If we go off the fiscal cliff, here is what every conservative needs to do:

(1) Call your congressman or congresswoman and demand that a proposal be put forward to (A) tax all University and College Endowments over $4 billion at the capital gains rate; (B) force all faculty and staff at colleges and universities to pay income taxes on all the benefits and perks they receive for free (i.e., free tuition for their kids, membership at state of the art business centers, all expense paid trips overseas for conferences, sabbaticals, etc., etc.); and (C) tax all income received by a college or university for any services provided in our economy not related to education.

(2) Any pledge you have made to your university or alma mater - if it is a liberal institution (which is practically all of them) - cancel it. If you have a charitable donation in your will or trust, amend the will or trust and eliminate it. Then let the college or university know why.

(3) If you have ever made a pledge to PBS or any other "non-profit" that leans liberal (i.e., your local museum, your local botanical garden, etc.), cancel it or stop the pledge and let them know whey.

(4) If you are in any way supporting your kids who voted for Obama and they are of the age to get a job (even a job at McDonalds), stop supporting them. Let them get their own insurance. Let them pay their own bills. Let them have taxes taken out of their paychecks. Kick them out of your homes and make them pay rent and live like adults - and let them know why.

(5) If you are subscribing to any national newspaper that leans left - New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, etc. - cancel it and let them know why.

(6) Support your local and national conservative organizations, and let them know why.

In this age of data gathering, every single one of these organizations will record your reasons for doing what you do. That is why you need to let them know WHY!

Oh, dear. This is beyond delusional and out of touch. Reminiscent of his absurd “doing just fine” and “headwinds!” comments, President Obama today said that the economy is totally “poised to take off,” during an interview with Bloomberg White House correspondent Julianna Goldman.

Also, metaphors are hard.

States need to look for respite in the 10th Amendment. I for one hope Perry cuts so many benefits to keep the budget balanced it drives our moochers out. Even the dragworms on Guadelupe Street in Austin need to feel this. Most folks here either have family roots that extend out to farml and ranchland or moved here to work. Those that can't rely on their backs and families need to move along for awhile.

School vouchers immediately. Cuts, cuts, cuts are in order just to drive out the takers and reduce costs for those that have earned their wealth and want to remain viable.

The cities must face the pension reality they are ignoring in order to keep the state viable.

In addition to turning functions over to the private sector many legitimate government functions can be returned to the states. We absolutely must return to federalism and fealty to the 10th Amendment.

If Liberals want to drive themselves over the financial cliff, let them do so with their own states and not drag the rest of us with them.

The states need to seize back their rightful peers and stop acting like subordinates to the federal government.

The federal government should have ZERO power over states yet they regularly use/abuse federal government money to bribe and cajole states.

Why should any state depend on federal money? How about the states have their citizens remit federal taxes to the federal government via a state office. Then states can just keep what would ordinarily be returned with strings attached.
