holy 6 degrees of kevin bacon batman! that last scene, two of the characters (the actors) are IN walking dead. andrea and (now dead) dale were in that car. gracious.

and i cant watch that scene anymore. thats the thing about king, he always was putting children at risk, or worse. i gave up reading him in the late 80s for that reason. tho the stand (long ver) is still a great book. i just dont have the time or pateince to read it again anymore.

Just another soap opera for ‘males’, like “Sons of Anarchy” or “Justified” that the clownboys are always yammering about.

Not true – I’m one of many women I know who love this show! I think the writers need to kill Herschel off next – he’s an easy choice because 1) he’s likable and that will give viewers the shock effect and 2) he’s too much of a liability!

Everyone’s high-fiving over the scenes of Glenn standing up to Merle and then kicking zombie @ss but to me that’s an example of the show losing its nerve

I thought the purpose of that was just to show what that group had been through while on the “outside” and how they weren’t as soft as Merle and his group there. I wasn’t that into the scene, but I thought it worked for that reason, especially using Glenn as the one to do the @ss kicking.

Completely agree on the rape scene and Michone though.

Mischone is not well developed on the TV show, was much better handled in the comics.

And remember, The Walking Dead refers to the living, not the walkers.

The most philosophical comment here… thank you! I honestly did not know that! (But then I haven’t read the comics.)

I really like Glenn and Maggie. I would say that their characters have developed the most recently. And I like that Glenn went from being the timid scavenger of the group to someone who can defend his lady!

Daryl… I’m liking more and more. I like that his character has changed and he seems to have adopted the group as his new family.

Agree with an earlier comment… for all her zombie killing skills, Andrea is an idiot! Definitely replaced Lori as most disliked.

On a very different note… I think this episode came close to crossing the line of what I can watch. I know that many will jump on this comment and say “what do you expect in a zombie apocalypse”… but then I’m reminded of what happened in the past election when I was wondering… how far has our country fallen from God’s example? And then I find myself watching a near rape on TV as entertainment and critiquing the fear factor. It’s not just the “libs” who have been wallowing in the downfall of our country… I think its all of us… just something to think on…

AP — just because we haven’t seen sexual assaults among these particular characters doesn’t mean the Walking Dead world is devoid of it. In fact, the latest webisodes on AMC make this unpleasantly clear.

As for the zombies being an after thought, after a year of apocalyptic life it should be. The living are more dangerous and are far more unpredictable.

Further, the handle of her sword is white lacing, very rare in a sword because white lacing shows handling and dirt so readily, but in this show where washing of the hands is well neigh impossible and gore and blood are flying about, the handle of her sword gleams episode after episode.

This bugs the crap out of me, too. Even if it had started out as white, the tsuka would be pretty close to black by now.

I don’t expect her to be depicted as knowing how to use a sword in a classical sense, and I don’t expect sword use in real combat to look much like kenjutsu katas. I do want some explanation as to how she managed to get that sword, though. It would be hard enough to get one’s hands on a functional katana (i.e., not a cheap decorative replica that would break immediately on use) in post-apocalyptic Georgia. But that isn’t even a katana. It’s either a full-length tachi (extremely rare, as most surviving tachi are cut down from their original forging lengths–and are worth tens of thousands of dollars) with a weirdly long tsuba, or a somewhat shortish nodachi (which, for all intents and purposes, is an item that simply doesn’t exist).

I think the only viable explanation would be that the thing was custom-forged or machined (out of exceptional steel) for her esoteric personal use. Somehow I don’t expect any satisfactory answers on this front…

Eh, at least there was some action in last nights episode. But yeah, totally agree, no one even worries about the zombies anymore and they’re kind of becoming just a boring side story.

Also, in season 1 Rick and someone else (too lazy to look it up) covered themselves in zombie inards and blood, and it started to lightly rain, and the zombies could smell them. Michonne has a little bit of zombie blood on her, yet is openly bleeding and the zombies basically totally ignore her?

Which brings me to something I’ve wondered all along. To be worried about being bitten and not care about open wounds being contaminated with Zombie juice make no sense whatsoever. Whatever, one more season and it’s “Dead”. Now bring on “Breaking Bad” already!

Why didn’t Michonne tell Rick and the group about Andrea? I found it strange that Rick would be so trusting of Michnonne so quickly.

I thought Glenn was going to get his hand chopped off and was relieved that Maggie didn’t get raped. Lori passed the baton to Andrea who is now the most annoying character on TWD.

I agree with all of this.

1. Michonne knew that Andrea was separated from a group and mentioned names like Rick and Carl, et. al. Here she shows up where their are few people alive anyway and the Leader of this new group is Rick and his son Carl. Come on! They spent the whole winter together we are not supposed to believe that Andrea NEVER spoke the names or talked about her group to Michonne!

2. Michonne handles her sword poorly and with little grace. If you want to see true Swordsmanship. Frankly it is so poor that it is annoying to watch. Even with special effects (her disarm of the Governor) she is awkward. Further, the handle of her sword is white lacing, very rare in a sword because white lacing shows handling and dirt so readily, but in this show where washing of the hands is well neigh impossible and gore and blood are flying about, the handle of her sword gleams episode after episode. If should be filthy by now, or we should see scenes of her redoing the wrapping every ten mins. She never even wipes the blade down!

3. I felt the Gov did exactly what he is always preaching, use the minimum force necessary to accomplish the objective (“don’t use a bullet if you can help it”). Glenn was beaten, Maggie merely needed terrorizing. He started slow, found she was strong, but proud, so he disrobed her to crush her pride and make her feel violated, then put a gun to the head of the only thing she cared about.

Just enough.

Kind of a boring premise though. There is, almost by definition, nothing in the least bit interesting about the zombie apocalypse going on these days. And this show just confirms the obvious. The whole thing’s too darned meta.

Another example of how Dale’s death by the zombie who lay in wait for him instead of feasting on the freshly slaughtered cow was extremely lazy writing. It still bugs me.

Please, AMC, get Breaking Bad, Mad Men, or Hell on Wheels back on.

And stop with the reality shows.
