All this talk about should they fight for their principles brought to mind a speech from one of my favorite movies.
Braveheart...
Wallace: Sons of Scotland, I am William Wallace.

Young soldier: William Wallace is 7 feet tall.

Wallace: Yes, I've heard. Kills men by the hundreds, and if he were here he'd consume the English with fireballs from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his arse. I AM William Wallace. And I see a whole army of my countrymen here in defiance of tyranny. You have come to fight as free men, and free men you are. What would you do without freedom? Will you fight?

Veteran <strike>soldier</strike> Congressman: Fight? Against that? No, we will<strike> run</strike> vote present; and we will live.

Wallace: Aye, fight and you may die. Run and you'll live -- at least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom!!!

Wallace and Soldiers: Alba gu bra! (Scotland forever!)

It is absolutely no wonder Obama beats these guys all the time. How long have the Democrats been calling the present tax rates, "Bush's tax cuts for the rich."? Well, let's see the "Bush tax cuts for the "rich" expire after the first of the year and then let the Democrats explain how come taxes for the middle class are going up.

I agree. It would be good to know which ones we need to work against, good point. From what I've heard Boehner purging the Conservatives (see my post above), they may not be able to keep their members together.

2014 elections are going to be difficult since we have the Dems & the GOP against Tea Party/Conservative Candidates.

Voting "Present" does not give the House Republicans cover. It would be passing the tax increases by a different means, but affimatively choosing to pass it, nonetheless.

The House Republicans have the ability to stop this, if they can keep their coalition together. If the coalition spits, so be it. Better to know who we want to trust in 2014 so we can start getting to work on the others.

If they vote to give cover to their weak sisters by all voting "Present", it means we can trust none of them. Which is useful information, too. It just means we have a lot more work to do for 2014 primaries.

Far too many in the GOP are only thinking of themselves and their positions, not the Country. Guess they don't understand if the Country goes down, so do they. They really need to wake up and realize who the enemy really is. Guess it's hard to do when they are blinded by greed and power. They should look at history and see the end of those that ruled by those two vices.

This has been suggested before. Do you really think the Dems will vote for a bill that they know the R's will vote present on? I don't since they aren't as stupid as the R's. Reid won't agree anyway. Just my opinion.

Mark Levin said Boehner is negotiating with himself again. So true.
Said he's also purging more Conservatives in the House...details to follow he said. He may mean they are not getting any Committee assignments, just a guess.

<blockquote>Folks, no matter what happens the LSM will make sure to endlessly repeat the cliff diving was the GOP’s fault. Then all those people who allegedly don’t listen to the news (but voted for obama) will blame the GOP.

The blame of the state of our Country lies at the feet of the Media. Had they done their job in 2007/2008, we would never be where we are. Andrew Breitbart knew this and fought the good fight.

Yes, the Media will continually blame the GOP, but so what is new?
At least the GOP could grow a spine for a change and get blamed for something for the good of the Country for a change. All they have done is caved and haven't figured out they still get blamed. Change course, wimps!!

Great point, LOL The Tea Party was never given the credit we deserved for the 2010 election. Many of the Establishment Republicans worked against the T.P. then and still do and any Conservative as well.

Where was the T.P. at the Republican Convention? I don't think they were even mentioned from what I saw & heard.

Hard to win a race when you have to run against the Dems & your own Party. Sarah Palin knows all about that above all of them.

Going to listen to Mark Levin...
