Video: Naked protest in John Boehner’s office not as interesting as you’d think

posted at 6:01 pm on November 27, 2012 by Allahpundit

Via RCP, consensus opinion on Twitter seems to be that (a) this isn’t remotely as titillating as it sounded at first blush and (b) yes, Bill Clinton would have nonetheless loved it.

The way we’re going, if they had been protesting entitlement reform, Reid, Schumer, and Durbin might have been there bare-assed with them:

Social Security does not contribute to the federal deficit and should not be a part of ongoing negotiations to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff, Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said Tuesday, in a speech billed as a “major address making the progressive case for a bipartisan fiscal cliff deal.”

Durbin’s line in the sand on Social Security reflects an increasingly aggressive effort by Democrats to block changes to the program…

In Durbin’s remarks, which were prepared for delivery at the Center for American Progress, a progressive think tank and political operation, he said that Medicare and Medicaid should be off the table during fiscal cliff negotiations. “Progressives should be willing to talk about ways to ensure the long-term viability of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, but those conversations should not be part of a plan to avert the fiscal cliff,” Durbin said.

See Guy Benson for more on the deep seriousness of pretending to fiscal responsibility while leaving the biggest driver of federal debt long-term untouched. Like Mike Flynn, I can’t figure out what’s left of the “balanced approach” that GOP tax heretics like Saxby Chambliss and Lindsey Graham might (but probably won’t) embrace. Republicans agree to new revenue, probably involving closing tax loopholes and eliminating deductions and possibly even allowing the Bush tax cuts for the rich to lapse, and Democrats agree to … once again stay far, far away from touching Medicare and Social Security? Says Flynn, “Why is the media not seeking out some ‘adult’ Democrat who is willing to admit that we have a serious spending problem and need to reform entitlements?” Yeah, why? I’ll even settle for some naked protesters in Reid’s office with “SUSTAINABILITY” painted on their cheeks.

There’s nothing prurient here but since boobage is periodically displayed, here’s your official content warning. Exit question via ABC: Why were the topless women arrested but not the men? It’s legal in D.C., you know.

nice that the liberal protestors have switched from dressing as vaginas to showing their real life ones. Forward!

gsherin on November 27, 2012 at 6:11 PM

I have yet to understand how one liberal in a group can say, “Hey, let’s all go protest naked!” and the rest of the crew thinks that’s fine and dandy. Especially when most liberal protesters should NOT be seen naked by anyone without a strong stomach. Really–have any of us seen many liberals who are attractive even when they have their clothes on?

Liam on November 27, 2012 at 6:11 PM

These people on deserve scorn from both gays and straight people. But, then, they could have in a bit of a hurry to get through the security check points in Congress.

Silly stupid naked protesters aside, it’s the public health crisis that really prevents modern states from embracing a libertarian point of view. If a state system can’t compel the population to behave in a certain way in the face of a serious health crisis (say a smallpox bomb or similar virulent outbreak scenario), then that system is useless as a form of government.

No wonder there are no witnesses to Emmanuel Cleaver getting spit upon. The Capital Police can’t even see 12 naked & painted ladies traipsing through the Rayburn Office Bldg.

In regards to Illinois’ favorite BIG DICK Durbin, in reporting the story on his meeting with the Center for American Progress, the Chicago Tribune calls Durbin a fellow Progressive.

Speaking as a resident of Illinois, let me ask SINCE THE F**K WHEN HAS DICK DURBIN BEEN A PROGRESSIVE?!!!!!

The only “progress” Big Dick has made in Illinois is contributing to the downward spiral it has been in politically since he took office!

pilamaye on November 27, 2012 at 6:35 PM

Well that was a palate cleanser! It’s hard to take a bunch of naked protestors seriously, especially when you can’t even make out what they’re complaining about.

If they are not charged with lewd and lascivious behavior then something is wrong.
If I was there I would have maced them.

If somebody did that to Nancy Pelosi they would go to jail.
Count on it.
Oh…and of course the media just stand there like a-holes not a single question could they ask.
Also you’ll notice the two Capitol Police just milling around in the background with apparently nothing better to do.
They were obviously told to stand down until the protesters were done with their little tirade.

It took a lot of collusion and cooperation to make that happen and I would like to know who planned it all.

vcferlita on November 27, 2012 at 7:12 PM

Why are they protesting Boehner? He told the Republicans to bend over, I mean, fall in line. ObamaCare is the law of the land.

See.. this is why it won’t make any difference what the GOP does. They will still be blamed for all the problems but they just don’t get it. They might as well just do what’s right.

We need new, fresh leadership.

I still say Republicans need to make an offer to exchange annual checks of 50,000-75,000. for the elimination of all government programs.

This offer is not even about whether it makes sense or not. Whether it will ever work or not. Just start to propose it because it will bring the argument to the public. We need this discussion. It exposes the welfare state for what it is and it will draw people away from the Democrats. So what if it never happens. Turn the argument against the Democrats. Let them be the ones to say we can’t afford to send that much money to the poor. Let them argue to keep their agencies and subsidies while the GOP argues to truly once and for all end poverty with direct checks. Money they can spend every year no strings attached. They can invest it. Buy a house. Start a business or just sit on their rears and take it all in but it ends in 10 years.

10 years of annual checks in exchange for the elimination of all government subsidies, cash allowances to the poor and most of all.. government agencies.
We don’t even need the proposal to actually happen for it to be effective. Welfare people will love it and begin voting Republican. Welfare folks will no longer need to cling each year to the Democrat party. They be free of worrying each year about their free phones, food stamps, heating subsidies, rent rebates and so forth. They won’t care if the Democrat wins or not. The Democrats were the ones standing in their way wanting to keep them chained to the government agency.

Ms. Fund and Ms. Red Dot Down both have excellent points. And their enthusiasm for whatever causes they are promoting should be studied in more detail. They firmly and clearly understood each issue and bounced effortlessly between the two. But I have to say, Ms. Robin and Gary Busey make no sense at all, their points seemed blurred and dull, or at least that is the way I saw them.

Where are the congressional police when you need them?

This got air time on my local morning news today. Do you think if Republicans / Conservatives started doing silly publicity stunts voters would pay more attention to us? We mock liberals when they do crap like this but it obviously works.

RobertE on November 28, 2012 at 9:43 AM

probably involving closing tax loopholes

No such thing. Why must you use this word(loopholes) Allah? If one uses the tax law correctly/legally why should anyone call them “loopholes?”

Conservative4Ever on November 28, 2012 at 10:17 AM

If it’s this easy for Democrat operatives to sneak AIDS activists into the Speaker’s office for a publicity stunt, how hard would it be to sneak someone or something in to the Senate chamber for the next SOTU address? How about unfurling a banner depicting Christopher Steven’s corpse over the visitors railing and then screaming “MURDERER!!!” at the president? If leftist creeps like Code Pink did this to a Republican president they would be hailed as heroes speaking truth to power. I say we Breitbart the hell out of them.
