Silly stupid naked protesters aside, it’s the public health crisis that really prevents modern states from embracing a libertarian point of view. If a state system can’t compel the population to behave in a certain way in the face of a serious health crisis (say a smallpox bomb or similar virulent outbreak scenario), then that system is useless as a form of government.

See.. this is why it won’t make any difference what the GOP does. They will still be blamed for all the problems but they just don’t get it. They might as well just do what’s right.

We need new, fresh leadership.

I still say Republicans need to make an offer to exchange annual checks of 50,000-75,000. for the elimination of all government programs.

This offer is not even about whether it makes sense or not. Whether it will ever work or not. Just start to propose it because it will bring the argument to the public. We need this discussion. It exposes the welfare state for what it is and it will draw people away from the Democrats. So what if it never happens. Turn the argument against the Democrats. Let them be the ones to say we can’t afford to send that much money to the poor. Let them argue to keep their agencies and subsidies while the GOP argues to truly once and for all end poverty with direct checks. Money they can spend every year no strings attached. They can invest it. Buy a house. Start a business or just sit on their rears and take it all in but it ends in 10 years.

We don’t even need the proposal to actually happen for it to be effective. Welfare people will love it and begin voting Republican. Welfare folks will no longer need to cling each year to the Democrat party. They be free of worrying each year about their free phones, food stamps, heating subsidies, rent rebates and so forth. They won’t care if the Democrat wins or not. The Democrats were the ones standing in their way wanting to keep them chained to the government agency.
