Poll: OOTY prelims, Flight 3

posted at 9:31 am on November 25, 2012 by Ed Morrissey

Time for another round of preliminary polls to choose the Obamateurism of the Year! Last week, you chose as a semifinalist the shock, shock the President displayed to find out belatedly that the American system provided by the Founders prevent massive “change” from taking place.  Which one of today’s five moves onto the next round?

  • Gets annoyed when asked about number of vacations, doesn’t answer question
  • “I’m confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.”
  • “This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.”
  • Blames Fox News for his unpopularity because “they hear Obama is a Muslim 24/7, and it begins to seep in”
  • Attacks Limbaugh while remaining silent on Maher contribution to his super-PAC

Previous Obamateurisms of the Year:

  • Giving 2 minutes of “shout-outs” before getting to the Fort Hood shooting (2009)
  • Obama leaves Clinton at press conference podium on tax deal to attend Christmas party (2010)
  • “I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president— with the possible exceptions of Johnson, F.D.R., and Lincoln.” (2011)

Flexibility!

22044 on November 25, 2012 at 9:35 AM

Yep.

could be the overall winner.

BallisticBob on November 25, 2012 at 9:36 AM

This is all for runner-up status.

Everyone knows that “You didn’t build that” will be the overall winner.

The Last Emperor, it’s flextime!

The array of Awful from Obama is horrifying.

“I’m confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.”

I didn’t pick this one, but… my, oh my, what a brilliant constitutional scholar we have in Preezy Bronco Bama. Grrr… And, John Roberts, you still suck, BIG TIME.

Maybe, I should cut back on the caffeine this morning…?

Fallon on November 25, 2012 at 9:43 AM

You’ve got to be really flexible to go through life with your head up your azz.

O is a Cult of Flexibility

Steve Eggleston on November 25, 2012 at 9:47 AM

For an amateur, Obama put together a campaign that won despite incredible odds. You know who the real amateur is ? Mitt Romney… for some one who was touted as a great businessman/manager he could not get the GOTV act together and has now barely surpassed McCain’s total from 2008 even though McCain ran against such overwhelming odds.

We are better than this – the so called amateur has been re-elected and this is easily the most catastrophic thing to have happened to America since …i don’t even know when.

The American electorate has shown how incredibly dumb it is – and we are making fun of Obama’s amateur behavior ? The Joke is on the American people who allowed this to happen.

This was a no brainer. Hopefully the next one will be more competitive.

By the way, why are these called “Flights”?

SoulGlo on November 25, 2012 at 10:00 AM

I voted for flexibility, but it’s probably the least amateurish one there. More likely it’s our coming reality.

flexibility.

ted c on November 25, 2012 at 10:13 AM

These are all good candidates. I chose the Supreme Court one as it demonstrated such a wilful blindness–or worse, malicious influencing of the Court–to the Constitution. And since he taught an apparently forgettable course on the Constitution (do we hear praises for his methods and/or insights?) he really should know better.

Flexibility was a close contender in my eyes. In the hands on someone who was a good negotiator and who cared about doing the right thing for the United States, it could have been a good thing to say.

The only comfort I take out of all this is that you idiots who elected him will also suffer in the collapse he is bringing about. Just remember that you own it; this will not be the fault of Bush, this will not be the fault of the Republican led House who right now stands as our last defense at the ramparts of freedom (oh, joy) — This is all the destruction being brought about by your President Barack Hussein Obama. You had all the evidence before you — the failed bailout, the cronyism and failed green energy loans, the “more flexibility” promise of surrender to the Russians, the “Smart Power” that has brought radical islamists to power in the Middle East, record unemployment yet you still chose to support this person for another four years.

All that you say is true..and STILL Obama won… thanks to Romney’s incredibly powerful OCRA !!! The biggest amateur of them all is Mitt Romney. He allowed Obama to define him as a vulture capitalist who kills people by robbing them of their health insurance and drinks puppy blood for breakfast.

If we are truly serious, we need to figure out the reasons behind the rank Amateurism in display on the GOP side that led to a catastrophic loss in 2012. I do not mean this from just the political consultants alone – every one from Michael Barone to George Will were so deeply wrong that we looked like absolute jokers.

Not one republican. Perhaps Owe made the same mistake all news media makes when they talk about “democrats” and use the term “democratic” which is incorrect.

Anyway it goes, it was NOT a strong majority.

Flexibility… A huge underplayed card by team Romney.

Remember when team Axelfraud and the democommies had the gall to go with the “who do you trust more” campaign meme.

That was a missed jugular moment, Latinos aside.

No honey, the MEDIA allowed Owe to define Romney. Nothing that Romney did allowed this or even gave hints that Romney might be anything but a good businessman who loved his country. Mitt fought with all his might. I was not a Mitt person, but I ended up very proud of him and the way he conducted his campaign.

Politicians can’t spend all their time and money defending themselves. It prevents them from getting out THEIR message. Yet the only thing the Owe campaign did was attack Mitt over and over with distortions and lies and the US liberal media carried the water for Owe. The blame goes to 1. the liberal media 2. stupid voters who won’t bother to inform themselves 3. those wanting to get other people’s money for themselves.

I don’t recall that ever being said on Fox, but if I had to guess it sounds like something Juan Williams would complain about, since he’s always saying how poorly and unfairly the big Oaf has been treated.

scalleywag on November 25, 2012 at 11:54 AM

Started to vote for “Last election” then I realized that’s not amateurish – it signals his real intent. Why Romney never asked him about this in a debate or mentioned it on the campaign trail is a mystery to me.

katablog.com on November 25, 2012 at 11:30 AM

As if Romney couldn’t see that one coming!

No, Romney put forth some good effort here and there. He did a good takedown of the bad economy under Obama. But that was it. And even then, all he ever talked about was the results of the economy under Obama, never WHY Obama was failing.

Again, instead of saying why he could fix the economy, he said, “Trust me. I know what to do.”

There were moments when Romney showed great promise, but it always came down to a promise that, “I will be more competent.” Well, guess what: competence doesn’t win elections.

On foreign policy, Romney’s game was to clinch with Obama. The most often heard phrase from his mouth in the foreign policy debate was, “I agree with the president.” Great, now national security conservatives had no reason to vote for him. And his fear of being tagged as a social conservative was pathological.

Romney ran as a fiscal conservative, conceding the other two legs of the conservative stool. He richly deserved to lose, no matter how many people make excuses for him. Unfortunately, his losing sticks us with Captain Kick-ass for another four years.

Will the GOP learn their lesson in 2016? I’m not exactly hopeful.

This was a 1980-style election. We needed a Reagan. Instead, we got a Bush.

There Goes The Neighborhood on November 25, 2012 at 2:33 PM

Flexibility, because it reflects his real mindset. We are about to see that he meant that about more than just the specific issue Putin cared about at the moment. He thinks he owns this country now.

Who cares? Romney can’t win an election on points. He has to campaign by saying what’s wrong with the other guy and what he can do better. He didn’t.

Saying, “Well, Obama was no better” accomplishes exactly nothing.
