Pelosi: Of course I support giving Obama “unilateral control” to hike the debt ceiling

posted at 5:11 pm on November 30, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

Of course she does, didn’t even have to think about it — because who even cares about a silly ol’ self-imposed restriction like a ‘debt ceiling,’ anyway?

During a press conference today, House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi signaled that she supported “unilateral control” for the President over the country’s debt limit.

“Do you support President Obama having the power to unilaterally increase the debt limit as Secretary Geithner proposed?” asked a reporter.

“Yes.” Pelosi answered shortly.

Enough with these misdirecting “debt ceiling” excuses already. I understand what liberals and Obama administrators mean when they say it’s irresponsible to gamble with our debt ceiling and risk a credit downgrade, because what the market looks for is a reliable, long-term security that the national balance sheet will eventually get to a stable place. But, with that in mind, they conveniently forget to mention that what is infinitely more irresponsible is that we have even gotten to the point of having to gamble with our debt ceiling. Our debt, not the debt ceiling, is the primary issue — and it’s an issue about which Democrats don’t really concern themselves, as if just spending into infinity poses no real problem. I mean, sure, it’d be great to prevent future debt-ceiling crises, so how’s about we actually try and reduce our debt?

The proposed negotiation package Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner presented yesterday included an end to the debt limit, which Republicans categorically laughed off. How long can this madness go on?

Umm – Something about this is how liberty dies, among applause. the irony being I know many Democrats who’d be frothing at the mouth were a Republican pulling this. But since Obama is so special he gets to have all the power he wants.

I’ve figured out the Dimocrats newest strategery to avoid prosecution:

First they send Nanzi Pelosi to quack Jocelyn Elders for a dartboard “diagnosis”. Baby Doc Elders writes out a diagnosis of bipolar, schizophrenia, bonkers… whatever. The Dimocrats send the records to Hawaii’s governor where he carefully Photoshops Jesse Jackson Jr.’s name etc. onto the forms.

Does Pelosi or Geithner realize that turning over the debt limit to the executive branch of the government would be unconstitutional?

Someone in that press briefing should have quoted the constitution to Pelosi and asked her how to write such a law.

This is one of those cases where EVERY US citizen would have standing to challenge that law.

… Well, what if this ‘unilateral control’ issue is their way of getting the idea that Oblahblah is the only one who can fix things into the ‘Pop Culture’?

Once that is accepted as the meme of the day and everyone is OK with it, then it will be time for the other shoe to drop…

… Probably right after his inauguration after he gets back from Hawaii.

Yep, the ‘Lord and Savior’ will just have to take control of everything because “it’s the right thing ta do!”…

… and the people who voted for him will stand up and cheer.

Remember, the Left does not give up power, ever…

… It can only be taken away, usually by force, and a lot of blood on the floor.

Anyway, something to think about…

And until journalists start asking him the tough questions or demand that he hold a press conference to atone for the dismal state of the economy and unemployment, much less hold him or his cabinet accountable for their incompetence and come clean on what he knows about Benghazi, he’ll go on his merry way and campaign some more.

I’ve read too much history.

I admit it. I’m scared. I prepared as best I could. It’s not enough.

I know where populist movements lead. “great” leaders that had visions that couldn’t be bothered with the slow mechanics of rule of law. So they took thier message to “the people”. But not all the people. You divide them up first. Unite groups of them, use them, but in the end only one group is left standing. Historical comparisons to germany, italy, and the kmer rouge.

Whether on purpose or not, the end result is the same, these scum are destroying my once great country and I… well, I’ll just say it, “I hate them for it.” So much so I can’t even stand the sound of their voices. I can’t watch the linked video and any time Obama is on TV now, I change the channel or turn it off and look for info about what nonsense spewed from his hole here at Hot Air and a couple other sites.

I don’t like feeling that way about people but their actions brought about this emotion.

Gold was an objective value, an equivalent of wealth produced. Paper is a mortgage on wealth that does not exist, backed by a gun aimed at those who are expected to produce it. With no debt limit, the government can sell all the T-Bills it wants. As there is no longer enough demand for US Treasuries, most of the bills are bought by the US itself with in essence money created out of thin air. This great increase in the dollars floating around eventually devalues the savings of anyone with wealth. Thus, this is a policy of redistribution outside the tax code and much more stealthy. The wealth of those who have built and saved is ravaged to provide more dollars for the progressive left administration to buy support from those who do not build and save. Eventually, this means inflation when the world economy revives and the velocity of money increases. Whether it reaches Weimer Republic levels of inflation will depend on whether we cap the amount of debt we allow.

Pass Simpson Boles and refuse to raise the debt ceiling until the Dems accept something in line with it. Otherwise investors will lose confidence in the US. If the government shuts down until the 2014 elections, we will see how much of it we can live without. It is not like Federal employees tend to vote GOP so the Dems will be hurting their own.
