Obama: We’re going to have a really “Scrooge Christmas” if Congress doesn’t do what I want

posted at 4:21 pm on November 30, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

Do you think the President maybe kind of misses campaigning? Because, instead of actually just sitting down, maybe locking himself in a room with other top lawmakers, and doing the tough work of negotiating out a fiscal-cliff compromise, President Obama is going back to doing what he does best. Turning to his supporters to try and concentrate public pressure on Washington to get a deal made, the president made a very campaign-style stop at the K’NEX factory in Philadelphia.

“This is not some run-of-the-mill debate. This isn’t about which political party can come out on top in negotiations. We’ve got important decisions to make that are going to have a real impact on businesses and families all across the country,” the president said.

“I’ve been keeping my own naughty and nice lists for Washington. So you should keep your eye on who gets K’NEX this year,” he quipped. “There are going to be some members of Congress who get them, and some who don’t.” One day after the fiscal cliff talks between the White House and House Republicans took a turn for the worse, the president admitted there are going to be “some prolonged negotiations” to get the deficit under control because “you know, in Washington, nothing’s easy.”

“We’ve got some disagreements about the high-end tax cuts, right?” he said of his insistence on raising taxes on the top 2 percent as part of a broader deficit reduction deal. “That’s a disagreement that we’re going to have and we’ve got to sort out. But we already all agree, we say, on making sure middle-class taxes don’t go up. So let’s get that done. Let’s go ahead and take the fear out for the vast majority of American families so that they don’t have to worry about $2,000 coming out of their pockets starting next year.”

I’m not sure how doing the exact same thing the president has been doing for months (years, really) is supposed to help the situation move along, but it’s okay, because he’s got his aides back in Washington on the case — making laughable proposals like $1.6 trillion in new taxes and an end to the debt ceiling, in exchange for… promising to talk about entitlements later. Yes, because a promise to ‘talk about it later’ has such a great track record at problem-solving with the federal government.

Just after the president’s appearance, House Speaker John Boehner gave his take on the situation, the nutshell version of which is: Stasis. So much stasis. Via the NYT:

“There’s a stalemate. Let’s not kid ourselves,” he said. I’m not trying to make this more difficult. If you’ve watched me in the last three weeks I have been very guarded in what I have to say. I don’t want to make it harder for me or the president or members of both parties to be able to find common ground.”

“Right now, we’re almost nowhere,” he concluded.

Mr. Boehner also declared Mr. Obama’s plan unacceptable. But he did not offer a counterproposal. Instead, he decried what he called a lack of seriousness and leadership on the part of the president.

“Republicans are not seeking to impose our will on the president. We are seeking a bipartisan solution that can pass both houses of Congress and can be signed into law by the president in the coming days,” he said.

Obama is not negotiating on anything.
He is saying my way or nothing.
All he wants is higher tax rates on the top earners. NOTHING ELSE.

Can someone please tell me if I have this right? Obama already spends $1 trillion more than we have every single year. The tax hikes on the “rich” Obama wants willl bring in only about $50 billion more/year. (assuming best case scenario).

So to balance the budget, even with his ‘tax the rich’ plan, Obama would still have to come up with another $950 billion every year or cut $950 b. in spending. He has no plan on how to do that, and instead proposes that he should spend more money?

I need a white board.

So far as I can see, it is the principal cause of the liberty and independence still visible today in the world and, though less rigid than of old, its remaining restraints on a nation’s ruler are in my opinion to be hatred, and I therefore regard it as a form of decadence rather than a form of progress.” (Emperor for Life, Barack Hussein Louie Obama)

Well, Obama’s just as qualified to be Pope as he is to be President, isn’t he? However, instead of running for the Papal office, why not just declare himself Pope. Why should “The One” be bothered with insignificant details such as procedures, rules, laws or elections? (Or waiting for the passing of the current Pope.)

But, really, would the Papal position be enough? You know, the Pope doesn’t get to play golf much (if at all) and he actually lives a very frugal life in spite of being surrounded by the vast wealth of the Church. No Kobe beef banquets. Limited drinking. No lavish parties. No vacations. Very limited wardrobe. (Yes, it’s quite fancy, but really!!) Then there’s the constant study, prayer and humility thing. And don’t forget the chastity thing and the respect for life thing. Then we have to compare Air Force One, Marine One, and the Presidential limo vs the Pope-mobile. Or, the Secret Service vs the Swiss Guard (Okay, maybe the Swiss Guard gets this one. But, remember, they aren’t trained in covering for a fraud or usurper or in betraying their Church.)

Why not jump straight to “Supreme Emperor of the World”? From this position Obama could command all of the States and Churches of the world and still get in some golf. Then, if he were to become God……

The cost of flying Air Force One for two trips to Hawaii instead of one, should have this president hurrying to get down to business, rather than dragging his feet.

The Obama Hawaiian Christmas Vacation: $4 million. I think if Obama can’t come to the table he should just spend his Christmas at home in Chicago. Maybe he can help out in a soup kitchen or mentor fatherless young boys living just outside his neighborhood. You hardly ever see the Obama’s out “giving” at Christmas…you know the homeless shelters need toys and the EBT card holders need holiday meals because they can’t afford the extras. Even good liberals in Boston “Give BAck” and then go skiing for god’s sake. But not the Obama’s they let other people take care of that for them, they get a pass. Overindulgent Government Officials. I remember what I thought when I heard that Nancy Pelosi had to have her own plane to ride to CA on and they had to keep the bar stocked with Grey Goose Vodka, not the house brand, but the best!
I wonder if Mrs. Pelosi goes to the homeless shelter for photo ops spooning Sugar Plum Pudding and Wassail?

Obama is going to have a Scrooge Christmas if he holds up the plane or has to make two trips. Because we are going to add up the cost and chirp about it.

Here is what I want: (notice that there is no $250K tax bracket)

Give Obama his increased tax on the top two percent in exchange for this marginal tax schedule:

Married Filing Jointly Single
10% Bracket $0 – $17,400 $0 – $8,700
15% Bracket $17,400 – $70,700 $8,700 – $35,350
15% Bracket $70,700 – $142,700 $35,350 – $85,650
15% Bracket $142,700 – $217,450 $85,650 – $178,650
15% Bracket $217,450 – $388,350 $178,650 – $388,350
39% Bracket Over $388,350 Over $388,350

Forbes.

This gives Obama his precious promise to raise taxes, and it guts marginal taxes, and the american idol watching public will not know that the marginal taxes in the middle go to the rich too. AND we can all give the middle class a tax break for Christmas. And it is Christmas time Barach, I don’t want to hear about “Payin for it!”

Our Dear Leader, King Barack Hussein Louie Obama, will be a great Emperor for Life as he is a very highly educated man. He went to University where he was well schooled in bigotry and allegations, of course, to begin with, and then the different branches of arithmetic: ambition, distraction, falsification and derision. Trust him. He knows what he is doing. Just be patient. His economic plan will work perfectly. I have worked it all out mathematically. Let me see now, four million times five million is twelve million, and four billion times six billion is thirteen billion, and four trillion times seven trillion is … … oh my! We shall never get to economic recovery and prosperity at that rate! However, the multiplication table doesn’t really apply. Let’s try geography. Iraq borders Pakistan, the center of the Universe was Iraq but now it’s Afghanistan, America has 57 states, Minnesota is in the tropics because of Global Warming. No, that’s all wrong, but geography doesn’t really apply either, I’m certain! Let’s try religion. The Mossad was behind 9/11, Palestinians are victims, Saudi Arabia is our good friend and Islam is a great religion of peace. No, that’s all wrong too! Maybe if our Dear Leader just starts over and this time he reads the directions then perhaps directly he will be able to direct himself in the right direction to the place he rightly belongs.

Democrats are more hopeful than Republicans that a deal will be struck.

Should there be no agreement, there is a lot of blame to go around. About half the public (51%) would blame Republicans in Congress, and 43% would blame the President. Democrats, who are a minority in the House of Representatives, and are short of a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, are seen as less responsible: just 34% would blame them.

What has the Senate, strangely in Democrat control, done for the past four years. We know they haven’t passed a budget. Can anyone name a major piece of legislation since PPACA/Obamacare was rammed through?

Now suddenly, the most powerful man in the world, our President, is relegated once again to blaming others for his failures. From a toy company of all places.

Shouldn’t the President be sitting down every day with congressional leaders to solve this crisis? That is, instead of campaigning like some type of outsider to the process and planning his extravagant Christmas vacation?

This is not what leadership looks like. It is a tyrant wearing shoes which are far to big for him to fill.

If the GOP makes “a deal”, they’re taking responsibility for the disaster coming. Not part of the responsibility, not shared responsibility, but ALL the responsibility. Everyone knows we are in deep fiscal doodoo, even Omarxa, so if the Repubs play along with the Dems in making any sort of a deal, he will blame them for the chaos upcoming. If only, he will say, Repubs hadn’t “negotiated” but instead done what Geithner and all his “experts” wanted we woukd have economic paradise. Instead we have a looming depression. The Republicans are at fault.

He will go on to say that he’s going to think hard about the problem while he’s in Hawaii, and hopes to figure out a way to save a few people, though America must realize it can only be a few. Most of the productive class will be left to save themselves, which is what they deserve after getting so fat while the country was governed by Republicans.

“This is not some run-of-the-mill debate. This isn’t about which political party can come out on top in negotiations. We’ve got important decisions to make that are going to have a real impact on businesses and families all across the country,” the president said.

Whenever Jugears says it isn’t about which political party can come out on top in the negotiations, you can bet your bottom dollar that with him, it is about who can come out on top in negotiations and that it is going to be the democrats.

“I’ve been keeping my own naughty and nice lists for Washington. So you should keep your eye on who gets K’NEX this year,” he quipped. “There are going to be some members of Congress who get them, and some who don’t.”

You know, that sounds vaguely threatening. Imagine if Nixon had made such a statement. Can you imagine the mushroom clouds from the media? If W had made such a statement, this would have been above the fold full out “dictatorial, imperial presidency” for weeks on end. Jugears says it? The MSM and democrats (but I repeat myself) either don’t cover it or are fully in support of the “president being a tough negotiator”.

Wow, the Bush tax cuts that the dems only said would be about $200 (enough for a muffler) are now $2000 for a family. How did that happen? Oh. A democrat now wants those rates, so the truth must now be told.

So, let’s get that done. Yeah, let’s agree to my part of the deal. We’ll get to your part. Later. Sometime. After you’ve given up any leverage. But yeah, trust me. We’ll talk about why you think increasing taxes on those who invest in the economy is a bad idea. At some point in the future. But now, let’s get what I want done. Then I’ll think about probably deciding about looking for some time in the future to maybe set a date to possibly discuss your wishes. Maybe. If I’m not too busy.

/Yeah, he really thinks the Republicans are chumps. Given the track history from Boehner, he may be right. … and Jugears’s stenographers in the press will continue to cover for him.

Let it burn?

Republicans are the firefighters, and Obama has the gas.

Oh Dear God, give this idiot his own television show so he can bask in the lights and the sound of his own screechy voice.

He is not fit for anything other than script reading.

Bully Pulpit and a Prompter

The Thug in Chief, an utter narcissist, suffering clinically of NPD, has all he’s got.

What an effing Idiot.

Hey Prezzie, don’t look now but your girl Hill is
quickly exiting the Obama bandwagon to position
herself as a Moderate who is “concerned” about
the Fiscal Cliff being a national security issue.

ToddPA on November 30, 2012 at 5:03 PM

The once free, and now utterly stupid, land deserves Obama, in full.

Full destruction of all who brung him!

This is an arrogant impertinent swine.

I’ve been keeping my own naughty and nice lists for Washington. So you should keep your eye on who gets K’NEX this year,” he quipped. “There are going to be some members of Congress who get them, and some who don’t.”

K’Nex makes attack drones?

After he defunds the military, that is all that they will be able to construct them from.

If you have real balls, you quit supporting Costco.

That includes you Ann Romney.

I take it you haven’t been in a toy store in a while. Military grade titanium might actually be cheaper than the average K’Nex set.

The problem is O doesn’t think he’s run out of ‘other people’s money’ yet.

I wonder how many Mao ornaments will adorn the HA shrub this year. Doubt he’ll bother with an actual Christmas tree. No need to continue that particular taqiyya any longer. But he does like the holiday vacay the infidels provide.

When was the last time that any serious words came out of 0bama’s mouth?

Seriously. I just want to throttle the guy. He is a total f**king joke. Here we are facing some of the worst economic conditions in any of our lifetimes, and he’s out on the campaign trail… three weeks after winning an election.

One month from now, everyone in the country – everyone – is going to see their taxes go through the roof overnight, and he’s out goofing around. And no matter what the outcome, he’s going to be on a lavish, taxpayer-funded Hawaiian vacation January 2.

He’s a joke. A bad f**king joke.

I better stop now before I write something that will bring the Secret Service to my home tonight to drag me away, never to be heard from again.

UltimateBob on November 30, 2012 at 5:16 PM

So not only do I want to ‘let it burn’, I want to help it. Wonder where someone who’s never been interested in getting anything out of the government would start if they wanted to start bleeding it dry for their own benefit?

Midas on November 30, 2012 at 5:16 PM

Has it been four more years yet?

Hah! What? Seven more weeks to conclude Barry’s first term, and four, very long, years to go with TEH WON in the WH, if we survive all of ‘em it’ll be a miracle.

Projection. That’s accusing others of what you’re guilty of.

Go. over. the. cliff.

rbj on November 30, 2012 at 4:27 PM

We need to stop repeating this obvious BS. Whether taxes go up for some or not, we are still going in that same direction at this point. There is no “fiscal cliff”, we’re there already, been there for the past few years.

Sequestration will actually slow down the descent at this point. Bring it on.

Unemployment benefits will end for 25,000 here in NV come January 1st. I am guessing that 20,000 of those will go back home to Mexico. A great thing in my book.

Bring it on.

Don’t forget to load up a shopping cart with heavy stuff that you’re not really going to buy. Then as you push it around while getting free samples, you’re also getting some exercise – losing even *more* weight! And you’ll be better conditioned to outrun the zombies when the apocalypse starts!

Midas on November 30, 2012 at 5:21 PM

Let it BURN!!! Pour gasoline on it! Pubs are useless anyhow. When it all collapses, a new party will emerge to fix this crap sandwich we have been fed by both parties. Collapse it sooner rather than later.
