporary) in order to advance their ideology.

Stop conflating “more revenue” with “higher taxes.” They are not the same thing.

Contrary to the media spin, which has become conventional wisdom™, the GOP has a stronger hand than anyone is letting on IF ONLY they will cease operating from a political viewpoint and rather act based on principles.

Where are the intellectual heavyweights of the party? Can’t we put together a bill that reforms the tax code and deals with spending cuts? Let us quit playing the Democrats’ game of “raise taxes on the middle class or cut grandma’s paycheck”.

1. Across-the-board cuts and let Obama and his government figure out where to downsize. The government is already bloated as is.

2. Reform the tax code. Lower rates and broaden the tax base. Let everyone have skin in the game. Flat tax, anyone?

I say “theoretically” because their leverage depends not only on being willing to hit the debt ceiling this time if Obama balks at deep entitlement cuts but being willing to identify specific cuts which the Democrats will then spend weeks demagoging as part of another bout of Mediscare.

This is why, from a PR perspective, an across the board 10% cut works the best. After that, current seniors and soon to be seniors will be more than willing to take a good look at long term solutions so long as they are grandfathered into the old system.
