WH: Obama’s “not particularly concerned” about whether Rice misled the public

posted at 6:01 pm on November 28, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

In response to a question from Major Garrett on whether or not the Obama administration’s decidedly botched handling of the 9/11/12 attack in Benghazi has raised “core questions of basic competency,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney responded that, why no, President Obama isn’t particularly concerned about whether or not the American people were fed a politically convenient and absolutely false string of misinformation.

What the president is worried about, Major, is what happened and why in Benghazi. He is not particularly concerned about whether the ambassador or I went out and talked about the fact that we believed extremists might have been responsible. And whether we named them as al Qaeda or not does not–no, it certainly doesn’t have any bearing on what happened and who was responsible as that investigation was continuing on Benghazi.

So, let’s just be clear about this: President Obama does not find it of especial import that somebody, cough cough, armed Amb. Susan Rice with talking points that were so wedded to the very dodgy explanation of a spontaneous protest that just happened to fit the White House’s preferred foreign-policy narrative ahead of a tough election fight, for which the most likely explanation is either utter incompetence or deliberate lying?

Odd.

Hey, remember that one time when the president was most definitely concerned about how Mitt Romney supposedly jumped the gun in criticizing the Obama administration for the Benghazi attack? The president was sure as heck interested in the “he said, she said” side of it all when that little ol’ mishap first went down — oh, how the times have changed.

White House declines to release images from night of Benghazi attacks
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57553090/white-house-declines-to-release-images-from-night-of-benghazi-attacks/?tag=socsh

At a press conference on Nov. 14, 2012 President Obama stated that his Administration has provided all information regarding “what happened in Benghazi.”

“We have provided every bit of information that we have, and we will continue to provide information…,” the President told reporters, adding, “we will provide all the information that is available about what happened on that day…” and “I will put forward every bit of information that we have.”

In addition to the Benghazi images, CBS News has also requested, but not received, details concerning the president’s and his staff’s decisions during the attacks. Last year reporters were given details of the decision making, timeline and players regarding the Osama bin Laden raid as well as access to certain emails.

CBS News is also seeking drone and ground-level surveillance images and email communications and documents from the night of the Benghazi attacks. So far, none has been provided.

I have a question about the White House press corpses:

When they hear this kind of stuff, do they just sit there with their mouths open, drool dribbling out of the side of their mouth like some half dead lobotomized zombies?

Or….are they just too busy surfing porn on their smart phones?

We might be learning more about the crony part of Crony Capitalism. Out here in the transformed, this is just what things are going to be like from now on (should the transformation be permanent). If the wrong person accidentally kills someone by running over them multiple times, they go to jail. If the right person does it, it’s just an accident, and making a big stink about it is being divisive (or whatever).

Way, way beyond the media “giving cover,” well into not even pretending anymore.

Obama is for all intents and purposes a soft handed dictator. We only have the veneer of a Republic, and have had for awhile.

….and hey who can blame him the gop doesn’t deserve to ever regain power again. They ceased to be an effective opposition party when Bush 43 went all mute to “change the tone” in DC.

The Bush family sucessfully castrated the republican Party starting in 1988 and Reagan gets the blame for that.

Obama deserves to wield the power he has.

I am not as interested in coming here as much because it’s tiring to see so many on the Right being ridiculously downbeat and unrealistic (for example: complaints about Fast and Furious, both to say that it’s ‘going nowhere’, which is extremely stupid when considering it’s in the court system right now, and also to be convinced that 0dumba will win the case, even though precedent on his executive privilege claim says that he’ll lose.) I expect that kind of melodramatic, pessimistic crap from lefties – when it comes from people on the Right, it is just pathetic and intolerable.

You and/or others may attack me for not being as unhappy, defeatist and negative as you about the election results, which may make you feel better but it neither addresses my point on an intelligent level nor does it make HA a more enjoyable place to be, does it?
