I say Republicans reverse course and embrace it by pointing out that PEOPLE ARE RICH BECAUSE THEY ARE SUCCESSFUL! And of course we want everyone to be successful! Now ask why the Democrats are against success…

The Democrats have engrained the idea that we are the party of the rich, and that they are against us, for so long they’ll never be able to shake it! So maybe we should just go with it

Whatever bill is submitted, Obama has to sign it.

He has indicated he wants one and only one thing from the Right, a tax on the rich. Obama knows that is not good for the economy. That is the point.

As Rush said, if the GOP signs on to taxing the rich, it means they were lying when they said taxing the rich was bad. So the GOP loses credibility, and the nation heads to Greece. Both good for obama

1. The Cliff has already passed both houses and been signed by Obama.

2. Rand’s proposal would pass and also be signed by Obama

Personally, I would submit an unemployment extension now. Call it the GOP unemployment extension. Send it to Obama and spend 24 hrs a day arguing this first, nothing second. No one cares anyway. Get some points

The problem is that in January Obama and the Dems will propose cutting taxes on everyone below 200/250. Then what? If the GOP fights it, they will never be able to shake the party of the rich label. If they go along, then the tax hikes do nothing to help the debt, except perhaps to make it worse by slowing the economy and reducing overall government tax receipts.

1. I think you might be confused. What Obama has called for is making the Bush tax cuts permanent for those people making less than $250k. That is the one point where left and right concur. The hold up now is all the other taxes Obama wants to raise and the increase in spending he has proposed.

2. The Bush tax cuts expire Dec. 31, without action by anyone. Thus rates on everyone will jump on that date. For a quick itemization, see here.

3. I know of no additional “tax cuts” anyone on the left has proposed. Nor can I see Republicans opposing them if Obama did propose them, given the fiscal conservative belief that more money in the private economy means more growth. To the contrary, I would imagine Republicans would support any such move, though it will never occur.

Except the lesson they took from 2010 was to marginalize and co-opt the Tea Party, refuse to hold firm on the debt ceiling, go with Mr Romneycare as a candidate, expel conservatives from positions of power, refuse to have Palin, Ron Paul, or the Tea Party involved in the recent election, and are currently proposing amnesty.

Regarding Rand Paul’s suggestion, we can’t forget he’s not the Speaker of the House. Boehner and his egos (Cantor/McCarthy) won’t do anything that is in the American people’s interest. It’s all about them and what deal they can make in order to stay in office/power.

Even if Boehner would put up what Rand Paul suggests, do you think the Dems would vote yes?

C’mon Ed. Joel Grey’s portrayal of Sinanju Master Chiun is worth the price of admission and earned a Golden Globe nom. The scene where he meets Major Fleming (Kate Mulgrew) and tells her “Women should stay home and make babies. Preferably man-child.” is priceless. Fred Ward does a nice job in the title role. The movie is entertaining so long as you realize it is pulp fiction transposed to the screen.

As for Rand Paul’s plan, it seems perfectly reasonable to me. Obama and the Democrats have chosen to make government policy a function of their political narrative and theater. If Republicans fail to take the stage, the story will be written by the foolish and the corrupt. If they do take the stage, at least we will hear foolishness and corruption from a different perspective. If we are fortunate, they may succeed in pinning responsibility for the inevitable on those who are responsible for it, despite the best efforts of Democrats and the MSM to blame Republicans.
