“Liberalized normal muslim” is an oxymoron. To be a liberal in the Western classical sense, you cannot be ANY kind of muslim. Islam is not compatible with liberalism.

Funny though, re-defined “liberals” always seem to end up on side of the most rabid Muslims. They have some theological differences (including such niggling details as gay marriage and… everything else) but their strategy is the same: unite the world under one leader by endlessly exploiting of the tolerance and generosity of others.

Ditto ‘moderate muslim’.

Mark Stein said it best: there are lots and lots of moderate MUSLIMS; the same as there were lots and lots of moderate Nazis and Communists (i.e., the people who now perversely refer to themselves as “liberals.”)

But there is no such thing as moderate ISLAM, any more than there could ever be such a thing as moderate Naziism or moderate Communism. Any belief system that has the goal of world domination will always be an extremist theology. A few of its followers may be more energetic than others; some are operatives and others are propagandists; but they’re all rowing the same boat in the same direction.

Think about, support, and pray for these protestors. These are liberalized normal MUSLIMS taking on Islamists in their own country. It’s the right thing to do.

Most dictators claim to be “democratically elected” these days. It’s sort of like how Communists now refer to themselves as “liberals.”

Like it says in the book 1984; these people aren’t exactly heavy into the whole honesty thing.

At what point, precisely, does one become a dictator? Even one who was freely and democratically voted into office by the people now being oppressed?

Lots of dictators over the years were duly and properly elected.

That’s not my point. My point is that we can tell the self-appointed dictator we supported for decades it’s time to go, but we can’t tell the voted-by-the-people Morsi to step down.

When protests began in early 2011 against Mubarak, it took Obama eight days to demand that the longtime US ally remove himself from office. It’s been 13 days for Morsi, and Obama can’t even bring himself to openly criticize Morsi’s decrees on a sustained basis, nor the White House to specifically mention them.
