I believe that it is. No one running for office is compelled to disclose any of their health history or any health issues they may even currently be dealing with. Just because Christie’s size is obvious, doesn’t mean his weight has become fair game for him to be questioned about or that he is now required to discuss it. He is still afforded the same right to privacy about his health as any other potential candidate. Why is Walters pointing out what is completely apparent? I don’t see any good reason.

To win the campaign? Absolutely. Not that he’d ever win the GOP primary anyway…

The fact is that, politics aside, many people have concerns about his obesity. These are legitimate concerns. This is not an unfair issue to raise. Asking the question provides Christie with a fair opportunity to address the concerns.

I don’t like Barbara Walters. But her question was totally fair. I mean, really, do we all have to pretend like Chris Christie isn’t morbidly obese? How would Christie’s extreme obesity affect a potential Christie presidency?

If bringing up these kinds of issues offends obese people or Chris Christie himself, then too darn bad. Obese people are fat because of their own actions. Nobody stuffed the mashed potatoes and Twinkies in their mouths. They did it themselves. So why should we have to dance around legitimate issues such as this in order to avoid potentially hurting some people’s feelings?

Not exactly the sensitive type are you?
Does Christie need anyone to tell him he has a weight issue?
Does the public need Barbara Walters or anyone else to point out to us that Christie is fat? It’s not exactly a revelation to any of us, is it? Last time I checked, there is no requirement for someone who is running for public office to reveal their health records. Candidates still have privacy rights, and Lord knows we could do with a little less mudslinging and a little more civility in our elections. Walters is being a boor…and so are you.

Chris Christie is morbidly obese. He is not merely overweight. There are all kinds of health problems associated with extreme obesity. People are right to ask about his physical health. When we evaluate candidates, one of the things we look at is their physical fitness to carry out the duties of the public office. When a candidate is at a particularly high risk of suffering a serious heart attack, for example, I think voters have a legitimate reason to feel concerned.

Well Christie is sure big enough to hold the job down. He would never spread himself too thin. No one could go around him. Would the duties of job weigh too heavy on him? Maybe but for sure no one could grind him down.

I’m a fairly socially moderate R girl. For instance, I have no problem with gay marriage. But I have a problem with what Chris Christie did with Obama after Sandy. It went way beyond a simple thank you and the cynic in me thinks that Christie was told if he did this for Obama he’d.. wink, wink get helped out with media attention and Barry’s indifference toward the NJ Gov. Race. There are better candidates for President.. Ryan and Rubio.. who didn’t spend time french kissing Obama.

I do see your point, but if the conservative media doesn’t like what Christie did, they should’ve just ignored it and overlooked Christie as a contender for 2016. (In other words, don’t pay attention to a guy you have no use for.) However, once the conservative pundits start piling on with criticism, that ends up emboldening the GOP establishment and the leftist media/Democrat party – all of whom love to ram their preferred candidates down our throats.

Ryan? I’d hardly call him a conservative, especially when it comes to fiscal issues – his supposed strong-suit. Ryan is a good man and would be a great candidate if his record didn’t look so much like a Democrat’s. It’s just my opinion, but records are more important to me than anything else: looks, behavior, family, friends, and so on.

Rubio? Absolutely. Sign me up, he seems to be the best option out there for 2016.

Walters: Bawak, are you too stupid to be pwesident?
