Good for the Republicans. The point of allowing immigration should be to help the US. As usual, the Democrats only favor things when they hurt the US.

After we get our economic house in order, we survey the immigration policies of other countries and require immigrants to have a decent bank balance and skills we really (like actually ) need.

Not like the current H1-B farce that no one in media will talk about.

Otherwise, no, I don’t want them here and I want the “visitors” who are here already occupying a job that rightfully belongs to a US citizen TO GO BACK WHERE THEY CAME FROM.

Do you have any idea what it feels like to get invited to interview at a place only to discover that everyone interviewing you is not a citizen AND that you’re only there so they can claim they interviewed some citizens “but couldn’t find the skills they need” and that you’re giving them cover to hire another H1-B?

How would you like that to happen three or four times in the span of two weeks?

It’s infuriating.

Oh…and I forgot to mention there is also alot of skepticism regarding the safety of the program because of the lax vetting of Diversity Visa lottery winners, including those from terror-sponsoring countries. This reason alone should have been enough to stop the program a long, long time ago.

Because the Diversity Visa Lottery should never have been implemented in the first place. It’s a line-jumping program.
There are temporary legal residents in the United States who are high skilled workers(with H-1B and L-1 visas) who remain on temporary visas for years (in some cases, more than a decade) with no clear path to becoming permanent residents. Now along comes the visa lottery and 50,000 random people are picked from around the world and handed permanent resident status. And by the way, in the Visa Lottery program the threshhold to qualify is only a high school diploma or equivalent. Do we really need to allow entrance to more no to low skilled workers for the sake of diversity. Don’t think so.

Yea, I saw that. I hope Jindal doesn’t make a run in 2016, I don’t think he’s all that qualified. Newt is toast so I can see why he wanted a cabinet post so badly. I hope NONE of the last crop of candidates run again, not a single one of them. We need some new players.

Because it’s the right thing to do? I know, radical concept, right?

I understand why we want bills spending X amount of money to be offset by X amount of savings. But this deals with the number of immigrants entering the country. I don’t think the formula holds here.

And that’s part of the problem. Too many people think like you do, and we’re losing the country because of it.
